No Regrets by Nicky James

*****5 Stars*****

A truly moving love story

There is a note to the reader at the start of this book, from the Author.I’m only going to quote her final words and hopefully, that will be enough to convince anyone to read this amazing book.

No one will die in this book. You will not journey with Landon to his end.Instead, you will walk beside him and watch him live.

I knew reading this would be painful for me as someone very close to me had the exact same illness Landon has.I knew all those memories would come flooding back and they did but I wouldn’t have missed reading this for anything.

Landon is 26 and has a terminal illness.

He’s working his way through his bucket list and while he’s in China he meets Abel. Abel is like a breath of fresh air….he’s pushy but so endearing. Landon is happy in his own company, he’s resigned to the fact he can’t let anyone get close to him.

But Abel has other ideas…

After their initial encounter they bump into each other again and no matter how hard he tries Landon can’t seem to deter Abel. One of the things on his bucket list is to have sex with a stranger so Landon thinks why not?

It was only supposed to be a one night stand…

Landon and Abel are two of the most engaging characters I’ve read about and together they are perfect.
I had a lump in my throat more than once reading this.

I felt…
Every emotion.
Every struggle.
Every happy moment.
Every sad moment.

The message is a strong one and it’s so beautifully written.

Life is for living!

Take every moment, and if you’re lucky enough to find that special person to share it with-grasp it with both hands and don’t let go.

“I love you, Abel, as much as you’ve made this harder on me, you’ve made my life a million times brighter. No regrets, okay?”

This book ended with hope for me.
Hope, that these two amazing men get to share their lives'(however short) together.

Landon and Abels’ story is just beautiful.

Highly recommended!

~Review~Leo Loves Aries by Anyta Sunday~

Leo Loves Aries (Signs of Love #1) by Anyta Sunday

*****4.5 Stars*****

This is just adorable!

I’ve had it on my Kindle for a while but it wasn’t until I saw a friend’s status update that I decided to read it and once I started it, I couldn’t put it down.
Theo….what can I say, I just loved that boy….completely clueless in the most endearing way.

Theo and his twin sister, Leone, are star signs, Leo.

They’ve both been hurt in love and set about trying to get each other dates for the upcoming wedding of both their ex’s.Their mother is into horoscopes in a big way and is constantly giving them predictions about the future.

Jamie’s star sign is Aries. He’s an ex-tutor of Theo.

Theo and Leone are looking for a roommate, Jamie is looking for a new place so it’s the perfect arrangement right?

This book captivated me….

I loved

  • The banter between Theo and Jamie was just brilliant.

I loved

  • Their chemistry and interactions….
Jamie being so awkward ice skating,
    Their trips for food shopping,
Jamie for taking care of Theo, without him even realizing it,
The, not so subtle, innuendos that Jamie kept throwing about.
  • Leone for being a strong, independent women.

Theo: Why do I hear the emphasis on ‘you’? Am I that hard to be around?

Jamie: You said it.

Theo starts off seeing Jamie as a really good friend….over time, a best friend. He misses him when he’s not around but he straight so gets confused when he starts to feel an attraction to him and jealous of other people getting close to him.

The jealousy….I LOVED it.

Jamie getting jealous over Theo dating.
Theo getting jealous over Jamie’s best friend.

Yes, it’s a slow burn and not overly graphic as regards sex scenes but it totally worked for me….
I’m still swooning.

Highly Recommended!

~Release Day Review~ Step by Step by K.C. Wells~

Title: Step By Step
Author: K.C. Wells
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Release Date: March 13, 2017
Genre(s): M/M, Contemporary Romance

Jamie’s life is one big financial mess, and it really isn’t his fault. However, the last thing he expected to find in the library was a Good Samaritan. He might have been suspicious of Guy’s motives at first, but it soon becomes apparent that his savior is a good man who has been lucky in life and is looking to pay it forward. Guy being gay is not a problem. Jamie’s not interested… or so he thinks.

Guy is happy to help Jamie, and the two men get along fine. But when Jamie’s curiosity leads him from one thing to another, Guy finds himself looking at the younger man with new eyes. What started out as a hand up is now something completely different….

