The passion might be scorching, but their hearts and friendship are on the line. If their romance is going to survive the flight home, they have to be honest about what they want.

~About the Author~

Author, photographer, rare Pacific Northwest Native, Elle grew up in Seattle, WA., with the Cascade Mountain range to the east and Olympics to the west. Less than two hours northwest lie the majestic San Juan Islands. To the northeast is the Methow Valley and the scrub deserts of Eastern Washington. Geography ripe with material.

A graduate of Western Washington University, Elle has a BS in biology which taught her to be tenacious. The closest she has come to biology since then is having two kids. Like an experiment or something. She’s lived in four states (none of which were gaseous), London England, and Hong Kong; always knows what time it is, and has no problem finding parking even in the most difficult places. Cannot balance a checking account.

Elle’s series Accidental Roots, mostly set in the Skagit Valley of Western Washington, will make its debut spring of 2017. Storm Season is tender, sometimes irreverent, full of nosy neighbors and help when the hero didn’t think he needed it. Writing has always been a passion but not something she was able to take seriously until recently. Now her head is full of ideas and not enough time in each day.

How the hell do you end up from blowing an FBI-Agent in the backroom of a bar…

…to being his babysitter and then lover within a few weeks???

And, what is more, when you did not even deign him a second glance so far, much less like him particularly? Well, it happens faster than you think…

Sterling Bailey, outwardly gruff, but at the bottom of his heart caring bartender at The Loft in Skagit, WA, has his own problems, even without help from the outside to make it worse.

The police are on a manhunt for a fourteen-year-old boy. They say he's injured, but dangerous, and issue a warning for everyone to be on the lookout. Your character stumbles upon the boy in an alleyway on a late night.

Turned adrift by his own parents at a very young age due to his sexual orientation and being forced to do everything to survive on the streets, he had landed on his feet again. But this betrayal of confidence comes at a price. Trusting someone is not easy for him and why doing the whole commitment thing when you can just do hookups with no strings attached?

When a blowjob at his bar leads to another one -which is dead against his own life philosophy- and he suddenly seems to be the only person under the sun who is able to take care of said hookup when he is severely injured, his resolve gets rattled with each day he spends with the man and slow but steady he develops feelings he never wanted to feel.

FBI-Agent Carroll Weir -yes, there are a million jokes about his name out there and believe me, he has heard them all- is so done with this rainy dump called Skagit and cannot wait to get the hell out of dodge after the case he worked on for months is mostly wrapped up. His bags are packed, his flight to SoCal almost booked and he already sees himself on a surfboard again and basking in the sun.

A phone call from his boss shatters his daydream and he never would have thought that the murder of a Fish and Wildlife Detective and the possible poaching of a cock-shaped clam would fall under his duties, but so much for his luck. Oh, Weir likes cock, but the real deal, not such nightmare-inducing, the running-him-into-the-ground thing that ends up in a case without any lead.

A hookup at a bar seems to be just the right cure, but what was supposed to be a stress relief makes for an experience he cannot get out of his head, or rather he cannot get the guy out of his head. Sterling Bailey with his goth appearance and his judgmental behavior is a guy who is so not on his bucket list, but a hell of a surprise when it comes down to it.

“His first impression that Sterling judged and found the rest of the world lacking had been replaced by the understanding that Sterling held his true self-aloof out of self-preservation. Sterling was most comfortable feeling separate from the crowd; it had become his safe place.”

But Weir does not do relationships. He has built up a protective barrier around his heart due to his own past so he would not get hurt again. A tragedy in form of the disappearance of his sister ripped his family apart when he was a kid and instead of holding onto the child who was still there, both parents blamed him and abandoned him one way or the other, which left Weir with a feeling of never being good enough.

When the case or rather the murderer comes too close for comfort to Weir and nearly costs him his life, both men are forced to spend more time together than they prefer, and they discover gradually that they are more alike than they think.

“Leaving Skagit, Sterling hoped, had been a self-protective measure. If Weir didn’t allow himself to get attached, then he wouldn’t get hurt. And, yeah, Sterling knew that because it was one of his own classic moves.”

Their somewhat love-hate relationship turns into deeper feelings neither of them can ignore until the disappearance of Sterling’s sister reopens old sores for Weir and threatens to destroy their tentative chance for love.

Slowly but surely I feel at home in this town, despite the sordid details that come to light bit by bit.

The atmosphere is so vivid, I can virtually visualize the scenery and feel like I would know each resident inside out. Elle Keaton once again managed that I fell in love with both main characters right from the start. Granted, I already liked Weir in the previous books, but now that I came to know more about his past, I loved him even more.

After the second book, I already shipped him with another character, namely Buck’s friend Miguel, but the author did a great job in making me believe that due to their past Weir and Sterling are a match made in heaven. The relationship development once again left nothing to be desired and what I love in particular is that it was a different approach in each book so far, from insta-love in the first one to friends to lovers in the second and now this love-hate relationship in the third story.

The mystery part was a bit too muddled and also a tad OTT for me this time. Don’t get me wrong, the author de-muddled it perfectly in the end and it was interesting to get to know more about “conversion” therapy. It is still hard for me to believe that some people revert to such drastic measures, although it is proven that they fail spectacularly.

I just wish the solving of the case, or rather of both cases, would have been not so overly dramatic and did not exude the feeling of watching a B-movie sometimes.

