Genre(s): M/M, Romance, Science Fiction
Release Date: April 21, 2017

 ~Synopsis~

How far would you go for the one you love? How much of yourself would you sacrifice?

Trapped on a decaying Earth and cut off from the rest of the Universe, humans are no longer allowed to leave their planet. Break this one law and you die: a penalty enforced by flyers, aliens who look like angels of long-lost religions. Michael, the flyers’ leader, is the Punisher who carries out every public execution.

Adam, a young human with near-perfect memory, is committed to rebuilding Earth and a true believer in the flyers’ dominion. While Adam’s support for flyers isn’t a secret, his deep love for Michael is. Not even Michael knows, for his kind never take human lovers, and to Adam, they are too far above him to reach.

In his broken and unwelcoming world, Adam’s love can only lead to pain, loss, and disaster. Yet there is no force in the huge expanse of stars and galaxies that can stop Adam from following Michael to the end of existence. Not even Adam’s own beliefs.

~Excerpt~

My enthusiasm at seeing Michael again quickly faded when he arrived. He seemed cold, uncaring. There was no trace of feeling in his eyes, no expression on his beautiful face. He wore his usual leather trousers that I was sure he had to cut off his body to undress. The new addition was a metallic looking… something. It looked like a sleeveless shirt or some sort of body armor, but it kept me from seeing his strong upper body and watch the stray rays of sunshine reflected by his glorious skin.

All in all, he looked like a true warrior, a right enforcer. And did he ever act like one! Michael had never been a man of many words, but he was eerily silent this time. He did not offer a glance or a word to anyone. Even when it came to the other flyers, he only communicated through mysterious nods and gestures. To make it worse, two of the other flyers that had come with him, the ones who had taken over his patrolling duties, were stabbing me with their glares. He’d told them? Or maybe they’d figured out his mood had soured after coming to see me…

Either way, not seeing Michael was a lot easier than having him ignore me like this. With a deep sigh, I turned around and made to leave, but one of the other flyers stopped me.

“Where do you think you’re going? Everyone healthy and able is required to attend the executions.”

I slapped his hand away and then pressed my palm to his naked chest, pushing him back. The crowd around me gasped in unison, then went deadly silent.

“What is the point, angel? I’ll just watch your broadcast later. They never learn, nothing changes. There will be another execution soon enough.”

I left the village square without ever looking back. I heard the flyer calling my name once, but for some reason, he did not try to stop me again, nor did he say anything else. I went straight back home, trying to keep myself together until I was safely hidden away in my room. I could not afford to fall apart out in the open, I couldn’t have any of the other villagers see me like that, see how weak I truly was.

Mob enforcer Ceaton Mercer has killed a lot of people in a lot of different ways – he stashed the last two bodies in a toolshed belonging to a sweetheart marine researcher in an idyllic island community – but he’s really not such a bad guy. Over time he’s found a home of sorts, and he even learns he’s found a place in the hearts of the people he works with…at least enough so that they won’t put a bullet in his head because he’s outlived his usefulness to the boss.

But he never thought he’d find one day could change his life, and he’s about to discover how wrong he is.
Because in a single day, he meets the man who looks to be the one, the love of his life. It’s an improbable idea – a man who deals in death finding love – but it’s like it’s meant to be. That single day gets weirder and troubles pile up, forcing Ceaton to take a hard look at his dreary life and accept that one day can change everything, especially himself. His future might be brighter than he expects – if he can stay alive long enough to find out.

Mary, Mary Mary, how I love thee, let me count the ways…

how-do-i-love-thee-o.gif (320×192)

So we have another winner !!! I loved this book…it’s just as awesome as I expected it to be.

It had all the required ingredients…

  • Did it have a hot guy everyone wanted to be friends with   Teek, Mark, Corrigeren, Keuze, Registreer, Ja, Icon:
  • Did it have some ridiculous over the top scenes Teek, Mark, Corrigeren, Keuze, Registreer, Ja, Icon:
  • Did it have insta-love/lust Teek, Mark, Corrigeren, Keuze, Registreer, Ja, Icon:

…all that and so much more….

This book starts off with the story of Ceaton Mercer, ex-marine, and how he became a mob enforcer. I loved Ceaton from the very start.

What I loved most about this book, was the comradery. Pravi, Marko, and Luka…these boys were all great in their own way…

…but together, they were just awesome!!

e9bd9c3b07878ccc11d059c1cd6020c5.jpg (736×707):

Then the day comes that changes everything…when Ceaton sets his sight on Brin…or maybe it was more the other way around. 😀

19230214.gif (500×281)

“There was a pushpin in my mind map of where I thought I was, but you moved it, you changed it, and now my orbit is different because of you.”

