 ~Blurb~

Through Ryan’s trials, there are three different perspectives: a best friend watching from the outside, a lover desperate to get in, and his own mind.
His struggles were theirs. He just didn’t know it.
A tragic accident changed Dr. Ryan Jacobs’ life and freed him from a past he thought he’d never escape, but with that freedom came the realization: he could escape the man, but would be bound to the torturous battle within his mind. Fighting for control of his thoughts, he lived recklessly in a life of addiction and the next good time. Wearing a mask of deception, and hiding it beautifully behind his playboy ways, he fooled himself into thinking this was the real him, but he couldn’t fool everyone.
Dr. Michael Jonas considered Ryan more than just a friend, he was his family. With the support of his wife, Michael held Ryan’s hand, listened to him cry, and helped him through the hardest events of his life. He could see through the fake smiles and playboy attitude, seeing his best friend for the man he really was. After Michael’s wife had given birth to their first child, Michael vowed never to let pain affect his family again, Ryan included. But Michael carried his own burdens and watching Ryan struggle was harder than he thought. It tore him apart, silently, until there was only one choice. Save his best friend before it was too late.
As a high-powered attorney, Jayson Alexander thrived on easy thrills both in his professional and personal life, but when his heart broke the rules, he had no choice but to break it and run from the pain. Obsessive about controlling his own life, he set goals and rules and tried to ensure his own happiness, but life had a different plan. So he sought out answers and took on a case that would eventually change everything. He was drawn to Ryan from the moment he laid eyes on him. With a magnetic connection he couldn’t deny, he found Ryan irresistible, but he found out quickly the connection was more than physical. Jayson wanted Ryan, but how could he fight the demons Ryan’s mind was creating and stop them from pushing him away?
Ryan built a force field around his heart, vowing after that tragic day, no man would be allowed close enough to ever hurt him again, but with the support of his best friend and the man he loved, could Ryan beat The Struggle Within once and for all?

Due to strong sexual content and language, The Struggle Within is intended for mature readers 18 years of age or over.
Trigger warning: The Struggle Within may contain a subject matter that is sensitive to some readers as it deals with domestic abuse, self-harm, and addictive behavior. The author asks that the reader please take these warnings seriously and requests discretion be advised.

The Struggle Within by Tyler May

Where to start with this review?

Story wise, it’s going to be vague-I don’t really want to give anything away.I was definitely apprehensive about reading this but I’m all for diversity in books and I’m finding more and more that books that take me out of my comfort zone, actually work for me.

This book won’t be for everyone but I would say…give it a chance…

It deals with mental, physical, and emotional abuse, but it’s also a story of friendship, love, and hopehope, that anyone who has suffered from any form of abuse can eventually find happiness.

Before and after the story there are personal, real-life stories of men who have suffered from abuse and I found their stories incredibly moving.

“I played roulette with my body, keeping my mind pacified and my heart safe.”

While it’s Ryan who was abused here, it’s not just his story. It’s about three men and their connections to each other.

Michael is Ryan’s friend but he’s so much more than that. He’s an ever present, positive force in Ryan’s life.In my view, he plays a massive part in the man Ryan ends up to be.

Jayson, an attorney, plays an integral part in the story…he never gives up on Ryan.

I’ve got two close friends who suffered from mental and physical abuse…not to the extent Ryan did, and thankfully they walked away and found happiness. My point in mentioning this is that I thought the Author has perfectly portrayed what victims of abuse go through.

The feelings of no self-worth.
The shame…
Being trapped in a relationship they are unable to walk away from because they feel so defeated.

Ryan’s story is heartbreaking but it felt real.As a reader, you go on a journey with him.The anonymous sex, the use of prescription drugs are all coping mechanisms…

Until he finally finds happiness.

Mob enforcer Ceaton Mercer has killed a lot of people in a lot of different ways – he stashed the last two bodies in a toolshed belonging to a sweetheart marine researcher in an idyllic island community – but he’s really not such a bad guy. Over time he’s found a home of sorts, and he even learns he’s found a place in the hearts of the people he works with…at least enough so that they won’t put a bullet in his head because he’s outlived his usefulness to the boss.