But overall the romance was once again in the focus of the story and that is all that matters to me. imageedit_78_3543283961

~Excerpt~

Excerpt

With a low
chuckle I roll over on my bed to eyeball the stolen file that I’d slapped on my
bedside table last night before crashing. I’m feeling rather pleased with
myself until my gaze encounters Jake. My gleeful chortle dies a quick death.
He’s
leaning against my bedroom wall, bare-chested, arms folded, and wearing nothing
but a pair of black boxer-briefs and a furious glare.
My gaze
drops to the bed where Jake has laid out the black beanie used to cover my pale
hair, and the black leather gloves that kept my fingerprints from any surface I
came in contact with.
Fuck. The sun is streaming in through the blinds and
I know it must be late morning already. Clearly I’d forgotten to set the
morning alarm. A rookie mistake. And now I need to get past the gauntlet that
is Jake and somehow get the file to Casey before he enacts his own plan to
retrieve it.
My eyes
flick up, meeting his. “Morning,” I say coolly.
His jaw
ticks. “Care to explain?”
Jake’s car
keys rest on top of the report file and I know he’s seen them. Not only had I
performed a break and enter last
night, I had also added car theft to
my criminal repertoire. Explaining that will
likely cause my untimely death. I pretend to consider his question for a
moment. “Not really.”
Jake pushes
off from the wall and moves toward the bed, bringing him closer. “Well you’re
going to.”
“No,” I
say, casually sliding across the mattress and away from Jake. “Not today. I
have things to—”
Putting one
knee on the bed, Jake leans across and grabs the back of my long-sleeved shirt
in his fist. He yanks and the distinct sound of a riiipppppp renders the air.
“My shirt,”
I gasp as I fly through the air, landing on my back on the mattress with a hard
bounce.
“I don’t
give a rat’s fucking ass about your shirt,” he growls, straddling my body.
His hard
thighs trap me in place and his hands pin mine to the bed. Moving will likely
end with a cracked rib.
Jake leans
his face down until I can’t look anywhere but in his eyes. “You can start with
why you’re dressed like a thieving little bandit.”
“Because I
stole your car.”
“Why did
you steal my car?”
“Because I
couldn’t get a cab.”
I actually
considered calling for a taxi but then my movements would be on public record,
easily placing me at the scene. I’d had to rule it out.
“Stop
leading me in circles, Princess, and spit it the fuck out. What did you do?”
I huff
deeply, letting my frustration out. Jake isn’t going to just let this go. It
leaves me with two choices. Lie or be honest. I chose door number two, because
while I sometimes keep things from Jake, he doesn’t deserve outright deceit.
I spill out
my early hours adventure, rethinking my choice of honesty as he sits back on
the bed, his fury a slow-building thunderstorm.
There’s
silence for a tense moment when I finish speaking.
“You
committed a felony,” he says in a soft voice. I’m not fooled by the tone. His
anger is a barely leashed lion. “And you used my car to do it.”
My lips
press in a thin line. I hadn’t thought that particular implication through, and
now I’m angry at myself. “I’m sorry.”
His
expression narrows to one of vengeful retribution. “Oh you’ll be sorry.”
“I will?”
“When I
paddle your fucking ass.”
“Jake—”
“Shut it,”
he growls, his voice rising. “You broke into a detective’s house. You stole her
property. You—”
“Casey’s
property,” I mutter.
“Don’t
interrupt me when I’m explaining your stupidity to you.”

Publisher: Loveswept
Page Count: 182 pages
Release Date: September 12, 2017
Genre(s): Romance, Paranormal/Vampires

Rating: 4 Stars out of 5

~Synopsis~

Enter a world of immortal danger and desire—and discover an incredible fate borne of blood.
Tendra: One minute, I’m a bartender in gritty Mission City; the next, I’m whisked away by a vampire named Athan who tells me that I’m the lifeblood of his clan. It sounds unbelievable, but he’s got evidence I can’t deny. Turns out, Athan belongs to an underground society of vampires who feed only on humans with their consent. Their enemies have no such qualms, and they want me dead. The only thing standing in their way is strong, sexy Athan. And the closer we get, the more tempted I am to let Athan feed. . . .
Athan: How could I have known when I snatched this snarky, beautiful human off the streets that she would change my destiny? As a loyal soldier, I must deliver Tendra to our future king—my brother. Empowered with the blood of ten generations of the Gregorie breed, she is fated to rule as our queen. But there’s something between us that’s so intoxicating, so carnal, I can’t help wanting Tendra for myself . . . even if it’s treason.

I am a big sucker for vampires, so when I saw this baby on Netgalley, I knew I had to read it.

season 6 halloween episode 8 buffy the vampire slayer vampire GIF

Tendra is a waitress, who one day after her shift, gets snatched off the street and kidnapped. She is thrown into a world, where all of a sudden vampires are real and she herself is supposed to be  “Sanguivita” ( meal ticket) for the clan’s king, because of her “special” blood.

Movies GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Of course, Tendra was quite shocked at first, but evidence suggest, her kidnapper Athen, is not talking out of his ass. 😛

Apparently, there are different kinds of vampires. Those that only feed with consent, and those that don’t give a damn about the human envolved. Those are the dangerous kind and they are now after Tendra…This is where Athen comes in.He is her Blood Guard and he is supposed to keep her safe and deliver her to the clan’s king…

…Who is also his brother…

jaydenkiss GIF

The two of them go on the run…but being chased by bad vampires isn’t the only problem they are facing…

There is also the little fact of them falling for each other.