This book is a slow burn…though the insta-love/lust is still there.

It is not heavy on the steam, but since, the second half of this book takes place in one day…that makes sense.

I was also extremely happy with the little surprise we got near the ending ! I love it when authors do that and I have high hopes that this book will turn into a series.

Cinderella reading book with mice and birds.gif (500×375)

The only thing that upsets me a little, was that it was so short.

I need more…I always need more Mary, so of course, I am off to re-read some old favorites (all of them). 😀 😛

Holly ….HOTNESS!

Wow… This book was H O T!

...:

Wow this book…was just amazing.

The first thing that drawn me to read this book was the cover, and I didn’t even read the blurb. The whole ride was just what I needed. Once in a while, I have a state of mind a little difficult. I want to read all the books in the world, or at least the ones that I’m interested in, that drawn me, but I don’t feel like reading at all. But with THE BANDIT I had a deadline. And I’m so happy it was an amazing rollercoaster of feelings because thanks to books like this one, my appetite for reading books is back.

The story starts with Mains father, who goes to prison because he murdered his best friend, Angel’s father. Did he really kill his best friend? And if he did it, what was his reason? From the moment her father went to jail, Mains life changes from bad to worse. So after months of struggling to survive, she is desperate. And desperate situations lead to desperate measures. She decides to steal from her worse enemy, but she is caught.

And now she has to pay.

Angel…Angel is the opposite of his name.

What a beautiful name for the devil himself. He is dangerous, jerk, possessive, dominant, vengeful, gorgeous, sexy, rough, persistent, calculated, kinky, ruthless, stubborn. What he wants it’s what he gets. And he seeks revenge. But he seeks it in the wrong place.

can we just take a moment to let how attractive this man is sink in?:

Main and Angel are our heroes. They were destined to be together.

Destined by faith but also by their fathers. Their fathers were best friends, partners in business and the most feared of all the people. They ruled the city, the world. They killed, they stole, they ruled the dirty businesses. From the first time they laid eyes on each other, they knew that they were destined to be together. But Angel wanted to be in his father businesses, so he had to prove to his father that he was capable of that, and his test was to babysit Main.

The attraction and the desire were the most feared enemies of Angel, so he keeps pushing Main away and makes her hate him. She’s only a kid. Most of the time, it worked, but as years pass by and Main grows into a beautiful teenager thru a woman…

…things get complicated.

dk:

This book story had me glued to her from the first page thru the last one. I couldn’t put it down, couldn’t get enough of her.It was written from dual POV. The story was alternating from the past thru the present. The story was interesting and can’t wait to discover the continuing. I didn’t expect that ending but…DAMN.

Z and Lucas were some crazy and  HOT bonus.  Can’t wait to read the next book, and I really hope to see one day the story of Z and Lucas.

What I loved about the book?…Everything!

The story was amazing, captivating, hot, suspenseful….just PURE PLEASURE.

~Blurb~

Miles Sorenson prides himself on his brutal honesty. Facts and logic are a hell of a lot easier to deal with than emotions. He’s got his career and a small, close-knit group of friends, and he doesn’t need nor want anything else. The total opposite of Quinn Barker, who doesn’t take life too seriously and thinks a good laugh can cure anything.

When Quinn takes Miles home, it’s supposed to be a one-time deal. Except they really click in the sack and end up spending the weekend together, enjoying each other’s bodies as much as their company…to Miles’s dismay. Matters get even more muddled when, months later, they run into each other at the popular West Hollywood bar, Wild Side, and pick up right where they left off.

On the surface, Quinn and Miles are like oil and water, but the draw between them is undeniable. As their lives further entwine, they realize there’s more to their connection than the way they singe the sheets together.

But demons from the past have a way of catching up, and no matter how strong the link is tying Miles and Quinn together, the pressure may be enough to make it snap.

~Excerpt~

Miles still held him by the back of the head. Their lips were inches apart now, breaths heavy, Miles panting as he looked at Quinn.

He breathed in, Miles out, Miles in, Quinn out.

“You gonna fuck me or what, Counselor?” he finally asked, and then they were stumbling out of the shower—teeth clanking, tongues slashing, lips searching.

He felt like Miles was going to devour him, take him whole, and in this moment, he would welcome it.