Step by Step by K.C. Wells

****4 Stars****

I’m not normally a fan of an age difference but this really worked for me.

Jamie is nearly 21 and struggling to put himself through college.

The college fund his parents had for him has been used for his parents long and messy divorce. He’s just lost one of the three jobs he had and is behind with his rent when a kind of Knight in Shining Armour steps in.

Guy is 38 and has a very comfortable life.

He offers Jamie a room in his home, wants to help with bills and tuition and genuinely wants Jamie to get the best out of life.
You might be forgiven for thinking this was just a bit unbelievable but somehow it wasn’t and I think it’s because Guy is a good man…I mean a really good man. There was no creepy ulterior motive about Guy’s proposal. He had been in a similar situation when he was young and someone stepped up to help him and he wants to repay the favor.

Guy is upfront about his sexuality. He’s gay but has two grown up children around Jamie’s age from a relationship when he was young.Jamie is straight and hasn’t had much time or inclination for sex.

There is no insta lust here.

They become friends and develop a mutual respect for each other. But gradually things change and their relationship develops at just the right pace.I don’t think this book it about being labeled as gay, straight or bi…’s a story of two men who connect emotionally and then physically.I enjoyed their friendship just as much as their sexual relationship…

…which was smoking hot!!

Some brilliant supporting characters, especially Ryan and Cole…….I so want their stories. The Epilogue giving teasers about Cole was very intriguing. I’m hoping his story is next if there is going to be one??

Talking of the Epilogue….I’m not normally bothered either way about one but this was just perfect.
A recommended read, even if you’re not a fan of an age difference I think this one might convert you.

Since putting his life on hold ten years ago, Oliver Clayton doesn’t know who he is anymore. To his clients at the hair salon, he’s the sassy and confident stylist. To the crowds who come to watch his drag act at the club, he’s the fierce and fabulous Miss Tique. He’s popular. Talented. Out, proud, and self-assured.

He’s also a good actor.

Sebastian Day is content with life’s easy, if not a little monotonous, routine. After several failed relationships, he likes the simplicity of being alone in his truck at his job as a heavy goods driver, spending the weekends with his teenage son, and putting the world to rights with his cat, Marv. He’s not lonely. He isn’t hiding.

At least…he doesn’t think he is until he meets the mesmerizing stranger with the red hair and purple lips.

Can Oliver and Sebastian help each other embrace who they are? Or will a cruel twist of fate end their journey before it’s even begun?

(M/M Romance. Not recommended for readers under 18 years of age due to language and sexual content.)

*****5 Stars*****imageedit_104_7293237175

Personally the sign of a good book, for me, is if I’m still thinking about it hours after I’ve finished it.

I absolutely loved this.I loved the happiness, the sadness, the hopes and struggles these amazing characters went through.

I’ve read Broken by this Author so I thought it wouldn’t be all sunshine and roses and it wasn’t but what it is, is a truly emotional love story.

Oliver has put his life on hold for 10 years….

…Concentrating on bringing up his younger half brother after their mother died.He struggles emotionally and financially, all he wants is to be a good parent to Ty.He works as a hair stylist by day and a drag act at night as the wonderfully flamboyant Miss Tique. He loves his makeup and heels and puts on a good act to the outside world.

Seb is a truck driver, one of the good guys.

He shares custody of his 15-year son with his ex who he has a fantastic relationship with.In fact, he’s got a lot of love and support from all his family. But things haven’t been easy for him. He’s bi and this is the first book I’ve read where I came to fully understand that being bi isn’t easy. The Author perfectly portrayed the struggles he went through as he and others came to terms with his sexuality.

Oliver and Seb story is beautiful.

It’s far from perfect but they face what life throws at them together.

” Are you flirting with me?”
” Is it working?”
” Maybe “

I’m not going into the story in any detail.I would advise going into this one relatively blind to get the most out of their story…trust me.
Some fascinating secondary characters who all played their part here.

You’ll need the tissues here but don’t worry, although there are sad tears there are truly happy tears as well.
A huge plus for me is that it’s set in the North of England (near me ) and I love that the Author kept it British from the banter to local shop names and the food….who doesn’t like beans on toast?…..that really is a British thing!

