~Synopsis~

I’ve spent years hoping someone would finally hear me. It’s easier not to try anymore…
Ten years after leaving his small Minnesota hometown in his rearview mirror for what Nolan Grainger was sure would be the last time, life has decided to throw the talented musician a curveball and send him back to the town he lived in but was never really home.
At twenty-eight, Nolan has traveled the world as a successful concert violinist with some of the best symphonies in the country. But success breeds envy, and when Nolan’s benefactor and lover decides Nolan has flown high enough, he cruelly clips Nolan’s wings. The betrayal and ensuing scandal leaves the violinist’s career in shambles and with barely enough money to start fresh somewhere beyond his vindictive ex’s powerful reach. But just as he’s ready to get his life back on track, Nolan gets the call he’s been dreading.
After a stroke leaves his father a partial invalid, duty-bound Nolan returns to Pelican Bay and a life he’s spent years trying to forget. When he’s forced to use the last of his own money to keep from losing the family home, desperation has him turning to the one man he’d hoped never to see again…
Even if I could speak, there wouldn’t be anyone there to listen…
Pelican Bay’s golden boy, Dallas Kent, had the quintessential perfect life. Smart, gorgeous, and popular, the baseball phenom was well on his way to a life filled with fame and fortune. But more importantly, he had a one-way ticket out of Pelican Bay and far away from the family who used love as currency and whose high expectations were the law of the land. But a stormy night, sharp highway curve and one bad decision changed everything, leaving Dallas with nothing.
Because the accident that took his parents, his future and his crown as the boy who could do no wrong, also stole his voice.
Despised for the horrific wreck that ended the lives of two of Pelican Bay’s most respected residents, Dallas has retreated to a secluded stretch of land where he’s found refuge in a menagerie of unwanted animals that don’t care that he once had the world at his feet or that he’ll never speak again.
But when the quiet, bookish boy he wasn’t allowed to notice in school suddenly reappears ten years later at Dallas’s wildlife rehab center in desperate need of a job, Dallas is thrust back into a world he’s worked hard to escape.
Dallas’s silence was supposed to send Nolan scurrying, but what if Nolan ends up being the one person who finally hears him?
Will two men who’ve been fleeing from the past finally come home to Pelican Bay for good or will the silence drive them apart forever?

I have a great love for all things written by Sloane Kennedy.

So when I found out that she was working on a new series, I was very curious about which direction this would go.

tenor.gif (220×164)

This book is much different than any of the others in the “Protection” and the “Finding”series. It was emotional…though not too angsty. It made me angry, but not with the MC’s. I would really qualify this one, as a “hurt/comfort” book, but also as a “second chance” one.

Nolan and Dallas both grew up in the small town Pelican Bay.

Nolan was the nerdy, scrawny kid, who didn’t have a lot of friends. Many times he was the target of practical jokes and bullying. He spends most of his time playing his violin and making sure he got accepted to Juilliard.

Dallas was the school’s “golden boy”. He excelled in everything and he was loved by everyone. No one ever knew the “real” Dallas though. He himself never did anything to hurt Nolan, when they were young… but he didn’t stop the others either.

Whoever said blood was thicker than water never stood in a pool of it.
Retiring from stealing priceless treasures seemed like a surefire way for Rook Stevens to stay on the right side of the law. The only cop in his life should have been his probably-boyfriend, Los Angeles Detective Dante Montoya, but that’s not how life—his life—is turning out. Instead, Rook ends up not only standing in a puddle of his cousin Harold’s blood but also being accused of Harold’s murder…and sleeping with Harold’s wife.
For Dante, loving the former thief means his once-normal life is now a sea of chaos, especially since Rook seems incapable of staying out of trouble—or keeping trouble from following him home. When Rook is tagged as a murder suspect by a narrow-focused West L.A. detective, Dante steps in to pull his lover out of the quagmire Rook’s landed in.
When the complicated investigation twists around on them, the dead begin to stack up, forcing the lovers to work together. Time isn’t on their side, and if they don’t find the killer before another murder, Dante will be visiting Rook in his prison cell—or at his grave.