But he never thought he’d find one day could change his life, and he’s about to discover how wrong he is.
Because in a single day, he meets the man who looks to be the one, the love of his life. It’s an improbable idea – a man who deals in death finding love – but it’s like it’s meant to be. That single day gets weirder and troubles pile up, forcing Ceaton to take a hard look at his dreary life and accept that one day can change everything, especially himself. His future might be brighter than he expects – if he can stay alive long enough to find out.

Mary, Mary Mary, how I love thee, let me count the ways…

how-do-i-love-thee-o.gif (320×192)

So we have another winner !!! I loved this book…it’s just as awesome as I expected it to be.

It had all the required ingredients…

  • Did it have a hot guy everyone wanted to be friends with   Teek, Mark, Corrigeren, Keuze, Registreer, Ja, Icon:
  • Did it have some ridiculous over the top scenes Teek, Mark, Corrigeren, Keuze, Registreer, Ja, Icon:
  • Did it have insta-love/lust Teek, Mark, Corrigeren, Keuze, Registreer, Ja, Icon:

…all that and so much more….

This book starts off with the story of Ceaton Mercer, ex-marine, and how he became a mob enforcer. I loved Ceaton from the very start.

What I loved most about this book, was the comradery. Pravi, Marko, and Luka…these boys were all great in their own way…

…but together, they were just awesome!!

e9bd9c3b07878ccc11d059c1cd6020c5.jpg (736×707):

Then the day comes that changes everything…when Ceaton sets his sight on Brin…or maybe it was more the other way around. 😀

19230214.gif (500×281)

“There was a pushpin in my mind map of where I thought I was, but you moved it, you changed it, and now my orbit is different because of you.”

This book is a slow burn…though the insta-love/lust is still there.

It is not heavy on the steam, but since, the second half of this book takes place in one day…that makes sense.

I was also extremely happy with the little surprise we got near the ending ! I love it when authors do that and I have high hopes that this book will turn into a series.

Cinderella reading book with mice and birds.gif (500×375)

The only thing that upsets me a little, was that it was so short.

I need more…I always need more Mary, so of course, I am off to re-read some old favorites (all of them). 😀 😛

Well, this is a little gem. It’s the first book I’ve read by this Author and I was very impressed.

This surprised me in the best way, not least, because there are hardly any on page sex scenes but I didn’t care because the writing is so engaging…that’s not to say it isn’t sexy because it is…

Lionel is deliciously femme, from his pink boy shorts, red heels, and his homemade pom-poms.

Doug(Dog) is gay and plays for a gay softball team.

He’s obviously out to his teammates but not his family, something he isn’t planning on changing anytime soon. But his resolve is about to be tested when he meets the tornado that is Lionel.

After a drunken hook up one night, these two seem to take two steps forward and ten steps back as far as dating goes and although they’re complete opposites they are just so damn cute together.

The humor here is brilliant, I’m sure I had a huge smile on my face reading this.

I absolutely loved Dog’s mother, when she found out he was gay, her research went into overdrive.

“I’ve had a very busy twenty-four hours. And I’ve come a long way. Last night I was on the same shift with Juan Hernandez. He’s a gay, and he explained a lot of things to me. He told me all about bears and otters and wolves and cubs and polar bears, and—oh my God you boys like your wild animals, don’t you?”

So…Dog is in the closet with his family… Lionel is out and proud but has to go back in the closet for work…and pretend he’s straight.

Mixed with the sass and humor there is a message here.
Be true to yourself, don’t hide, don’t pretend…just be yourself.

Highly Recommended!

~Blurb~

Some heroes wear capes. Some prefer sensory sacks.

Emmet Washington has never let the world define him, even though he, his boyfriend, Jeremey, and his friends aren’t considered “real” adults because of their disabilities. When the State of Iowa restructures its mental health system and puts the independent living facility where they live in jeopardy, Emmet refuses to be forced into substandard, privatized corporate care. With the help of Jeremey and their friends, he starts a local grassroots organization and fights every step of the way.