Miles kissed him until they got to the sink. “Bend over it,” he said, and goose bumps shot across Quinn’s skin at the command.

He did as Miles said. Miles’s hand brushed down his back, his finger tracing each rise and fall of Quinn’s spine. “Perfect arch.”

Quinn looked up, met Miles’s eyes in the mirror and replied, “I know.” Because he did. He was fucking good at this.

“Mouthy little bottom, aren’t you?” Miles teased.

“Realistically confident.”

“You’re killing me.” Miles looked away, and Quinn knew it was because this was a lot. Because just fucking before he’d admitted that Quinn intrigued him was one thing, but now they both knew this was about more than just a piece of ass. What? They hadn’t gotten that far yet and didn’t know each other well enough to figure it out either, but it was a truth between them that hadn’t been there the first weekend they’d shared.

Or maybe they had known it but hadn’t been able to admit it.

“Get in me,” Quinn told him.

“Mouthy,” Miles said again. “Going to have to do something about that.”

Some heroes wear capes. Some prefer sensory sacks.

Emmet Washington has never let the world define him, even though he, his boyfriend, Jeremey, and his friends aren’t considered “real” adults because of their disabilities. When the State of Iowa restructures its mental health system and puts the independent living facility where they live in jeopardy, Emmet refuses to be forced into substandard, privatized corporate care. With the help of Jeremey and their friends, he starts a local grassroots organization and fights every step of the way.

In addition to navigating his boyfriend’s increased depression and anxiety, Emmet has to make his autistic tics acceptable to politicians and donors, and he wonders if they’re raising awareness or putting their disabilities on display. When their campaign attracts the attention of the opposition’s powerful corporate lobbyist, Emmet relies on his skill with calculations and predictions and trusts he can save the day—for himself, his friends, and everyone with disabilities.

He only hopes there isn’t a variable in his formula he’s failed to foresee.

~Excerpt~

As New Year’s Eve approached, I got the feeling Emmet was up to something, but I couldn’t be sure.

My depression was intense, and as we’ve already established, it lies like crazy. It had plenty to say about my suspicion Emmet had something up his sleeve too, and all its whispers were terrifying, so I worked constantly to shut it down. There was also so much going on with the party preparations and getting ready for our houseguest. Icarus had approved Darren’s overnight with us, and Emmet helped me make my room Darren friendly. Mostly this meant picking things up. Emmet is the reason my room doesn’t dive into becoming a total trash heap, but my idea of tidy is still his idea of pretty screwed up, which is part of the reason I have my own room. Darren said he didn’t mind the mess, but I’d roomed with Darren briefly and knew he appreciated neatness as much as Emmet, so I wanted to take the time to make the space he would borrow appealing to him.

Emmet helped, which I appreciated, as cleaning overwhelmed me, but he could only do so much because he worked. New Year’s Eve was on Saturday night, but I had to do the cleaning during the week, and that’s when Emmet had to be at work. So David helped me as well, as best as David could.

David is both my boss and my best friend. He’s the first person I think to go to when I have a problem, outside of Emmet. Emmet and David are good friends too, though when they first met they didn’t get along at all. We’re the best of friends now. David used to tease me that he wished I could drive and then we could take on the world, but he knows it makes me feel bad, so he’s stopped.

Technically I can drive, as in I have my license, but I get nervous when I do, and I’ve gotten more nervous as I’ve gotten older. I could maybe drive on a quiet street in a small town, but I don’t think I could do Duff Avenue or Lincoln Way in Ames, the main in-town streets that most people from big cities would laugh at me for avoiding. Don’t get me started on store parking lots.

To be honest, managing my own bedroom was struggle enough, but with David’s help, I got it done. He could only do a little here and there with his grabber, but he redirected me and kept me on task, because as he put it, he was good at bossing people around. “Begin with the pile of clothes over there,” he’d tell me, reminding me to sort them into piles of dirty and clean, and when it got to be too much, he suggested I call the whole lot dirty so we could keep moving. This was something Emmet would never have done. We’d have stood there for fifteen minutes having a discussion about each item. This was where David came in handy.

“You’re making some good headway,” he remarked after we’d worked for a half hour. “Why don’t we stop and have a break?”

It seemed early to be taking a break, but I was exhausted. I wondered if it showed, then figured it probably did. Feeling glum, I nodded and followed David as he maneuvered his chair into the kitchen. I sank into a chair at the table before I realized as host and as his staff I should be the one getting our snack, but as I rose, he waved me into my seat.