“Fuck, I missed this,” Rook whispered, stroking the edge of the lock. “Why the hell did I give this up?”

Former cat burglar Rook Stevens gives into the thrill of one last caper. Okay, maybe he was a bit driven by a teeny-weeny desire for revenge. Maybe he felt the need to prove himself that he is still one of the best. And yeah, maybe he should have known better…

~Synopsis~

When Ward Johannsen’s little girl Ava shifted into a werewolf, she was taken into custody by the feds and shipped off to the nearest pack, all ties between father and daughter severed. Ward burned every bridge he had discovering her location, and then almost froze to death in the Colorado mountains tracking her new pack down. And that’s just the beginning of his struggle.
Henry Dormer is an alpha werewolf and an elite black ops soldier who failed his last mission. He returns home, hoping for some time to recuperate and help settle the pack’s newest member, a little pup named Ava who can’t shift back to her human form. Instead he meets Ward, who refuses to leave his daughter without a fight. The two men are as different as night and day, but their respect for each other strikes a spark of mutual interest that quickly grows into a flame. They might find something special together—love, passion, and even a family—if they can survive trigger-happy pack guardians, violent werewolf politics, and meddling government agencies that are just as likely to get their alpha soldiers killed as bring them home safely.

“It’s not your place to take care of me.”
“It is now, though,” I said earnestly. “You’re my pack.”
“You feel like pack. You might feel like more.”

The Eye of the Werewolf

Granted, the circumstances under which Ward Johannsen and Henry Dormer met are not the best, to put it mildly.

Ward lands on Henry’s doorstep -literally-, on the brink of drawing his last breath -also quite literally- in search of his little daughter, Ava, who got snatched from under his nose by the government and sent to Henry’s pack after turning into a werewolf. Ava is all the world to Henry and with nothing else to lose, he moves heaven and hell to find her, his own delicate state of health notwithstanding and fully intent on not letting himself be put off by an intimidating alpha werewolf.

I have been excited about this book ever since I found out that there was gonna be a sequel to “Murder and Mayhem”. I absolutely loved that book and I had very high expectations for this second one.

Thankfully my expectations were met. 😉

Now let me start off by saying, that this book can not be read as a stand alone. It’s a continuing storyline about the couple from book 1.

Rook and Dante. I still love their names…so freaking cool!

-You can’t hide the cracks under the spotlight-

Dusk. Leader of The Underdogs. Destined for greatness. Lives in the now.
Abe. AKA Lolly. Iridescent. Unicorn.
All Dusk wants out of life is for his band to become world famous. He also wants to have a lot of fun along the way. And to get his rocks off. When he wants something, he goes for it, consequences be damned.
So when he sees a gorgeous pink-haired guy who is the human equivalent of tattooed cotton candy, he can’t help but have a taste. But it’s when Lolly ends up on their tour bus that Dusk knows their meeting was destiny.
Abe is the kind of guy who goes with the flow. He was hitchhiking anyway, so why not spend the week with a hot piece of rocker beefcake, getting smothered by his sexy long hair? And why not play the part of the supportive cutie while he’s at it? It’s not like he’d be sticking around for long anyway.
All plans hit a wall when photos of Abe and Dusk emerge online, suddenly pushing the band into the spotlight. To take advantage of the sudden popularity, the band offers Abe money for staying.
Which means money for being in a fake relationship with Dusk.
Which isn’t even fake.
Or is it?

Every time I read the blurb of a KA Merikan’s book it talks to me.

I feel attracted to their synopsis like a moth to the light, so I keep adding them to my shelves. But until now, until Manic Pixie Dream Boy I’d never tried this duo before. This time I’ve gone beyond the interesting blurb and to the whole experience and, let me tell you, what an incredible experience this one has been!
My first book by this authors and, for sure, not my last. I’m kinda obsessed now and I guess this is the beginning of a huge fangirling thing so, Helloo Merikans! You have a new fan in me.

Not a creepy one, promise, just a fan with a healthy obsession…or not…

So now, about the book:

This is the story of Dusk and Abe. Two guys who met in a stop on their way to LA.