This is a beautiful story that I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend.

~Review~ True Colors by Anyta Sunday~

True Colors (True Love #2) by Anyta Sunday

*****4.5 Stars*****

“You remember what my colors mean. I remember everything you tell me, Marco.”

True Colors is a lovely story of friendships, family, forgiveness, and love.

Marco is scared both physically and emotionally. He sees people and the world through colors, some are beautiful, some are not.

Marco and Oskar were best friends growing up together as neighbors. They could see each other’s bedrooms from across the street. They had a special bond until one day Oskar caused Marco pain and humiliation with a terrible betrayal.

When Oskar returns Marco can’t find it in himself to forgive him. However, they are forced to face each other as they are both taking part in a play Marco’s father is producing. The play has a special meaning as it was written by Marco’s late mother. There are two endings, one tragic, one happy….but which one will Marco choose?

Marco keeps his body hidden, terrified of exposing his scars. He’s never been intimate with anyone, keeping his sexuality a secret.

Starting their lives as friends, then becoming enemies this is a slow burn and rightly so.We only get Marco’s pov but you can still feel the deep feelings Oskar has for him as they both try and get their friendship back on track.

This is beautifully written and has a kind of poignancy about it as they both admit to what they feel about each other. The use of the color theme was unique and worked so well.

“Reds, for courage, strength, deterimation.
Purples for pride,dignity,independence,magic.
Greens for growth, hope, safety.
Sunglow Yellow…..”

“What colors am I supposed to be?”
“All of them, Marco….you’re all of them.”

A copy of True Colors was given to me by Anyta Sunday for an honest review.

~Review~Unbroken by Larry Benjamin

Unbroken by Larry Benjamin

*****5 Stars*****

This is one of the best books I’ve read.Yes, it’s a bold statement but it’s that good.

It’s Lincoln’s story and it’s just beautiful. Starting in 1964 and finishing in 2004, it’s the story of a young boy who fought with everything he had to live his life, the way he wanted to.I’m really struggling to put into words how much this book moved me so,f or now, I’m just posting quotes and hopefully you might get it.

You cant marry another boy, they told me. Why not? I asked, confused. You said I could do anything. You said I could grow up to be President. You cant marry another boy! But you said Id grow up, and fall in love, and get married. You cant fall in love with another boy! They began to watch me closely.”
Whats wrong? Willow finally asked me. Why cant boys kiss other boys? I blurted, hoping for an answer I could understand. Willow knew everythingmore than most grownups even. I waited anxiously for her answer. After thinking for a long time, she said, I dont know.
I was twelve, and in seventh grade. He was the new kid. His name was Jose Calderon. He walked into fourthperiod music, smiled, and changed everything. Until that moment, I had believed their lies, had ignored my own truth. I would change they told me, just wait and see.

Firstly, I honestly don’t know how this book hasn’t received more reviews.

I’m not joking when I say fourth-period I give it double the number of stars I would.I only came across it after reading Jan’s review( link to her review below) and to say it blew me away is an understatement.

It’s Lincoln’s story from Kindergarten to adulthood.Don’t go into it thinking it’s just YA because it’s so much more than that. It’s one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve read.Lincoln is pretty, really pretty -people notice, re marking that he looks like a girl. His parents notice he’s different-of course they do, of ter all he came home from Kindergarten one day announcing he was going to marry his friend Orlando.

They told him he would change,
They told him he would grow up and marry a girl,
They told him he would have a ‘normal’ life.

And in doing so, they silenced him…..until the day that a boy called Jose walked into his 12th-grade class and Lincoln knew what he wanted.

They were wrong, I decided; I would marry him. We would adopt children and a dog. We would buy a farmhouse in Connecticut, just like Lucy Ricardos house in Westport, and wed raise chickens. You cant fall in love with another boy, theyd told me. But I had! How could I not fall in love with the wonder of him? This time I was smart enough to tell no one.

This story touched me in so many ways because it felt real.