I really enjoyed reading this one and I think it was a promising start to a new series.

I also got a few laughs in, which is always a plus for me.  It was definitely inst-lovey, but for some reason, with PNR books, I don’t care so much.  I also really liked the MC’s. Kendra was pretty badass, though Athan was a bit softer than I expected him to be.

I am very curious about book 2.

An ARC was kindly provided to me via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

~Blurb~

My life plan is to be brutally honest all the way to the bank. Don’t believe me? I run a popular YouTube channel called TrashyZane, and my claim to fame is oversharing about every aspect of my personal life. Sometimes while tipsy. Not everyone loves my style, but I have a long history of icing out people who can’t handle me. I have no time for judgmental foolishness.

Except, apparently, when it comes to Beau Starr. His channel is the polar opposite of mine, and so is he. Wholesome, inspirational, and clean-cut. Everything about him should turn me off, but when we hook up following a confrontation at a convention, my world flips upside down. Not only does Beau Starr turn me on, he uses the exact combination of dirty talk and roughness needed to turn me out.

But we still hate each other. I think.

“I think you’ve had guys turn you out and make you drool, but I don’t think you’ve ever had the kind of sex that you don’t even want to talk about because you’re scared it was all a dream.”

“What would it be like to kiss Zane without the hang-up of sex? Just a press of the lips, a brief taste. Did he kiss slow? Fast?”

Zane: 😀 “Aw Beau baby, you really do have a heart behind all those Crest White Strips.”

~Excerpt~

Excerpt

I shifted closer to him, and, like an invisible rope was pulling us together, he leaned into me, until I could feel his breath and the heat from his body. I cupped his face, rubbing my thumb over the corner of his lip, then closed the distance between us to press a soft kiss to his lips. I didn’t control this kiss, and neither did he. It was an equal give and take, a push and pull of our tongues, our breaths, as our hands grasped each other’s faces, hair, skin.

Every time with Zane had been a rush to get off, but this time, I wanted to explore his mouth, to enjoy the kiss without it being foreplay. It was the main attraction to moan into Zane’s mouth, to feel his soft, huffed breaths.

When I pulled away, I was dizzy, and Zane’s eyes were glazed, his lips wet and puffy. I was terrified at what I felt in that moment, how much I wanted to fall back into the kiss, to not worry about what anyone thought, or how Beau Starr would be forever changed if word got out he’d fallen for TrashyZane. And in this car with Los Angeles spread out before us, I didn’t want to think about anything but the messy, long-haired boy who’d managed to loosen my tongue and just about every other part of me.

“I kinda like you, Zane. A lot.”
His eyelids fell to half-mast.“I like you too, Beau. A lot.”

The rain pelted down as he made his way up the ridge, thick sheets that obscured his vision and made the terrain slippery and treacherous. Overhead, a large black bird with a colorful beak swooped in, almost sending Ben skidding into a ravine.

He whistled low, a deliberate pattern, one of the team’s signals. He repeated the sound as he approached where Maddox was supposed to be. An answering signal came from a dense thicket of green vegetation.

“It’s me. Hold your fire,” Ben called as he slipped into the mass of trees and roots. The plants here were nothing like the ones back home—giant heart-shaped leaves and bright rubbery flowers that almost looked bird- or insect-like. The trees had massive, visible roots covered with moss, and were connected by thick vines that could easily be mistaken for a deadly snake.

Below him, he could see the encampment, SEALs scurrying around. The injured hostage and Issacson, their wounded radio man, were carried out, which had to mean the chopper was close. Time to haul ass. “Maddox?”

“Here.” Maddox slid out of the shadows, rifle at the ready, just as Ben had expected. “Com’s down for you guys too?”

“Yup. Chopper’s coming in. LT sent me to bring you in. No time to waste. Issacson took a bullet, but he’s stable, and one of the hostages is in bad shape. Possible hostiles escaped, but Rogers and company are hunting them down.”

“Got it. Lead the way.” Maddox let Ben take point as they made their way down the ridge. They had to skirt the edge of a steep drop, every muddy step cautious even as they needed to make haste.

Crack.

Whoosh.

Two things happened at the same instant—gunfire broke out above them and a chopper approached, engine noise making it hard to track the source of the shots. But Maddox was already on it, crouching low, rifle ready. Another shot whistled over their heads and Maddox returned fire. They both left the trail and headed into the brush, intent on finding the hostiles.

The chopper circled low, then went back up. Fuck. The chopper was struggling to land in the encampment clearing, which meant the next pass was critical. Still staying low and gun ready, he inched forward. No more gunfire had followed Maddox’s, but that didn’t mean he could let his guard down for a second.

The chopper circled again, but the terrain had shifted and Ben could no longer see the encampment beneath them.

Fuck.” Maddox never cursed, so Ben whipped his head around just in time to see Maddox slipping off the poor excuse for a trail.

Ben scrambled on his stomach, stretching out an arm, trying to catch Maddox. “Grab on.”

“No. Don’t—” Maddox didn’t get the sentence out before they were both tumbling down the muddy incline, heading straight for the ravine that lay between them and the encampment. Ben tried to slow their descent but his attempt to grab at some vines only resulted in the foliage following them down.