“Sit. I got this.” He snorted and gave me a wry smile. “Well, maybe I got this. Depends on how high up you put stuff and if I can reach it with my grabber.” When I tried to stand up, he waved at me harder, his arm flapping awkwardly. “Sit down, Jer. It’s a joke.”

I didn’t laugh. “Sorry. I’ve been…” I didn’t know how to finish that sentence. Not without getting in trouble. I’ve been a mess. I’ve been awful.

“You’re having a rough time. Which is why I’m helping you out.” He snagged a box of crackers with his grabber and a stack of plastic glasses. “How’s Emmet doing since you confessed about the depression, by the way?”

“Intense. He wants to fix it.”

“He wants to help you. Not the same thing.”

“He can’t see the difference.” I watched David tuck the stack of glasses under his chin, pull on the stack with his more functional hand, managing to leave two under his chin. It was a neat trick. “Maybe he doesn’t want to fix it exactly. He’s up to something, though. It makes me nervous.”

“No offense, but everything makes you nervous.” He slid the extra cups onto the counter, caught them with his grabber, then aimed the stick at the cupboard. “Okay, I can get them put away, but they’re not going in under Emmet’s standards of neatness. I’ll try to remember to explain to him, but if he gets bothered by this, blame me, you got it? It’s the best I can do with my motor control.”

“I’ll tell him. It’ll still bother him, but he’ll understand.”

“Cool. So what are we having? Water? Soda? Juice? Tea? Whiskey sours?”

The last comment was added to make me smile, and it worked. “There’s green tea in the fridge. I’ll have that please.”

“Dude. If that’s all there is, I’m having water.” He opened the door, then exclaimed in excitement. “Orange soda. Are you for real?”

I’d forgotten about the soda. “It’s for you. Emmet got it the other day.”

“Train Man. You come through for me.”

David wrestled the containers out of the fridge with his better hand and the elbow of his not-so-good hand. This was a trick we’d learned together through trial and error. Apparently a physical therapist or two had also suggested something similar, he admitted later, but David and therapists had rocky relationships on the best of days. He and I, however, got along fine.

It took him about fifteen minutes longer to get us drinks and crackers and cheese than it would have me, but I didn’t mind the time to sit quietly, and David, I knew, appreciated someone letting him do something for himself without trying to help or praising him afterward like he was a toddler. He said this was why I was a good aide, because I was patient. He told me I needed to remember, when the depression told me I was worth nothing, that I was the best aide he’d ever had.

I still didn’t know how to explain to him it was like throwing a compliment into a black hole, so I usually replied, “Okay” and hoped he’d talk about something else.

Today he did talk about something else, thankfully. “Tell me about this Darren,” he said around slurps of orange soda through his special straw, and bites of cracker and cheese. “He’s autistic like Emmet, right?”

I thought about how to phrase my answer. “He’s autistic, yes, but not like Emmet. He’s nonverbal, to start.”

“Like, he doesn’t talk? At all? But I’ve heard him whispering to videos on his iPad.”

“That’s the only time he can talk, and that’s as loud as he gets. Otherwise all he can do is make sound, but it’s more like a bark.” A thought occurred to me. “He’s like Carly Fleishmann.”

David sat up straighter, his whole demeanor becoming both serious and interested. David had a major crush on Carly Fleishmann, a young woman with autism and several other disabilities who had written a book with her father and become something of a minor social media celebrity. “Oh, okay. So does he use a keyboard to talk like she does?”

“Kind of. He uses a special sign language. Emmet knows it, but I haven’t learned much beyond the basics. It’s like ASL, but it’s modified in ways that confuse me. Mostly he uses an iPad to talk for him. He’s smart, but most people don’t think he is. All they see him doing is watching YouTube videos.”

“And you roomed with him at Icarus, right?”

I nodded, crumbling my cracker with my fingers. “Icarus is pretty grim. I wish we could get Darren into The Roosevelt.”

David gestured at the walls. “Well, I told you about the opening. God knows there’ll be more, and there’s still nobody on the waitlist, not anymore.”

“But that’s just it. He can’t afford it.”

David’s cheeks colored, like he was embarrassed. He stared at his lap. “Oh. I…I could talk to my dad, if you want. Maybe…”

He didn’t finish the thought, because he knew he couldn’t get his dad to do anything like what Darren would need. Not with The Roosevelt already in trouble.