Told only from Lincoln’s pov, the reader can fully appreciate what it must have been like growing up gay in the 60’s and 70’s and in the 80’s / 90’s when Aids hit the headlines. There is no unnecessary drama here, it’s the story of two men and what they overcame and stood up for.
I’m finishing with my favorite quote because it’s beautiful and hopefully conveys how special this story is.

Dont you know there is no me without you? I promised you once I would never leave you, not because I felt I couldnt, but because I never want to be without you. He spoke quietly, his voice a low rumble. I dont pray often, but when I do, I pray that I die five minutes after you so Ill always be here to look after you but not have to live without you.-Jose to Lincoln.

Check out ⇒ Jan’s Review ⇐….because she’s said it perfectly.

Cannot recommend highly enough!

Domenico could ask for anything, and Seth would give it to him.

I read the first book in this series about 18 months ago and I was immediately hooked.
These books are dark, gritty and violent but ultimately it’s a story of two men that are just meant to be together…..

I can’t put into words how much I love Dom and Seth.
These Authors have created two men with such and commitment to each other.

This book is extremely fast paced and gripping.I couldn’t read it fast enough.

Dom is still searching for the elusive Mr. Tropico and to get closer to him he must get close to his associates. They need to infiltrate the home of Toro, a Cartel Boss. However, things are never straightforward as they have to go undercover and hide their relationship. With bugs and hidden cameras everywhere the tension rises as the two men can’t be together.

Seth has to mold himself into a completely different man to the one that Dom loves.

I couldn’t have loved Seth more here.Although he comes from a Mafia background he doesn’t embrace the lifestyle at all.He struggles with the kind of man he thinks Dom wants him to be, to the man he actually is.I started off loving Dom(and I still do ) but Seth has completely stolen my heart here.

The supporting characters play an important role here.

I ( like probably everyone else ) don’t like Dana but I’ve got a new found respect for here, when it matters she totally steps ups and even though MF isn’t my thing I would definitely read her story. And there’s Mark……I’ve loved him from the very first moment he was introduced and wouldn’t it be great to have a book about him?….And finally let’s talk about Nero…the villain, or is he? I know it might be wrong but I found him so intriguing and really quite sexy…..

My favorite MM series to date.Highly Recommend.

~Release Day Review~Paint the Stars by Christina Lee & Nyrae Dawn

Title: Paint the Stars
Author: Christina Lee & Nyrae Dawn
Series: Free Fall, Book #3
Publisher: Christina Lee and Nyrae Dawn
Cover Artist: Natasha Snow
Genre(s): M/M, Contemporary Romance

Release Date: 20 February 2017

Ezra Greene has made a pretty decent life for himself. He has a nice apartment and spends his days doing the one thing he’s always loved—creating art. Despite being somewhat of a grumpy recluse, he’s even made a few loyal friends. When he takes a side job painting a mural at a local holistic center, he can’t help being curious about a certain friendly and self-assured yoga instructor, even if he doesn’t buy into any of that Zen crap. His holier-than-thou family already tried fitting him inside a box, and he swore he’d never be molded into anybody’s belief system again.

For Daevonte Randall, adulthood has worked out pretty well. He’s close to his parents and lives with an awesome roommate. He’s content with weekend hookups, teaching yoga, and taking college courses. What he doesn’t expect is to be so intrigued by the brooding and reserved painter he’s been tasked to stay after hours with at the center. Something fascinates him about Ezra, even after Daevonte’s attempts at flirting gets him friend-zoned on the spot.

As the weeks pass, Ezra and Dae get to know each other, and soon their friendship catches fire. But Ezra’s been burned pretty badly before so trust and intimacy has to be earned. Daevonte feels up to the task, but it proves difficult as Ezra continues to keep his emotions in check. Dae’s only willing to wait so long, and when they’re dealt a surprising blow, Ezra needs to decide if love is worth the risk, that is…if it’s not too late.″

Paint the Stars (Free Fall #3)

by Christina Lee & Nyrae Dawn

****4 Stars****

I haven’t read the previous books in this series but that definitely didn’t spoil my enjoyment of this so I would say it can be standalone.