Maddox screamed, a legitimate yell that chilled Ben to his boots because Maddox never lost composure. Ever. Ben had once watched Wizard put sutures in Maddox’s scalp while Maddox hummed, never dropping his tune.

Ben grabbed for him again and— Pop. Ben’s arm pulled at an unnatural angle, caught up in a tree root and not Maddox’s strong grip as he’d intended. He wrenched loose but the damage was already done, and still he slid, mud carrying him faster, rocks and vegetation raining down after them.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.” Ben’s arm and shoulder were on fire and he was still moving, sliding, nothing working—

Boom. The bottom of the ravine arrived without warning, a muddy bog that sucked him down, but it was hardly a soft landing, rocks and plants poking at him. His arm had him cursing, eyes watering. He’d seen Rogers dislocate a shoulder last year in the grinder obstacle course, and at the time he’d rolled his eyes at how Rogers had carried on. He had a sick feeling that he’d done the same or worse to his shoulder, and he got the urge to cry and howl.

“Oh fuck.” His stomach heaved and he barely made it to his side before he threw up from the pain. He turned his head and almost lost his guts again. Maddox lay a few feet from him, leg at an unnatural angle, blood dripping from his head, helmet nowhere to be seen. Not talking or cursing.

Clawing at the rocks with his good arm, Ben pulled himself closer, looking for the telltale rise and fall of Maddox’s chest—and not seeing it.

“You are not fucking with me,” Ben growled. “Mad? Come on, man.”

Still nothing, not even a ghost of movement across Maddox’s pale lips. Terror, nothing Ben had ever known before, froze his veins, made him lightheaded from more than just the fall. He refused, utterly refused to live in a world where Maddox wasn’t okay.

“Maddox. Horvat.” He shook his shoulder, cursing under his breath. No, no, no.

Whoosh. A chopper—the chopper—flew overhead, much too far to spot them down this ravine, and heading away from them.

Sputter. Maddox let out a mighty cough. It might have been the most beautiful sound Ben had ever heard, because it meant Maddox was here, that he was fighting, and Ben started to laugh with relief until Maddox spoke. “Heck. They’re leaving us.”

They always say that the greatest things come in small packages and in this case, I totally agree!!

the-best-things-come-in-small-packages-2.png (600×700):

This book may be short, but it comes with all kinds of delicious and funny goodness. 😀

First, let me start by saying, that this book can not be read as a stand alone. It’s a collection of stories about Rowe and Noah, so their book should be read before this one.

This series works with a continuing storyline, so it should definitely be read in order. No worries for those of you who haven’t started this series yet.

You have all these wonderful books to look forward too and you are definitely in for a treat. 😉

18.png (433×328):

Those of you who have read the previous book, know all about Rowe and Noah. I think they are the funniest couple out of all of them and they certainly brought the fun in this book!!

“Peering around Noah, he noticed that he wasn’t wearing briefs with a Santa face, but a jockstrap with red straps accentuating Noah’s perfect ass. There was even a small sprig of mistletoe fastened to the back strap, just above Noah’s crack.”

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor laughing + gif

One thing is for sure…these two definitely know how to have a good time. They are also very good at setting the pages on fire!

“I need you in me fucking bare. Gotta feel it when you come.”

I absolutely adored these little stories. It was sweet, funny and hot and I loved the fact that Rowe was finally at peace and allowed himself to really move on and forward…

Now the big question…why not 5 full stars??

Well for one, I gave the novels 5 stars, because there was so much awesomeness in those, but also because this book lacked one very important thing…well at least for me that is. 😛

HOLLIS!!!

This book deserves 4 exquisite and yummy Maddox’s cupcakes.

 :

Though this is book 3 in the “Out of Uniform” series by Annabeth Albert, it could be perfectly read as a standalone. In fact, “On Point” is my first book in this series and I enjoyed it so much, that I’m gonna read the first two as prequels.

There is something beautiful in the way this story starts, with Maddox and Ben taking care of each other in a mission that has gone down. The author shows us a protective Ben, a worried Maddox, and the solid bound both share.
Just watching them interact is enough to know there is trust there. There are loyalty and reliance.

And, of course, there are feelings.

” He couldn’t imagine a team without Maddox on it, couldn’t imagine a world where they didn’t head out together”

As we are witnessing these two men having each other’s back, both are remembering the past, so the present is interspersed with great flashbacks that show the reader how they met, how they bonded and how one night changed everything between them…

Maddox and Ben have been friends for 12 years and theirs is a fantastic friends-to-lovers story. Intense, deep and sweet.

“They weren’t a couple. Couldn’t be a couple. Simple truth was that he had no idea  how to be the man Maddox needed and deserved, and no amount of near-death experiences could change that”

Maddox is adorable, he is a tough navy seal who loves to bake and has a lovely incapacity of course. But most of all, he is a guy in love who has been repressing truths and feelings for a decade now.

Ben is harder, tougher, bitter and more cynical than Maddox. He is the hookup where Maddox is the dating. He is the sexual being when his best friend is the “boyfriend”. He is the practical guy who uses sex as stress relief, where Maddox is the easy optimism prayer who doesn’t sleep around.

“Just friends. As always. He is my best friend”

Both MCs are nearly 30 years old and, as grown experienced men, they have been through a couple of serious and intense relationships. They, as gay military men, have waited for the DADT policy to end, and they have faced family rejection and all kind of dangers together. So they know who they are, they know each other and they have lived their lives. They just need to figure out what to do now, how to face their friendship.