I laid the rest out, to make it clear. “Darren can’t afford The Roosevelt, not in any way. He can’t get a job. He’s on disability, but his parents can’t afford what it costs here. I mean, I couldn’t do it without the discount from being your aide and Emmet’s help with food and things. Which I feel bad about sometimes, but there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s expensive to live here.” I realized what my remark sounded like and added, quickly, “Nothing against your dad or anything. I don’t think he charges too much.”

“No. I know what you mean. But that’s the problem, apparently. It costs a lot to run a place like this, it costs a lot to live with disabilities, and nobody wants to pay for it. Nobody can pay for it, except the state, who won’t.” He rolled his eyes. “Too busy saving the money for the normal people.”

Normal people.

I stood up and went to the window, folding my arms over my chest as I stared down at the street, at the sidewalk full of people coming and going. From school, from work. To friends, to family, to the grocery store. To the bus. Laughing, talking. None of them thinking at all about how high the curb was or how busy the crowd or how many strangers might talk to them. Normal people. These were the people who deserved the money from the state, not me. What for, I didn’t know. Tax relief, my dad would say.

They looked pretty relieved to me already.

Emmet would get after me for using the word normal, and I know he’s right, but it’s the word in my head. The people laughing on the street and not caring about anything while I was barely able to leave my apartment, barely able to get to the window to watch them—they were normal, and I was not. Emmet says they’re on the mean, but this always sounds strange to me. What was the term, the usual term? Able-bodied, David said about people who weren’t paralyzed. Technically I was able-bodied, by that standard, but I didn’t feel very able. I’m not able to do a whole hell of a lot. I decided I wasn’t able-bodied, because I was on disability, so no. The word wasn’t for me either.

Able-bodied people didn’t worry about things like I did. Like whether or not they could put themselves together enough to get through their day. Or a grocery store. Or a room cleaning. Able-bodied people didn’t have to make a strategy to get things out of a cupboard. Or have a friend over. Or make sure they had a place to live. They didn’t have to hope their parents kept paying their rent at their fancy residential facility. Or hope every time there was an election Congress didn’t decide to cut their insurance.

Able-bodied people didn’t look at history books and read about the populations sent to the gas chambers and know they would have been at the front of the line to be eliminated as unnecessary. Well, some of them did. Some of them like me had two strikes. Disabled and gay. If I were Jewish or Romany, I’d have three strikes.

I knew I wasn’t wanted. Every day, every aspect of the world, of the culture, made a point to tell me I was different and less than, and so were all my friends. And I was tired of it.

I went back to my chair, tucked my feet onto the seat, and hugged my knees.

David came closer and studied my face like he was trying to read all my secrets. “Talk to me, J.”

I shook my head, turning my face away. “If I talk, I’m going to say something awful.”

David nudged my leg with his wheel. “Hit me with it. I want to hear your awful.”

I swallowed, feeling guilty, but mostly…angry. “Sometimes I hate able-bodied people.”

I’d expected him to laugh, even bitterly, or make another one of his jokes. But all I was met with was long silence, and when he finally spoke, all he said was, “Me too, Jer. Me too.”

~What’s Coming Up Next in the Series~

Originally my intent was for The Roosevelt to be a three-book series, with David’s story being second. I struggled to write his story, however, and when I tried to write a short Christmas story for my patrons last year, I realized my problem: Emmet and Jeremey had more to say. I thought perhaps I could get away with writing their continuation as a novella, and at first I tried that. Then their story grew longer, as stories do, and as the mental health crisis in Iowa became worse, I realized there was so much more to say all around.

I think now what will happen is that at the very least there will now be a Roosevelt universe, with Carry the Ocean and Shelter the Sea being books one and two of the Oceans books, and then there being some kind of third book (maybe, finally, a novella or short story?) and then we move on to David. I’m not sure who the third book is about—I thought I knew, but I’ve decided to stop pretending I know what’s going on and simply show up and see what happens as this seems to be the better strategy, as when I drive things only get messed up. Needless to say, there will be more books coming. And more residents moving into The Roosevelt.

~The Roosevelt series~

Carry the Ocean (The Roosevelt #1)

~Blurb~

23110300Normal is just a setting on the dryer.

High school graduate Jeremey Samson is looking forward to burying his head under the covers and sleeping until it’s time to leave for college. Then a tornado named Emmet Washington enters his life. The double major in math and computer science is handsome, forward, wicked smart, interested in dating Jeremey—and he’s autistic.

But Jeremey doesn’t judge him for that. He’s too busy judging himself, as are his parents, who don’t believe in things like clinical depression. When his untreated illness reaches a critical breaking point, Emmet is the white knight who rescues him and brings him along as a roommate to The Roosevelt, a quirky new assisted living facility nearby.

