I am not a big fan of short stories, to be honest, but if there is one author, I would gladly make an exception for, it’s Mary!!

I don’t care how long it is, I will read whatever she writes down. 😉

I absolutely loved every single book in this series, which is quite the feat, since there are 10 already!! As far as I am concerned, I could do with 10 more. 😛

I have gotten to know all the characters in this series so well…they feel like family to me now! A family, that I have come to love a whole lot!

Now Sloane and Dex…they will always have a spot in on my “All Time Favorite Couples” list. They earned it fair and square…They have been through so much together, and they are still standing strong…

And we have finally gotten to the point of their wedding!

Bakersfield

open q Ah, Bakersfield, California. If you’re a fan, I’m about to offend you. But it’s one of the few places on Earth I dislike.

Maybe Bakersfield has its charms. I dunno. But it’s hot as hell most of the summer, the air quality sucks, and the economy is terrible. It’s not an attractive place, and unless you have a thing for oil derricks and farms, anything interesting is far away. Someone once attempted to recruit me for a job there by telling me it’s an hour from Las Angeles, which is one of the more creative stretches of truth in recruiting history.

And I’ve personally had bad luck in Bakersfield. Once, when my kids were little, our car blew a tire and we ended up spending half a day stranded at the Bakersfield Sears. Another time I managed to spill a venti iced coffee all over myself before even leaving the Starbucks parking lot. Nothing like driving 200 miles covered in coffee. Last spring I was in Bakersfield for a meeting when my husband had a heart attack (he’s fine now—no thanks to Bakersfield). Last month I spent a really boring hour at the Bakersfield Amtrak station, waiting to get home after already having been delayed two hours.

As I said, I don’t like Bakersfield.

But. Despite—or maybe because of—that dislike, Bakersfield has proven a boon to my imagination. If you’ve read Rattlesnake, you know that Jimmy passes through there. During that recent Amtrak trip, I got a Bakersfield plot bunny I’m dying to write. And in my newest book, Ante Up, an important scene takes place there. I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll just say that in my world, Bakersfield is literally a gateway to Hell.

Is there someplace you really detest? C’mon. Share in the comments. And don’t forget to enter the Rafflecopter below! close q

open q I really want to take this post to say thank you to someone very special. Her name is Becky and she is my primary Beta Reader!  I have others, but she’s the first and my go to person.  Becky has personal experience with someone who is deaf and her expertise and insight were invaluable for this book.  Not only did she help me with writing the deaf character, Scott, she also helped me characterize Brent and how he would react and need to take special care and patience in his interactions with Scott. Writing a character who is deaf or becomes deaf is much more difficult and involved than removing all hearing references.  It involved things like developing new methods of communication and interaction for my characters.   This story was a challenge for me as well as a complete and total labor of love, which Becky helped bring to reality.  So thank you once again!!! close q

This is the the second (third?) book of the Destiny Fuck Yeah! trilogy…and I have been dying to get my hands on it.

I have also been pretty nervous, about the hints TJ kept dropping…He told us there were going to be some big changes in this book…He told us we would get to know Justin a bit better, and he warned us about the emotions we would be feeling while reading this one.

He wasn’t wrong….damn my emotions and Wookie Cry Face!!

It’s no secret, that I am a huge fan of all things “Mary”. Her books are like comfort food to me…I re-read them all the time.

I fell in love with Conrad, when I read “Mine” He was actually my favorite part of the book, and he was just a side-character. So imagine how happy I was, when I found out he was getting his own story.

Now before I say anything more…I would advise everyone to read book 1, “A Day Makes” first, and to also read “Mine”. A lot of characters from this book, make an appearance and I think you might get a bit lost of you don’t.

I have read and loved every single book in THIRDS Series …

And that includes all the novellas…Now, this may be another shorty, but just like the others, that doesn’t make it any less awesome. I for one laughed my ass off. 😛

Sloane and Dex are among my top favorite MM couples and think they always will be. 😉 They have come a long way since book 1 and things haven’t always been easy for them. They did it though and now that they are about to tie the knot…

It’s bachelor party time!!! 😀

Can college roommates go from friends to lovers?
Kyle: I’m confident that with hard work, my position as point guard can carry me from rural Indiana to the NBA. I also know I’m attracted to guys, but admitting it might disappoint my father, who is all I have in this world. I have big dreams, so I’ll stay in the closet. As long as my life remains scandal-free, I have a shot.
Micah: My large family can’t spare the money to help with my education, but that won’t stop me from studying medicine. I needed to get out of the house I was sharing with my ex before I went insane. Luckily, I heard about a guy looking for a roommate. Living with a straight jock won’t be easy, but it’s a chance I’m willing to take.