In addition to navigating his boyfriend’s increased depression and anxiety, Emmet has to make his autistic tics acceptable to politicians and donors, and he wonders if they’re raising awareness or putting their disabilities on display. When their campaign attracts the attention of the opposition’s powerful corporate lobbyist, Emmet relies on his skill with calculations and predictions and trusts he can save the day—for himself, his friends, and everyone with disabilities.

He only hopes there isn’t a variable in his formula he’s failed to foresee.

Shelter the Sea (The Roosevelt #2) by Heidi Cullinan

*****4.5 Stars*****

4,5FFF

I was so excited about this follow-up story about Emmet and Jeremey, but I have to admit, I was also a bit worried. Book 1 left me with an amazing feeling when I was finished and I was a bit nervous this book would mess that up for me.

21006597.gif (500×221)

I shouldn’t have worried though because this book left me feeling even happier than book 1 did.

pharrell-happy-shirt.gif (500×187)

Before I continue this review, I would like to point out, that this is not a stand-alone. You should read book 1 first and if you haven’t, you are missing out big time !!

I am not gonna go into the plot too deeply, because, like the previous book, I think this book should be enjoyed without too many spoilers.

This book takes us back to Emmet, Jeremey, and their friends…

…who are now happily living at The Roosevelt.

15889637.gif (420×210)

But life doesn’t always allow us to stay happy…. Sometimes the outside world tries to decide whether or not we are allowed to be/stay happy.

This book is about standing up for your (equal) rights and fighting for what you believe in.

It’s about the challenges, that people with disabilities face every single day. It’s about the fact that it’s ok not to be normal….because normal doesn’t exist and nobody really is.

“I knew I wasn’t wanted. Every day, every aspect of the world, of the culture, made a point to tell me I was different and less than, and so were all my friends.”

It’s about love…friendship and superpowers !!

Autism-is-my-superpower.jpg (500×477):

Emmet, Jeremey, David and Darren blew me away. It wasn’t easy for them, but they fought none the less. I was in awe of their strength and friendship.

“Let us be your sensory pack. We’re your Blues Brothers shield. Tell your octopus it’s safe with us.”

Of course, Emmet is still….and will probably always be….my all time favorite !! He is such an awesome character and brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions. I hope we’ll get many more of him in the next two books. One will be David’s story and one will be Darren’s. I can’t wait !!!

“I’d had it wrong all along. I didn’t have to shelter the sea. I had to find the way to let the sea shelter me.”

Starting over isn’t easy, but Ben is ready to live his life as the man he was always meant to be.

Ben is transgender and back at university after hormone treatment and chest surgery. His new housemates have no idea about his history and Ben would prefer to keep it that way. He’s starting from scratch and his life is finally on track, except in the romance department. The idea of dating guys as a guy is exhilarating but terrifying, because if Ben wants a boyfriend he’ll have to disclose his secret.

Sid is drawn to Ben from the moment they meet. He normally gets what he wants—in the short term at least. Ben’s guarded at first, and Sid’s not used to guys rejecting his advances. He eventually charms his way through Ben’s defences and helps Ben on his journey of sexual awakening.

It doesn’t matter to Sid that Ben is trans. He’s attracted to the whole person, and isn’t worried about what is—or isn’t—in Ben’s pants. They’re good together, and both of them are falling hard and fast, but Ben’s insecurities keep getting in the way. If Sid can convince Ben he’s committed, will Ben finally be able to put his heart on the line?

Although this book is part of the Housemates series, it has new main characters, a satisfying happy ending, and can be read as a standalone.

Starting from Scratch (Housemates #5) by Jay Northcote

*****4.5 Stars*****

4.5hghg

Another great book in this super sexy series but can be read as a standalone.

Ben and Sid were briefly introduced in the previous book.

Ben is transgender and has gone through his transition. He returns back to the shared house in the New Year determined to try and be more outgoing and interact with people more.

Sid is Jude’s ex-hook up from the previous book. He’s just recently broken up with someone so when he gets an invitation from Jude inviting him on a night out with his friends he thinks why not?