I really loved the book’s structure. Because the seriousness of the present is perfectly mixed with the hotness of the past. Steamy past that is cut in critical moments leaving you drooling and wanting more. So much more.
That present/past frame becomes full mode present with the developing of one of the sweetest, challenging (for them) and natural love story I’ve read lately.

The UST, the jealousy and the denial in this book were delicious.

This is my first time reading Annabeth Albert and I really enjoyed the writing. The friends to lovers thing were perfectly executed and felt natural. They have been friends for a while but not both being single at the same time, so even if the attraction was there they didn’t act or react on this matter. Not at first, at least.

I loved Ben being in denial. Funny and cute as hell. And even if Maddox seems to be the one who has all figured out, he is not. He didn’t want to go deeply into his feelings…

So he is nearly as scared as Ben is.

My favorite things in this story:

  • Very, very likable characters, with their flaws and their problems. Hot alpha males that I really loved.
  • The sex scenes were terrific, perfectly dosed and ridiculously hot. I blushed a lot. Big lust in my case, and it’s not always easy to me. These two are dirty.
  • The mix between sweet, dirty and sad/hard moments. Even if I would say this book is not too angsty, it contains hard things to face, sad situations and serious issues that are perfectly measured with the romantic aspect.

So, I’m reading the first two installments. Both couples made a cameo here but I need more. I especially want to know about the guy who said this:

“Aww. Our favorite odd not-a-couple is back together”

Yeah, it was Apollo and knowing he has kids it’s making me nothing but eager. I love MM stories with kids. Recommended!

I recommended this book!imageedit_44_8150275859

I absolutely love this series and though this book wasn’t my favorite out of all of them, it was definitely the hottest!!

Phewww I am still fanning myself. 😀

anigif_original-grid-image-18178-1454089769-6.gif (335×250)

These books are stand alone stories, but both Zane and Beau are introduced in book 3…so I would advise reading that book first.

Beau is Jesse’s (book 3) cousin and he is quite the famous vlogger. He is very well known in the YouTube community for his perfect image…even his followers are called “beautifuls” LOL. No one knows though, that behind this perfect image…

A whole other side of him is hiding…

akNfeZVwyR.gif (320×240)

Beau has been burned pretty bad in the past by really his true self and with an awesome deal on the line and thousands of people watching him…he isn’t taking any chances.

Zane is the complete opposite of Beau. His YouTube name is “TrashyZane” and he calls his followers “skanks”. Zane is all about being his true self online. He has learned a long time ago to say “fuck it”…

To anyone who doesn’t accept him the way he is.

5iFm4JV.gif (500×268)

So these two have been sworn enemies in the YouTube community for a long time. But what happens when they actually get close and find out that are more perfectly matched for each other then they thought. Kinky sex is what happens!!! 😛

Beau loved giving it hard and Zane was more than willing to submit to Beau’s dominance. Who would have guessed Beau was such an awesome dirty-talker. 😛

“Your dick is leaking like a faucet,” “You don’t have to speak at all, do you, Zane? This cock of yours is begging in its own.”

68747470733a2f2f73332e616d617a6f6e6177732e636f6d2f776174747061642d6d656469612d736572766963652f53746f7279496d6167652f716b5545704731644c6971782d513d3d2d3232383438303432392e313433393230306633323839656236362e676966 (500×255)

Now just because the two of them bumped uglies…that doesn’t mean they are friends all of a sudden. It only means that they are a match in the bedroom.

“We hate-fucked and still hate each other.”

Slowly though they start to get to know each other and they learn that there is more beneath the image they portray. They even become friends…

“You know I could probably like you”. “Yeah, I could maybe like you too”.

Their friendship evolves and I loved reading all the text messages they send to one another. They both start opening up and their friendship turns to love. But when Beau’s past comes back to haunt him, he will seriously need to step up his game…and do some delicious groveling

anigif_enhanced-buzz-14369-1421838272-6.gif (500×273)

I really enjoyed this book. Though it still deals with some issues, it’s much lighter than the previous book. It wasn’t as funny as book 2 though, which is still my favorite!

I am leaving this review with my favorite scene because it seriously cracked me up. 😀

“He puckered his lips in a kiss, and I turned away. In response, he whipped his hair in my face. Strands were clinging to me. At the end of the panel, I’d probably be reeking of grapefruit while hacking up a Zane hairball.

“I’ll show you there’s a reason I don’t blast my sex life all over YouTube.”

~Excerpt~

Excerpt                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        “Look, if I go clean up are you going to run out the door?”

“Would it bother you if I did?”

Beau frowned. “If I say yes, is it guaranteed you’ll do it just to bother me?” My mouth twitched. He rocked against me. “I’m serious.”

“Fine.” I sighed exaggeratedly, like he was really hassling me. “I’ll stay for a few.”

“Good.” Beau stood up, and I was suddenly eye level with his taut, sculpted stomach. “There’s another bathroom in my bedroom. And…you can grab some shorts from the chest if you don’t want to sit around naked.”

I almost asked him what the hell we were going to be sitting around doing, but kept my mouth shut. He went to the bathroom between the living room and kitchen, and I explored the rest of his apartment while slathered in jizz. It was almost as nice as mine, but nowhere near as artsy. My grandmother had helped me furnish it after shopping at thrift stores and refinishing furniture, but Beau’s apartment was kind of like a showroom. Eerily perfect.