So I was very excited when I finally got my hands on it.This was my first book by this author so I really had no expectations going in…except for that awesome blurb that is.Unfortunately…I wasn’t blown away…

When Ward Johannsen’s little girl Ava shifted into a werewolf, she was taken into custody by the feds and shipped off to the nearest pack, all ties between father and daughter severed. Ward burned every bridge he had discovering her location, and then almost froze to death in the Colorado mountains tracking her new pack down. And that’s just the beginning of his struggle.
Henry Dormer is an alpha werewolf and an elite black ops soldier who failed his last mission. He returns home, hoping for some time to recuperate and help settle the pack’s newest member, a little pup named Ava who can’t shift back to her human form. Instead he meets Ward, who refuses to leave his daughter without a fight. The two men are as different as night and day, but their respect for each other strikes a spark of mutual interest that quickly grows into a flame. So, Where’s All The Sex?

My gosh, I almost feel guilty having a blog post on a site called Dirty Books Obsession that contains all of one complete sex scene in it. There are more intimate scenes, there are some close calls, but there’s only one fully-realized sex scene. Yeah. I know. What the hell?

I like to write sex. I really like to read it, and given my personal preferences, shouldn’t I be getting more of that action into my own books? The answer is an absolute, unequivocal maybe. It just depends on the book, for me. Some authors are truly reliable when it comes to what you’re getting with their stories—all sweet, or all sex, all the time. I’m…not.

For me, it really all depends on the characters and their personal situations. No, hear me out, this isn’t a bunch of BS—character is everything for me when it comes to sex. Character and circumstance. If the hottest guy in the world is about to get his head chopped off, and a page later he’s passionately getting it on with his would-be executioner? You better explain that with some serious magic or a huge knock to the head, because I’m not going to buy it otherwise and will be reluctant to even if you do give me a super explanation. Worse, I’m not going to want to read it, because if it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, my mind tends to rebel.

I’ve written an incubus who had to have sex all the time in order to stay healthy. Fun was had by all. I’ve written a shy virgin who only had time to lose said virginity in one on-the-page sex scene before I did awful things to him. Fair enough. In Off The Beaten Path, there are neither incubi or virgins, but there is a worried father desperate to save his little girl and an alpha werewolf with PTSD who has a lot more going on inside than his libido. Frankly, I’m happy I got them off together period, what with all the extra crap I threw their way.

I hope you find the heat level of Off The Beaten Path works for the story. I feel like it does, and if in a revisit someday I have them happy and healthy and fucking like bunnies? Well, more power to them and their well-rounded future selves. For now, there are minefields to navigate. Happy trails.

Whoever said blood was thicker than water never stood in a pool of it.
Retiring from stealing priceless treasures seemed like a surefire way for Rook Stevens to stay on the right side of the law. The only cop in his life should have been his probably-boyfriend, Los Angeles Detective Dante Montoya, but that’s not how life—his life—is turning out. Instead, Rook ends up not only standing in a puddle of his cousin Harold’s blood but also being accused of Harold’s murder…and sleeping with Harold’s wife.
For Dante, loving the former thief means his once-normal life is now a sea of chaos, especially since Rook seems incapable of staying out of trouble—or keeping trouble from following him home. When Rook is tagged as a murder suspect by a narrow-focused West L.A. detective, Dante steps in to pull his lover out of the quagmire Rook’s landed in.
When the complicated investigation twists around on them, the dead begin to stack up, forcing the lovers to work together. Time isn’t on their side, and if they don’t find the killer before another murder, Dante will be visiting Rook in his prison cell—or at his grave.

“Fuck, I missed this,” Rook whispered, stroking the edge of the lock. “Why the hell did I give this up?”

Former cat burglar Rook Stevens gives into the thrill of one last caper. Okay, maybe he was a bit driven by a teeny-weeny desire for revenge. Maybe he felt the need to prove himself that he is still one of the best. And yeah, maybe he should have known better…