Sid and Ben are drawn to each other, not least because of everyone else in part of a couple. They get on well and Sid finds himself getting more and more attracted to Ben, so much so that he doesn’t hold back.

“So, what do you say? Want to try having sober sex with me?”

Poor Ben is like a rabbit in the headlights…he’s still trying to adjust emotionally and still has insecurities about his body.

And my heart ached for Ben, at times, as he battled his inner demons.

However, they start to text each other and develop a friendship but when feelings get involved Ben knows he has to tell Sid about being trans.I loved how Sid reacted….all he wanted was to make Ben at ease.

I’ve read a few transgender books but this is the first one where I came to fully appreciate that people have choices, things aren’t straight forward and that Ben’s decision regarding his own personal transition was right for him.

The relationship between them developed at exactly the right pace and…

…they are just perfect together.

I just have to mention a new character that was introduced.Johnny…how I loved that dirty boy, with his messy blonde hair and love of eyeliner.I’m keeping everything crossed that it’s his story next.

Definitely a recommended read!

This story is divided into two parts.

Part one starts, when these guys meet at age 17 when Scott’s mother marries Rylan’s father.

Scott never knew who his father was, only that he looks exactly like him. Which is also the reason his mother hates his guts. Scott is absolutely beautiful and his mother really despises him. She blames Scott for how her life turned out, but to be honest….she herself decided to act like the town slut/drunk.

Damn but I hated that woman.

fba8bb20a909103a6a725fb9391a2e25.gif (500×281)

Being dead poor and living in a trailer with all his siblings, having a drunk slut for a mother, Scott doesn’t have much going for himself….except his good looks, which he relies on a great deal.

Jaydenkiss's uploaded images - Imgur

Rylan’s mother left some time ago and his father never really got over this.

He attached himself to the first person, that showed him real interest and married her on the spot. Rylan wants his dad to be happy again, but he soon finds out that his new stepmom is not as wonderful as he thought she would be.

Rylan is gay and has decided to be out and proud at his new high school. I admired him, for not wanting to hide who he was.

He is also extremely attracted to his new and very hot stepbrother.

14e3b052a6e57d43238dcab0dac14944.jpg (500×375):

The both of them have to start sharing a room and soon Rylan learns that Scott is so much more than just a beautiful guy. The two become close….very close 😉

But pretty soon everything falls apart leaving Rylan with a broken heart and a messed up family.

Fast forward 6 years and we get to part 2.

Both men are adults now. Rylan is trying to make ends meets as a photographer and Scott is a sex-icon at a famous club. Scott is quite the manwhore and I was very disappointed in how he turned out. He was not my favorite character. I understood the why, but he just lost a lot of respect from me.

bridgette_burn.gif (575×325)

Rylan, however, is still wonderful. I wished he would have been a bit more angry with Scott, but… if wishes were fishes we’d all swim in riches.

Scott is still exploiting his good looks, thinking that’s all he is good for, but Rylan still sees the man underneath the beauty and tries to be his friend.

2a7d163d7e104769c1a5eb677b300270.jpg (236×243):

And then…….cliffhanger !!!!!!

eb4110e67ae9bef87ab9faf09ff90a69.gif (420×237)

Thankfully I won’t have to wait too long for book 2.

I am so curious to see what will happen next. 😉

Imagines is the Latin plural for Imago, and the only thing better than one metamorphosis, is two.

Jack Brighton and Lawson Gale have been together for six months and are very much in love. Lawson’s work ensuring the survival of the Tillman Copper is demanding as ever, and Jack’s work with the regeneration of the bushfire-ravaged national park is just as hectic.

When Jack suggests they take a short trip, Lawson agrees. But then he is offered a two-week research position in tropical Queensland to help determine why the Ulysses butterfly is on the decline. Figuring they could combine work and pleasure, Jack and Lawson go on their first vacation together.

Working alongside renowned professor Piers Bonfils isn’t easy. But personal and professional differences aside, Lawson is offered a more permanent role in Queensland. Torn between his new life in Tasmania with Jack and a dying species of butterfly he feels compelled to save, Lawson has to decide where his fate lies.