As Jeremey finds his feet at The Roosevelt, Emmet slowly begins to believe he can be loved for the man he is behind the autism. But before he can trust enough to fall head over heels, he must trust his own conviction that friendship is a healing force, and love can overcome any obstacle.

Warning: Contains characters obsessed with trains and counting, positive representations of autism and mental illness, a very dark moment, and Elwood Blues.

Except they really click in the sack and end up spending the weekend together, enjoying each others’ bodies as much as their company…to Miles’ dismay.

Tied to You (Wild Side #2) by Riley Hart

imageedit_44_8150275859

I did not read the previous books in this series so I didn’t know anything about Miles and Quinn going into this book.

It starts off with the two of them spending a weekend together and it has little flashbacks of how they met. In the beginning, I felt like I had started reading in the middle of the book and had missed an important part, but after the little time jumps, things became clear to me.

tumblr_nl3rmu7Dxf1tgz4rco1_500.gif (500×282)

These two meet and hook up and what was supposed to be a one-night stand…

turns into a whole weekend spent together.

This confuses Miles especially because he doesn’t normally do repeats. Sure the sex with Quinn is awesome, but that has never been a reason for a repeat before…

When the weekend is over, he walks away like he always does, but soon they come face to face again at a bar and…

Miles just can’t resist going back for more.

P9oXkZn.gif (500×300)

Slowly these two get to know more about one another.

Where Miles keeps a lot to himself, Quinn is more outgoing and he actually gets Miles to talk and open op. These two have some things in common, they were both abandoned as children. But while Miles was adopted by a loving family, Quinn grew up in foster care. Quinn had a hard time growing up and it did leave some (invisible) scars, but he was still an all round happy kinda guy and I really liked that about him.

tumblr_n988v4pqjh1rw0e9go1_400.gif (365×273)

I had a harder time with Miles, especially in the beginning, but he grew on me the further the story got…guess he just needed some Quinn in his life.

As for the steam…I was surprised that my Ipad didn’t catch fire !!! These boys like it rough and Quinn loves Miles dominating him.

“Get on your knees for me baby boy. I want to see my cock stretching those pretty lips of yours”

f6d6e541fed0af8133ad5a3995be0905.gif (500×280)

All in all, these guys were perfect for each other.

Miles was especially struggling with some things and Quinn being there for him was everything he needed.

Author: D.J. Hunnam
Release Date: January 22, 2017
Genre: Contemporary, Erotica/Romance

~Blurb~

I don’t do relationships… especially not with egotistical jerks like my new boss, Damian Wood. The man is vile, arrogant, condescending… and scorching hot. If he weren’t my boss and a grade-A a*&hole, I would turn on my world-famous charm and seduce the pants right off the man. But giving in to his undeniable allure might just cost me my job. Or worse yet, my heart.

I’m a prick…and Janice Holder’s new boss. Which means I should stay away, but I’ve never claimed to be a nice guy. If I don’t get my twisted fascination under control, it will only be a matter of time before I bend her over my desk and screw her. Hard. The way I’ve imagined no fewer than a thousand times since we met. I’m playing with fire and neither of us can afford to get burned, but landing in hot water might just be worth the risk.

Faking It is a full-length, standalone office romance. It contains steamy scenes with a ton of heat and strong language intended for mature audiences.

~Blurb~

Successful underwear model Scott Ashworth is lucky—his attack at the hands of an unknown assailant will leave no visible scars. His professional goals are still within reach, and best of all, his stepbrother Rylan Mahoney is back in his life, their teenage infatuation, at last, getting the chance to deepen into something more.

Thrown together by the circumstances of Scott’s injury, Rylan’s long-dormant feelings for him are quickly rekindled, though he’s haunted by the memory of Scott’s disappearance on the night of his eighteenth birthday and the six missing years that followed. Rylan pushes Scott for the truth, a firm believer in the maxim that secrets lose their power once they’re shared—but resurrecting old demons almost always comes with a price.

Before Scott knows it, his life is spiraling out of control, his toxic insecurities welling up to threaten the fragile relationship he’s building with Rylan. Learning to let go of the past and believe in himself will be Scott’s greatest challenge, or else he risks losing Rylan forever this time.

Wow, this book put me through the wringer…

r3KRUYw.gif (320×231)

I was very excited to start this one after book 1 left me with that big cliffhanger.