Either way, his bathroom was on point with the lighting and shower, so I jumped in quickly after tying my hair in a knot. I rinsed off, wrapped myself in a super-plush towel, and then snagged a pair of cut off shorts and a T-shirt that had his fucking face on it, which was too funny to not wear.

I waltzed out in my new outfit and found him on the phone with…a menu in his hand. Freezing, I fucked up my entrance and gaped when he waved it in my face.

“Do you like Mediterranean food?”

“Uh. What?”

Beau looked at me like I was an idiot. “Zane. Tell me what you want to eat.”

“Oh. Um. I don’t know. I don’t not like any foods.”

He rolled his eyes and rattled off enough food to feed an entire family. When it was done, and he told them to charge his account, he pointed at the shirt I’d procured.

“Just so you know, I didn’t have that made.”

“Uh-huh. But before I mock you relentlessly, why are you ordering food? Like, just because you’re trying to make up for being a dick doesn’t mean—”

Beau grabbed the front of the shirt and a ripping sound filled the room. He didn’t even pause. Just jerked me against him and kissed me so hard I lost my train of thought. Fuck, I lost my sense of self. Fell headfirst into the intensity of his kiss and then wrapped my arms around his neck because… I really could not get enough.

His soft lips were perfect, his tongue lashing at mine with such finesse my dick started to swell again. Especially when he tangled his hand in my hair and tugged just hard enough to make my knees weaken.

“Fuck me before the food gets here,” I blurted.

Beau pressed our foreheads together, panting against my face. “We just washed up. And I want to talk to you.”

“We can talk later.” Fuck, was I whining? I was whining. “Please, Beau?”

He squeezed his eyes shut, muttered a very clear fuck it, and then backed me into his bedroom. We were on his bed, clothes discarded, so fast my head was spinning with delight. How Beau Starr was the best kisser I’d ever been with was a mystery, but, damn, the guy’s tongue was magic.

~Blurb~

Ginger Holtzman has fought for everything she’s ever had—the success of her tattoo shop, respect in the industry, her upcoming art show. Tough and independent, she has taking-no-crap down to an art form. Good thing too, since keeping her shop afloat, taking care of her friends, and scrambling to finish her paintings doesn’t leave time for anything else. Which … is for the best, because then she doesn’t notice how lonely she is. She’ll get through it all on her own, just like she always does.

Christopher Lucen opened a coffee and sandwich joint in South Philly because he wanted to be part of a community after years of running from place to place, searching for something he could never quite name. Now, he relishes the familiarity of knowing what his customers want, and giving it to them. But what he really wants now is love.

When they meet, Christopher is smitten, but Ginger … isn’t quite so sure. Christopher’s gorgeous, and kind, and their opposites-attract chemistry is off the charts. But hot sex is one thing—truly falling for someone? Terrifying. When her world starts to crumble around her, Ginger has to face the fact that this fight can only be won by being vulnerable—this fight, she can’t win on her own.

Small Change is the first book in a series that will include M/F and M/M romances.

~Praise for Small Change~

“Small Change is a gem. A beautifully written, deeply emotional story with tons of life bursting out of it’s pages. I loved this story! Can’t wait for more.” –Molly O’Keefe, USA Today Bestselling Author

I can always count on Roan Parrish to deliver emotional truths and gritty realism. Like many readers, I was waiting for Ginger’s story. And what a story it was!” — Sarina Bowen, USA Today Bestselling author of Goodbye Paradise

“It sounds anemic to say, ‘You will fall in love with Ginger,’ but you will! This tattoo artist heroine manages to be both a delight and a total badass at the same time. Parrish makes her characters work for their happily ever after, which means Small Change has it all: vulnerability and great big leaps of faith, broken hearts and patched-together hearts the stronger for that patching. (Also: smashing the patriarchy and amazing sandwiches.)” –Jenny Holiday, USA Today Bestselling author.

Quotes from Small Change

“I felt like a feather drifting over the rooftops, kept aloft by the breeze and a kind of happiness I’d never know.”

“He was love, and hope, and appreciation. I was yearning, and trepidation, and the fear of grasping at nothing.”

~Excerpt~

Christopher broke into a smile. He put my coffee on the counter between us and held up the bagel for a long moment, assessing me. Instead of putting it in a bag, he put it on a plate with a napkin. His raised his eyebrows over eyes sparkling with mischief, and bit his lip, like he was waiting to see if I’d call his bluff. He looked like a kid reaching for a second cookie when he’d been told he could have one.

Warmth bloomed in my chest at the idea that he was actively angling to have me stay here and talk with him as I ate. “Wow, you’re not subtle, huh?” I said.

“Nope.”

His p popped, and his grin was sunny and boyish. I liked his lack of subtlety. That he was clear about wanting me to stay.

I narrowed my eyes at him, just in case he was joking, but I left the bagel where it was. I shrugged out of my jacket and draped it over the stool, then I sat down across the counter from him. He squeezed his hands into fists and grinned.

“Yay,” he said softly, and I felt another trickle of warmth flow through me that had nothing to do with the coffee.

I think.

Holy kink, this was hot!!!