But fate changes the rules. On a research expedition into the depths of the rainforest, suddenly it’s not only the butterflies’ existence that hangs in the balance

A butterfly’s life cycle never changes. From larvae to imago, their course is plotted by design. Jack and Lawson need to determine where they stand if they live through it. Because the only thing more incredible than one imago is two.

*****4.5 Stars*****

“In entomology, we have a term called imagines. It’s the plural of imago. And if imago is one butterfly reaching it’s full potential, then surely we, together, would be imagines.”

And the cuteness continues…
I couldn’t love Jack and Lawson more…

They’re six months into their relationship.Jack has some vacation time and they are planning a trip when Lawson is offered a two week research program to look into the decline of the Ulysses butterfly. So, they decide to combine work and leisure and set off to Queensland.

There is no relationship angst at all here, just an adorable love story.

Lawson is just as feisty as ever and I loved him getting bossy in the bedroom again.
And, Jack (swoon)….who wouldn’t want a boyfriend like him? I adored him, being so protective and taking care of Lawson.

There is a bit of drama and Lawson finds himself with an important decision to make but you always know these two will make it.

The Epilogue couldn’t have been more perfect.

I could read about these two all day long and never get bored.

Highly Recommended series.

*****4.5 Stars*****

4.5 st 2

Before I even read a blurb for this book, knowing it was going to be Apollo’s story, I’m not gonna lie….I was so excited.  In Off Base, Apollo was such a force of strength and integrity; you couldn’t help but fall in love with him. In all honesty, I’m not always a huge fan of age gap stories, but the idea that he falls for his kids caretaker…

…I was sold.

From Off Base, we knew the basics of Apollo’s story, a former SEAL team commander, he is a widower and a single dad.  When At Attention starts, Apollo is raising his twin five-year-old daughters, and it has been two years since the passing of his husband, Neal.  There is no denying Apollo had been struggling, finding it easy to slip into a spiral of grief and regret, but most of all he is lonely.

Apollo’s mother, who lives in a converted apartment above the garage to help with the girls, is taking a dream vacation and will be gone most of the summer.  Dustin, Apollo’s best friend, has just the solution in his baby brother, Dylan.  Ok, this is where we’re going to have to take a moment…

…and just appreciate all that is Dylan.

He’s just graduated from college, he’s crazy smart, he’s fun, he loves kids, he can find the positive in just about any situation, and he is off the charts HOT.  He is in California to do an internship running a youth summer program; he originally came to spend the summer with his brother who is now being deployed.  Apollo is not crazy about having the kid brother who, he remembers from years ago mooning over him with an obvious crush, spend the summer with him and his girls.  What Apollo doesn’t realize is Dylan is no longer a pimple faced teen, oh no, he is definitely all man now.

“He’d waited eight years for Apollo to see him as more that Dustin’s pesky little brother”

As soon as these two meet, the sparks start to fly.

Puzzle Piece Couples Necklaces, You are my missing piece, Hand Cut Coin

Apollo tries so hard to resist temptation, he wants no part of it, but it proves impossible to deny the attraction between them.  To say the chemistry between these two is off the charts is a huge understatement.  I’ve read several books by this author, and this book is in a league of its own, she was able to capture something special with this couple.

When the sex finally happens, it is explosive.

“Life’s too short to dance around sex or be afraid to talk about it.  I’m not ashamed of loving it.”

“I want to watch you come.”  Apollo turned them so that Dylan was sitting facing the mirrored closet doors. “Fuck you are so hot.”  “So are you.”

“Fuck I love my big ideas.” “I think I do too.”

I’m not kidding here; the sex was so hot…and kinky in the best kind of way.  It was fun, playful, filled with dirty talk…yep…it was…yep, AWESOME!

But, beyond the sex, Apollo had a lot of issues going on.