This book starts up, right were book ended, and I won’t be saying anything about the events that took place, since I don’ t want to spoiler book 1.

These guys didn’t have it easy in book 1, but this second book doesn’t pull any pushes either. To say that their relationship was rocky would be putting it mildly.

There were times I wanted to slam my Ipad against the wall, because of Scott’s behavior.

Then I figured it would be better to slam Scott into a wall since I love my Ipad so much. 😀

fb687cf668b41e31dc558ee2cd5fd979.gif (500×253)

Now, don’t get me wrong…Scott has his reasons for behaving the way he does, but at some point, his whole “woe is me” behavior, started to grate on my nerves.

So why continue reading?

Well because the story is really good.

It kept me on the edge of my seat and Ryan…Ryan was such an amazing guy. I wanted him to be angry…I wanted him to walk away…But to be honest, that’s just not who Ryan is.

He is loving and caring and he could see right through Scott.

cf64a4e7ff060c3c45528e9073e0a6c1.gif (500×281)

It takes a long time for Scott to pull his head out of his ass, but I was so thankful when he finally did. The push and pull were driving me insane…

…but I sooo wanted my boys to be happy together.

21689041.gif (500×231)

If you don’t mind the angst, I would definitely recommend this series…

 ~Excerpt~

“Mae,” Bella whispered as I walked from the changing room and stood on the elevated plinth opposite my friends and sisters. The mirror was behind me, but I did not yet dare look at my reflection. I glanced at Bella sat beside Ruth, her mother-in-law and Rider’s mama. Her eyes were filling with tears as she stared at me. Her hands were in front of her mouth.
“Do you like it?” I ran my hand over my pronounced stomach.
Bella nodded. “You are perfect,” she whispered. Ruth nodded in agreement.
I looked at Maddie. “Madds?”
She smiled warmly. “You are beautiful, Mae, this dress only enhances that. But this gown could not suit you more if you tried.”
“Styx will love it,” Lilah said and held Grace tighter on her lap.
“You look like a Disney princess,” Grace said.
A hand came down on my arm. I turned to see Beauty behind me. “You ever gonna look in the mirror, darlin’?” She smiled. This boutique belonged to a friend of Beauty’s, and Beauty had practically organized my wedding for me. I was clueless where to even begin.
“You look good, Mae.” I smiled at Letti as she sat uncomfortably on the couch. She had told me she was here to support me, but she had no opinion in such matters as wedding dress shopping. Or anything girly, she’d said affectionately.
“Turn, honey,” Lilah said and I nodded my head. I had no idea why I was so nervous. I knew that Styx loved me and I loved him. I felt as though I had been waiting for this day my whole life. That I had been waiting for the day I finally cemented him as mine. Forever mine, and me forever his.
Closing my eyes, I turned, allowing Beauty to guide me. “You ready?” she whispered. I pulled up the image of Styx in my mind. Me in his arms as we lay in bed. His large tattooed arms holding me close as we spoke. His voice gruff and deep. Then I pictured us laughing. The infamous Hangmen Mute of the Hades Hangmen, so different with me than with anybody else. To others he was aloof, silent, and menacing. But to me, he was loving, caring, and the most beautiful soul in the world.
The other half of my heart.

I absolutely love this series.

I mean, it has a hot football player, a feisty heroine, and a “friends to lovers” trope…what’s not to love?? Kristen Callihan is definitely one of my favorite M/F authors.

rumplehappydance.gif (250×250)

I was in love with the two main characters, from the moment they meet, at a photo shoot for a naked calendar!

Finn is the quarterback and even though he loves his “job” and the attention that comes with it…being photographed while naked is not really his thing. These feelings only get worse when he meets the photographer…a feisty little lady with a weirdness name.

So what is a man to do…Right…be a cocky asshole.

“Let me guess, …You’re obsessed with finally finding One-Eyed Willie.”

52a5c14a6ea056828843b090be787f89.jpg (500×750):

Good thing that Chess (Chester Copper) has dealt with cocky assholes before and she is not intimidated by the hot quarterback.

“Make all the dick jokes you want. They won’t save you.”

She is attracted to him though, which throws her off her game a bit because, for one, he isn’t her normal type and for two…

…she is a professional for god’s sake! 😀

Unforgettable+beautiful+girls+smiles+%2821%29.jpg (500×668):

Finn feels the exact same way about Chess. But Finn doesn’t date and Chess is not interested in a hook-up. He doesn’t want to say goodbye to her though, they are so good together and she makes him feel at peace. So he proposes to be friends, which is what they become…

The best of friends…friends that lusting after one another. 😛

Neil-Patrick-Harris-Lets-Be-Friends-On-How-I-Met-Your-Mother.gif (250×141)

I loved the two of them together. Their banter was so funny, but it was also sweet to see how much they cared about each other. They can’t contain their lusty feelings for too long though…

…and something that started as a great friendship soon becomes so much more.