First things first: DO NOT READ THIS IN PUBLIC if you don’t want to get caught hyperventilating and with a beet-red face without wanting to explain why. Boy, was I glad that I had time off from work, so I could read the book at home and believe me when I say that my urge to take one cold shower after another was never stronger. These authors sure know how to write sex scenes and if you like the whole package of dirty talk, bondage, kink and sex toys while getting down and dirty you will be in book heaven. Promise!

Two men who like it rough, one on the receiving and the other on the performing end, should be the perfect match, right? Umm, wrong. Okay, one challenge and a hot and kinky night together prove that they are if it weren’t for the teensy-weensy fact that they hate each other. With a passion.

“He ran his gaze down my body, heating my skin inch by inch on the way down, and freezing it on the way up until he met my eyes with a glare.”

TrashyZane and Beau Starr are both….

…celebrities… but their images are as different as day and night.

Zane is as real as it gets. He rebels against being pigeonholed and his bias for fishnet stockings is part of that. His channel is more like a diary about his everyday life and his snappy mouth has absolutely no filter. He is not ashamed to tell his subscribers about his preferences in bed, right down to the last detail, and to post the messy visuals to prove it.

Coming from a hypocrite parental home, he learned to stand on his own two feet early on and made it his purpose to fight against hypocrisy and his pet peeve slut-shaming, only with the support of his loving, caring and absolutely awesome grandmother.

Beau Starr is more illusion than reality. His image is that of the nice boy next door, always with a smile on his face and a perfect outward appearance.

Messy

That is nothing but a facade, though. Beau comes with baggage. Baggage in form of his ex-boyfriend who preyed on him and betrayed his confidence insomuch, that Beau had a hard time to leave it all behind and gain control over his life again. Then there are his parents, who love him, but also love to interfere in his life and make it difficult for him to live up to their standard.

“After years of carefully cultivating my image, I could turn on the charm with ease. Beau Starr was me, but a better version of me, the one who didn’t let anything bother him, who always had a snappy comeback, and who certainly didn’t have a messy past.”

It’s hard for him to trust and let somebody in his life again, especially not someone who seems to be a mess.

“I grabbed the hair at the base of his neck, yanked it down, and crashed my lips onto his. He tasted like alcohol, pop rocks, and bad decisions.”

One passionate and oh so kinky night of sex in a hotel room between Zane and Beau turns their world upside down and reveals that there might be more to the other than meets the eye, even if they are above unwilling to admit it. What seems to be just based on a mutual desire at first, turns gradually into respect and deeper feelings for each other, until one kneejerk reaction on Beau’s part could destroy everything.

First of all, I have to admit that this book was not my favorite in this series. Maybe it was once again a case of too high expectation since I could not wait to get Zane and Beau’s story after reading Hard Wired, but aside from the hot sex scenes the first half of the story fell a bit flat for me. It took me three days to read the first half and only one to read the second. That alone should be indication enough, that the second half made more than up for the first, though. 😉

Personally (and that is really just me), I think that these books should come with an index. Just like Hard Wired, I had some issues with the -admittedly, this time, not gamer, but rather- YouTuber speech… Maybe it is the fact that the guys in this book are not my generation or that English is not my mother tongue, but I had to google quite a lot of words again and the shortcuts they used gave me a feeling that I should play more Scrabble.

But did I already mention the melting-the-paint-of-your-wall hot sex? No? I thought I did.

Well, maybeI should rather show you and let the gif speak for itself…

But of course, this book is more than just about sex…

The story is a great addition to the series and has everything I love about it.Authentic characters. Lots of snark. A bit of angst and drama. A more than believable HEA.

Furthermore, the authors were once again able to give me an understanding of how the cyberworld works (silly me did not even know that YouTubers have agents!) and I always get shiny eyes when it comes to the text messages between the characters. Their banter was friggin hilarious and ohhh, did I love Zane’s humor…

“Most people watch multiple YouTubers. It’s not like Hunger Games where you grab whatever you can get and run for the forest-“

… and his smart mouth…

“Beau is about as appealing as a colonoscopy after Thanksgiving dinner.”

This book proved once again why ‘enemies to lovers’ is one of my favorite tropes and leave it to the authors to pull it off in typical Megtino fashion. Now it is this time of year again where I have to wait for the next book in this series, but I have a suspicion…who will be the next couple…

…Or maybe I should call it hope?… I can not wait to see if I am right… 😀

My FallenCon agenda is simple: sit on a couple of panels and let people meet the real me. Jesse Garvy—mod of a famous Twitch channel and, if I ever come out of my shell, future vlogger. I definitely didn’t plan to sleep with a moody tattooed fan-artist, but he’s gorgeous and can’t keep his hands off me. There’s a first time for everything, and my first time with a guy turns out to be the hottest experience of my life.

But the next day, I find out my moody fan-artist is Ian Larsen AKA Cherry—someone I’ve known online for years. And he’d known exactly who I was while shoving me up against that wall. Before I figure out whether to be pissed or flattered, the con ends.

Now we’re back online, and he’s acting like nothing happened. But despite the distance between us, and the way he clings to the safety of his online persona, we made a real connection that night. I don’t plan to let him forget.

“Strong signal” and “Fast Connection” were both highly recommend books from my friends.

We talked a lot about Kai or Costigan. Almost everyone I virtually know loved them, their partners, their stories. But I haven’t been warned for this one. No one has told me the emotional load this book has. I wasn’t prevented for what Hard Wired has meant to me.