He is really emotionally closed off and doesn’t want to deal with all the baggage he has left over from Neal’s death.  I am really thankful for the dual POV, without it, Apollo would have come across as such an unfeeling asshole.  His saving grace was his actions didn’t come from a mean or uncaring place; they were a direct result of his pain.  However; I was very frustrated with how unfairly he was treating Dylan with his hot and cold act.  I have a hard time with the whole I want you…I don’t want you routine.  But Dylan was such a strong character, especially for being so young, even with his heart on the line he wasn’t going to be jerked around.  He knew what he wanted, how he deserved to be treated and he took a stand.

All in all this book is fantastic, I love this series and most of all these two men.

They just fit together….hopefully forever!

  I highly recommend this book!

Revelation (The Protectors #7) by Sloane Kennedy

****4 Stars****

4gdg

This is the 7th book in the “Protectors” series and I was extremely excited when I found out that Sloane Kennedy was releasing this book a few days sooner. Over the last year, this author has become one of my favorite mm writers and her books are an absolute auto-buy for me.

tumblr_inline_mjgnr4Bzg91qz4rgp_zps4cbef1b6.gif (500×260)

Even though this book can be read as a stand-alone, I would like to encourage everyone to read all her books in the right order. Sloane Kennedy has published a few series, which she keeps adding to, and some characters cross over from one series to the next. Reading these books is so much more enjoyable when you actually know all the side-characters. By now I actually feel part of this huge family she has created.

At the end of my review, I will post a list of all the books, in the right reading order.

If you haven’t started this series yet, I suggest you start now. 😀

This time, it’s Cain and Ethan’s turn…

publication1_5.jpg (246×179):

Cain is one of the men, working for the underground organization, Ronan is leading.

Cain’s new job is to search out Ethan Rhodes. Ethan works at the same hospital as Ronan and the man just seems to have upped and left, leaving his wrecked and blood-stained apartment. Ronan thinks the man is on the run and he wants to know exactly what is going on. So this is where Cain comes in, he wasn’t prepared for what he would find though…

Ethan has been living in hell for the last 4 years.

His story was horrible and though he was quite broken….he wasn’t completely defeated. Part of the reason he wasn’t, was because of Lucy. She is a new character we were introduced to. I loved this girl and I loved Ethan for wanting to protect her…even when he was down and broken.

tumblr_inline_nd51q8Crjh1sd2lsk.gif (500×209)

Seeing Ethan so broken rises every one of Cain’s protective instincts.

“I’d wanted to wash away that proof so that I wouldn’t ache inside for what had happened to him.”

Which confuses even him, because he doesn’t understand why he is feeling this way. Cain has lived through a horrible past of his own and ever since he doesn’t like to be touched and he doesn’t do feelings very well. But there is something different about Ethan and the way he makes him feel.

tumblr_n2vsl5hm4l1rstq9ro3_r1_250.gif (245×175)

In helping Ethan fight his demons, he realizes that Ethan is also helping him fight his.It was very nice seeing these two broken souls come together and start healing each other.

“We were just two people finding in each other what we couldn’t find in ourselves.”

I would have loved to give this book 5 stars but there were some things that bothered me, so I couldn’t. With everything that happened to Ethan, I found it bit hard to believe that he opened up to Cain the way he did. And I don’t just mean mentally, I mean physically. This brings me to the triggers.

For those of you who are sensitive to triggers, be warned that this book deals with several, which I will put under a ⇒spoiler physical abuse, sexual abuse, mental abuse and murder/suicide.⇐

Still, I loved reading this book, as I have loved all of the books in this series…

…and I can’t wait to read the next one, which will be about Phoenix. I have to admit that I myself am extra curious about Vincent, who’s another character we got to meet in this book. I hope we will get his story soon too !!

This is absolutely nothing like anything I’ve read by these two Authors before, in fact,

I don’t think I’ve read anything like it ever.

To say it’s unique is an understatement. I had virtually no clue what was going on most of the time but it’s a wonderfully compulsive read…especially when I reached about 30%…I couldn’t put it down…I had no clue about the outcome but I couldn’t wait to get there.

Well, talk about a crazy ride…

So, what’s it about?

I’m not even going to attempt and try and explain the story…

…I couldn’t even if I tried…

There are three main characters, who are also identified by a number and for the majority of the book, I got 42’s identity completely wrong.