Ezra is an Artist, currently working on a mural at the Mind Body Holistic and Wellness Centre in Santa Monica. This is where he meets Dae who does Yoga classes at the center.

These two couldn’t be more different in terms of their personalities and their family background.

Ezra grew up in a highly religious Catholic family. His parents have never really fully accepted him being gay and certainly don’t want the church, they regularly attend, to know about his sexuality. He felt suffocated growing up and once he left for college he hardly ever returns home.

Dae’s family, in comparison, are like a breath of fresh air.His parents married when they found out, at a young age, his mother was pregnant with Dae and have a loving relationship. They have always been fully supportive of him and I absolutely loved the relationship he had with them.

Dae is a massive flirt, he’s never really been interested in anything serious before but he finds himself drawn to the quiet, broody Artist. He makes it more than obvious he’s interested in Ezra.
Ezra is quite introverted and values his privacy but when Dae’s flirting doesn’t let up he’s forced to tell Dae that he’s demisexual. He’s never instantly attracted to anyone, he needs a close bond with someone before he can start to feel anything.

This is a slow burn and it’s a beautiful love story of two men finding what they want in each other.Dae recognizes that Ezra needs time to get to know him and it was quite special seeing Ezra finally letting someone get close to him.

Recommended Read!

Just Adorable.

I swear no one writes a sweet/sexy MM romance quite like N.R. Walker.

I was practically swooning throughout this book.

Lawson Gale is a butterfly expert, it’s his passion.Nerdy, sassy and definitely unique he’s come to Tasmania at the request of an old professor to try and find an elusive butterfly which the professor has been searching for, for decades.

Jack Brighton is a local Parks and Wildlife officer. He’s lived in Scottsdale for years, a small, quiet sleepy town where everyone is on first name terms. He’s content with his life, he loves his job and has his faithful dog Rosemary for a company.

But his world is about to be rocked in the most delicious way when he meets Lawson.

With his local knowledge of the area, Jack offers to help Lawson track down the mysterious Eltham Copper butterfly.

I can’t stress enough how adorable these two men are together.

They give each other flowers on dates.

They have a picnic in the garden with sandwiches cut into triangles, they change into their PJ’s to have dinner!! Don’t worry, though there are some sexy times and Lawson has a bit of a dirty mouth on him when he gets going.

This book is a little gem and I would definitely … Highly Recommend it.

~Review~ Moment Of Fate by Karen Stivali~

Moment Of Fate (Moments In Time #5)

by Karen Stivali

*****5 Stars*****

Absolutely loved this!

I loved everything about this book. The writing, the characters, the sex, the feelings.I really didn’t want it to end.I’ve read a few really good books in the last few weeks and this is way up there with them….it may even be top of the pile!I don’t know how she’s done it but Karen Stivali has created passion, chemistry, and feelings that just felt so real.

Bryan is a photography student in his final year, juggling his schoolwork and also playing in a band. For reasons that are explained, he’s given up sex for a year but his celibacy is about to be severely tested when he meets Oliver.

Oliver was engaged to his high school best friend. A convenient arrangement for both of them until she finds someone she doesn’t just love but has fallen in love with.(Don’t worry, no cheating, and Oliver is more than happy that she has found true love ).
Oliver re-evaluates his life, he comes out to his family, leaves his hometown and moves to New York, determined to embrace his sexuality.

The intensity between them is evident from the start but it’s so much more than insta lust, believe me.They become friends first with Bryan introducing Oliver to the NY gay scene.Bryan has problems of his own, though and it’s not just that he’s been hurt in love before. The last thing he’s really looking for is any kind of relationship.

“You called me your guardian angel and told me you thought fate had brought me into your life.”

I can’t explain how perfect these men are together and it’s not just sexually.Even when they are just hanging out together doing everyday things the connection between them feels so strong.

The sex scenes …

This is hot, I mean really hot, with some of the best sex scenes I’ve read. I really can’t explain but I think it’s down to the writing.Even when they’re filthy dirty it’s beautiful, you can feel the passion and intensity coming off the pages.

Highly recommended… it, I’m sure you’ll not be disappointed!!