Garvy and Cherrycakes have worked together as mods for Kai’s Twitch channel for two years. But when they finally meet in person, they do it as Jesse and Ian or, at least, as Jesse and a goth, sexy emo artist, known as Cerise. And here, with a base of lies and fears, their story begins. Here, the emotional journey with these two starts.

Ian has suffered a lot.

 :

His life has been shit, and the fact that he’s been through hell and back shows in his “multiple” personalities. He has built a barrier, a solid wall isolating him from the real world and creating some alter egos, inner personas to interact with people (mostly virtually). Personas that make him feel stronger, empowered. Identities that cover the part of himself that he doesn’t want to show.

“My soul was hateful, so I´d erected walls around my heart and shoved claws under my nails after the first time I´ve been bullied”

Jesse, on the other side, is sweet,  naive and a lovely character.

 :

He is shy but at the same time blatantly honest and I loved that in him. He is a good guy and he acts like one. Jesse Garvy is awesome. Our pretty surfer boy.

“This Kiss alone was fucking heaven. It wasn´t a percusor, it wasn´t even foreplay, it was the main goddamn event all on its own”

But he is also blocked, ridiculously selfless, sacrificing his life and going through the motions in a role he doesn’t want to live… and Beau has a great quote here. A quote that could be perfectly out of “Good Will Hunting”:

“I hoping one day you say fuck it, pack your bags, drive your car to LA and crash on my couch”

There is no doubt that  Ian and Jesse´s relationship is hard. Going backward, for every straight step the take.Ian is complicated and even if Jesse struggles to understand him and be there for him, it’s a difficult thing to do. He is completely inexperienced and he has shitty parents but they are much better than Ian’s experiences so probably he didn’t get it the way he should.
 .
There was a moment in the book where you could think Ian is overreacting or behaving like a spoiled brat or something like that. Even the relationship between our main characters could seem childish. But my point of view is completely the opposite. Ian can’t cope with reality. He is disgusted with himself, he thinks he doesn’t deserve good things, he doesn’t trust in people, and the only way to cope is to create some alter egos to cope for him.
.
Well, I think it is pretty awesome to find a mechanism to face reality more…easily? But I think is better to find a mechanism that effectively works. You like it or not.
.
“I can´t pretend to be super fucking normal all the time, Jesse. I am anxious and scared, and sometimes, I´m so vulnerable it makes me sick. And I don´t know how to fix that about myself, or fix the way I want to hide myself completely when those parts of my brain take over”
 .
It is true that Ian/Cerise drama was a bit exhausting the last ten percent of the book but I loved him anyway…This book was a sure thing, so I didn’t bother in reading the blurb. I started blind on reviews too, and you could say (in this metaphorical blindness thing) that I, also, blindly…
.
Loved everything in this book. Every minute. Every page.

I’ve never thought about myself as an angst junkie because I am not. I escape drama as much as I can. Really. Not my thing. But with this book, I just find out this is my kind of angst: not too much, just a sad edge, a very constant give-and-take, a permanently present tussle between two characters I was loving very, very much.
 .
And probably the love I professed for both MCs is the reason I enjoyed this sad story. Because this is sad and a bit depressing too, but it is also sweet, and addictive and hot. This is probably the less steamy in the series (so far) but also the deeper, or at least, this is how I see it. Ian is so fucked-up that he makes this book darker than the others and at the same time, sweeter in the end and the HEA, because the attainment is bigger. Much bigger.
 .
Summarizing, this is a love story between two completely different men. It is the perfect match between light and dark where light is not so bright and dark it isn’t that black.
.
They converged in a perfect shiny gray… And, yes, I’m sure this awesome color exists 😉

Ginger is Daniel’s best friend from In the Middle of Somewhere and this book, kind of, runs parallel with that one. However, this is a standalone and the first book in a new series by Roan Parrish that will also include MM stories.

Ginger Holtzman is a tough independent woman.

She’s had to work hard to get where she is and she’s not about to relinquish her independence any time soon. The owner of a Tattoo shop and currently working on an upcoming art show,s he knows how hard it is for a woman in this industry.

Christopher Lucen is the owner of a coffee shop in the same area.

One of the good guys, He’s patient, caring, steady, and is always there for people…oh, and he’s just a bit hot!

Christopher is instantly smitten with Ginger…but is she ready to let someone into her life permanently? She’s very open about her sexuality…she’s bi sexual but has never really had any kind of long-term relationship before.

“What if, with Christopher, I could burn the world down when I needed to, and he could extinguish a spot for us in the center of it, carve out a safe place for us while the fire raged outside.”

What I loved about this book…Christopher (happy sigh )…I want one of my own.If ever there was a description of a perfect man, this is him, I absolutely loved him and he’s a huge factor in this book working for me.All he wants is to be loved…

“Christopher wants to be loved(…)And he wants to be needed. It’s what he’s always wanted(…)”

-A slow build up.Both characters are in their thirties and there’s no insta lust and falling into bed.The sex scenes are perfectly placed in the story.

-A secondary character….Faron.Hello, if ever I was intrigued by someone it’s most definitely him.

The story is told, primarily, from  Ginger’s pov but we do get an insight into Christopher’s thoughts by way of emails to his brother, Jude.

On that note, Jude is gay and I’m so excited to get his story and I’ve got high hopes for him and a certain character.

A bit of drama and angst towards the end and I definitely got annoyed with Ginger, but overall I really enjoyed this.

A recommended read!imageedit_5_3277993928