“You’re my girl and I’m your guy. Fate knows it. Now get with the program” 😀

These two were absolutely perfect together.

This is book number four in this series and I loved ❤ ever single one of them !!

photo tumblr_m0xtm8Dajz1qh4b99_zpsrghiego6.jpg:

This time it’s Jessie and Aiden’s turn…and I’ve been waiting for their story anxiously. 😀

Jessie was Hunter’s assistant (book 2) and Aiden the grouchy detective is Hunters best friend and Ty’s brother (book 3)

These two have been sniffing around each other for ages, so the time has finally come for them to get together.
The hardest part for me to read in this book was the reason they finally do come together. There is a major tragedy that happens and I was balling my eyes out within the first pages !!

tumblr_n74n46Ozam1ts7f01o1_500.gif (500×250)

Jessie was such a strong and sweet character, my heart broke for him on more than one occasion, but he really earned my respect with his strength and positivity !!

photo 70b51f152c6ca0c9756437c097ee4bb1_zpsniqf8bfk.jpg:

Aiden was a harder nut to crack. He was Jessie’s rock, but he has his own demons to fight and Aiden’s demons won’t give up so easily. Even though Aiden is Mr. tough detective, Jessie is the real hero in this book to me.

He never gave up on Aiden and his love for the man was admirable !!

photo 72f4f39411093e705122d8669ff09818_zpsn6tdvdhl.jpg:

I really enjoyed this book, but I have to agree with my friend Susan on this one. I think Jessie’s tragedy and suffering was a bit brushed over. It seemed like he got the short end of the stick on this one. Everything is mostly about Aiden and his struggles. What happened to him was awful, but I just didn’t understand why he wouldn’t talk to Jessie. Jessie bared his freaking soul to him and I just wanted Aiden to wake up and smell the coffee !!

I really loved this one, but I would have loved to read more about Jessie and what he was going through.

Now this book deals with some heavy topics, such as (sexual) abuse, torture, and violence, but it also has a lot of love and fun times. I loved Jessie’s obsession with balls !!!! The steam level in this one is a bit lower than in the previous one, but that is to be expected.

There was still some hotness though….don’t worry. 😛

I will leave my review with an Aidenism.  😀

photo 0514028da494c2416834a30ff46a83727bc454-wm_zpsgm1zd1ic.jpg:

Now I will stay and wait (im)patiently for book 5!  😉 😀

Wow…I absolutely loved this one!!! ❤

swooning.gif (400×212)

So we’ve met Cole in book 2 and I loved him ever since.

He’s awesome funny and I love his food in mouth syndrome.

I admit…I have a little Cole crush going on. 😀

 photo robin-has-a-big-appetite-for-delicious-food-how-i-met-your-mother_zpslhd81xzz.gif

Cole’s in the Halfway House because he stole a car (he stole much more than one, but he only got caught for one). He did 2 years in jail.

Cole pic:

If you’ve read book 2 then you know, Hunter gave him a car. But he has to earn it. He has to stay out of trouble, find a job and so on. He really wants that car…so he’s gonna need a job. Aiden (also from book 2) helps him with that. His brother owns a very big garage and he can use some help.

That’s when he meets Ty…Ty is Aiden’s brother and he has some serious problems. He’s suffering physically and mentally.

Ty:

But who can be dark and broody when Cole is around. No one I tell you !!!

Ty was very sweet and adorable (in a manly way of course)

Now this one has some drama/angst, but not a lot and not between the MC’s. They were really good for each other. I’m not gonna say much more, you’ll just have to read it. I would advise to at least read book 2, because of all the recurring characters.

4918821.gif (500×220)

I just have one thing that bothered me a bit…This one does not have a whole lot of steam and what’s there is over in the blink of an eye. The sex is definitely not very detailed. I’m a bit disappointed about that. It’s a very nice and slow build, there was tons of sexual tension…so I wanted an explosion and I wanted details about that explosion. I didn’t get it. 😦

Don’t get me wrong, there was sex…I just…needed a bit more after all that build up.

I can’t wait for the next book about Jessie and Aiden. 😀