The writing is truly compelling and the story is actually quite brilliant.

I absolutely had a favorite character( I’m not naming him )…

…but that boy was just delicious

The main focus is the spy/mystery element so don’t go into this expecting a romance story, that’s not to say that something quite special does happen in the end.

And I just loved the Epilogue!!

Would I recommend this? Most definitely if you’re after an extremely well written and thought out crazy, crazy story.

Damn this book hit me in the feels….I loved it !!

tumblr_o6s06q9fjO1tv4k5po1_500.gif (500×249)

Jeremy is a teenager with depression and anxiety. He is a mess, and it doesn’t help that his parents won’t acknowledge that there is something seriously wrong. They want him to act normal and stop being a pain in their ass. I hated his parents.

15889634.gif (500×236)

Emmet is autistic. He’s also a genius and he is amazing.

I loved his character. He knows who he is and what his limitations are and he helps the people around him, to understand who he is and what he needs from them. He was funny, sweet and extremely lovable. His parents were awesome people.

Everybody should have parents like that !!

3-love-unconditionally.jpg (1467×1467):

When Emmet first sees Jeremey, he knows, that he wants Jeremey to be his friend…or more specifically….his boyfriend.

“It’s like Elwood Blues says: everybody needs somebody to love. I’m an everybody. I get a somebody.”

He introduces himself to Jeremey at a neighborhood party and this is the start of a beautiful friendship, that eventually leads to more.

15889637.gif (420×210)

The road they travel is not always easy, but it is beautiful. Jeremey has a lot of problems…..starting with his awful parents. With the help of Emmet and Emmet’s parents, things start to change for him.

“I really am Super Emmet, and like the comic book Superman, I have a powerful secret weapon. My mom.”

These two were so sweet together. Especially Emmet. He put a smile on my face on nearly every page.

“Frankly, I’m awesome, and anybody who doesn’t agree should get out of my way.”

I’m not gonna tell you everything that happens. I will tell you, that sometimes the story is hard, but it will also make you laugh and swoon.

I would definitely recommend this book to everybody.

large.jpg (500×332):

“No one is normal. Normal is a lie.”

This was not just a story…it was a beautiful journey about two young boys

…realizing that normally doesn’t exist and that it is ok to be different.

This is the story that had to be told, the story of the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon.

I’m left feeling exactly the same way I felt after reading Unbroken by this Author.I have no idea how to put into words how much I loved this book. One thing is for certain, Larry Benjamin is an extremely talented Author. His writing is beautiful, almost poetic at times and I have swept along in a sea of emotions reading this.

The story is narrated by Thomas-Edward, but it’s not just his story that’s told…it’s Dondi’s as well…an amazing, touching friendship between two very different men.

Starting in the late 1970’s, Thomas and Dondi meet at the college where they are roommates.

Coming from quite a conservative family Thomas is swept away by the larger than life, Dondi.Dondi is like a whirlwind. He’s beautiful, flamboyant, extravagant -he rocks into Thomas’s world and changes it forever.

“Dondi was an inferno, all right. Like the sun, he provided light and warmth. And like the sun, he could burn you to a crisp if you got too close.”

They become lovers, then friends.Dondi is unable to commit to just one person so they up with something that is special…a truly touching friendship…not always perfect but they are constant in each other lives.Dondi might move from one lover to another but he wants Thomas close to him, always.

“Being able to think about you, knowing where you are and that you’re safe comforts me.I know it’s crazy but it’s true. You’re my best friend.”

-Dondi to Thomas.

During one long summer, Thomas meets Matthew, one of Dondi’s brother….and the love story begins. And, it’s a beautiful, powerful love these two men have for each other.
However, the love story isn’t the main focus of this story. It’s about family and friendship and the deep bonds that are unbreakable.

It’s a powerful, emotional story that I’m so glad I read.

I’ve tried to keep this spoiler free about events in the book and I would recommend not reading any reviews as some have touched on what happens and while the outcome becomes inevitable for the reader, I would advise going into it relatively blind.

Highly Recommended.