They crossed paths (swords too, figuratively speaking) and start a new journey together. This is the story of The Underdogs, a rock band that makes my heart sing, and my panties melt. This is the story of their guitar and lead singer-Dusk- who wants to shine in a competitive and difficult world and a shiny man-Abe aka Lolly- who doesn’t belong anywhere and who is always waiting for an upcoming storm.

Manic Pixie Dream Boy starts directly into the action and with the action I mean taking care of the business, doing the dirty, a filthy encounter in a gas station restroom…That action.

I absolutely loved book 1, The Alpha King in this series. I am normally not a big fan of mpreg, but I made an exception for that one since it was so nicely done. 😉

Of course, when I found out that there was gonna be the second book in this series, I jumped on it.

Even though this book is about a different couple than book 1, I would still advise reading the first book before starting this one. This mostly because of the world building that takes place in that one, but also because it’s an awesome book!!

~Synopsis~

This year is all about healing the heart, Scorpio. It’s time to leave negative attitudes and stoic facades at the door and let others see the real, more vulnerable you.
Percy Freedman is not grieving. Absolutely not, take that back at once. No, he’s entirely sure that selling his dead aunt’s home and leaving the neighbors he’s known for years is the sane thing to do. Who in their right mind would keep the house that smells like all the hugs he’ll never have again?
Nobody, that’s who.
Well, except his cul-de-sac neighbors. They all seem to think some paint and new furniture will clean the emotional slate. They all want him to stay.
Even his nemesis, Callaghan Glover.
Especially his nemesis, Callaghan Glover.

Lured into a game of Sherlock Gnomes, Percy finds himself hanging out with his neighbors more than might be considered healthy. Along with juggling new and surprising verbal grenades from Cal, and his burgeoning friendship with Gnomber9, Percy is starting to wonder if selling might have been the grief talking after all . . .
That’s right, Scorpio. With a little patience, heartbreak might be a thing of the past.

“Scorpio Hates Virgo” contains sarcasm, sexual content, a slightly sappy HEA, and an unhealthy obsession with dinosaurs…It can be read as a standalone.

First, let me start by saying that this book can be read as a stand alone. You don’t need to read book 1 to understand the storyline… But take my advice and read book 1 anyway though, because it’s a great book that you don’t want to miss out on!!

This book is about Percy and Callaghan.

Now, for those of you wondering if they are connected in any way to the characters of book 1…yes they are. But it’s a very small connection. Percy neighbors are Theo and Leone’s parents.

It’s not a secret that I love Anyta Sunday. I am a huge fan.

She gives me that mood and makes me forget the world around.
Her stories make me smile and gives me a silly face all the way while reading them. With Scorpio hates Virgo the experience has been a little bit different though (at least during the first half of the book) so my “Anyta-I-love-you” face, this time has been more subtle more “I-love-you-but-something-is-a-bit-off-here” face. A “yes but no” face. Something like this:

But leave it to Anyta to overtake that little pothole on my way and finally give me what I wanted. Leave it to her to deliver the sexy and cute I craved. Because, after a first half not feeling it, she finally did it and even if not my favorite and, even if I was expecting more (my fault and just myself to blame), this book gave me something, and I finished it loving Percy and Cal and with the peaceful and beautiful feeling Anyta always gives me.

She makes me see the world full of rainbows and unicorns

“It was going to be him and Luke against the world forever “

Guess what? It wasn’t like that.

This story starts with a prologue that takes place in 1988, where our MCs,  Nelson Maitland, and Lucas Rollins…Friends and neighbors since they were five years old… witness their plans and dreams shattered when Luke has to move with his parents to another state. Because we all know that for a 13 years old kid, that is a galaxy far far away, and kinda the end of the world.

“At thirteen he thought his life was over, couldn´t understand why the world was still spinning when his had stopped”

After that “break up” (and the quotation marks are necessary since they were not a couple, just best Friends “experimenting”) our heroes are going to cross paths in life again but let me tell you, it’s not gonna be an easy journey.
