Some live on memories…

Almost dying during a pack uprising has a way of shaking things up. I’m no longer Mr. Laid Back now that there’s an itch under my skin I can’t scratch.

On a volunteer mission that goes beyond the walls of our compound, we enter the territory of a pack long thought dead, and find ourselves on the business end of their spears.

What I’m not prepared for is what I find within their walls—The one shifter I never thought I’d see alive, the one I’d mourned twice, the one I’d always loved. He is alive, and if I have anything to do with it, he’ll stay that way. But he’s got secrets, and exposing them could lead us to an enemy worse than the bloodthirsty undead shifters wanting to kill us all…

Wow…this was really good, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I have been curious about Bay and his story, ever since he was introduced in book 1. He has been one of my favorites since the beginning…but I have to say that I have a new favorite right now.

He goes by the name Nash. 😉

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor you're my man + gif

I would advise everyone to not read this book as a standalone, but to start with book 1. I think starting with book 1 will give you much more enjoyment of the story. 😉

Bay is the brother of the Silver Tip Pack Alpha, Dare.

I have always liked him a lot and I thought he was funny and the more relaxed one of the two brothers. But Bay isn’t feeling so right at all. Losing your childhood friend and potential lover not once, but twice, tends to leave some emotional scars. Not the mention everything else that happened in book 1.

Bay needs a time out and he is itching to get away…he feels something pulling at him, something seems to be calling for him. So when there are rumors about the survival of Reese’s (book 1) old pack, Bay sets out to investigate with two other pack mates.

Never in a million years, would he have suspected to come across his childhood friend Nash…

Who seems to have found refuge with the Whitethroat Pack.

jaydenkiss GIF

This Nash isn’t the same Nash he always knew though. This Nash seems not only physically broken, but mentally as well.

For 15 years Nash hasn’t been living but surviving…

But Bay isn’t ready to give up on him…or on them. He is so relieved to get another chance with Nash, that he will fight tooth and nail to make Nash happy again and to get him back with his pack where he belongs.

jaydenkiss GIF

Nash, however, doesn’t think he deserved a place within his old pack. He has some secrets he’s been keeping and he fears that Dare will kick him out once he finds out and that Bay will want nothing more to do with him.

into the wild GIF

This doesn’t prevent him from getting closer to Bay though…because he just can’t stay away from Bay and his intoxicating scent…Damn these two were HOT together.

This book is pretty high on the steamy side with a nice side of “dirty” thrown in. 😛

“Fuck if you could see yourself” “Sucking for all your worth, begging for my dick, for me to fill you up. You need me in your hole, don’t you? You need my come more than your next breath.”

crop output image

I totally understood where Nash was coming. Slowly he starts revealing everything that has happened to him. He shouldn’t have worried about Bay though…The man was so loyal and so in love with Nash!!

“You’re the destiny I’ve been chasing all my life Nash”

Heart-Actual-Animation-GIF.gif (985×554)

I absolutely loved this one…even more than I did book 1. It was heartbreaking, sweet, HOT, and it has the right amount of suspense. I really enjoy this series and I hope there will be many more books to come…

I myself am hoping for Vaughns book…I would like to see him hooking up with the feisty alpha of the Whitethroat Pack. 😛

~Synopsis~

Hagen Wylie has it all figured out. He’s going to live in his hometown, be everybody’s friend, explore new relationships, and rebuild his life after the horrors of war. No muss, no fuss is the plan. He’s well on his way—until he finds out his first love has come home too. Hagen says it’s no big deal, but a chance encounter with Mitch Thayer’s two cute sons puts him directly in the path of the only guy he’s never gotten out of his head.
Mitch returned for three reasons: to raise his sons where he grew up, to move his furniture business and encourage it to thrive, and to win Hagen back. Years away made it perfectly clear the young man he loved in high school is the only one for him. The problem? He left town and they have not talked since.

If Hagen’s going to trust him again, Mitch needs to show him how he’s grown up and isn’t going to let go. They could have a new chance at love… but Hagen is insistent he’s not reviving a relationship with Mitch. Then again, you never know.

I am a huge Mary Calmes fan…she writes it and I read it. Simple as that. 😛

mEJqw_s-200x150.gif (200×150)

This is a “second chance love” trope and even though it wasn’t my favorite by this author (Jory and Sam will always be my fav), it was still a good read. 😉

Hagen and Wylie were best friends when they were young…which eventually turned into much more. They were supposed to live the rest of their lives together… but they did not.

Mitch joined the NFL and left Hagen. He also married a woman and had 2 kids.

tenor.gif (498×278)

Hagen joined the army and he had a very hard time…Now they are about to cross paths once again…

Mitch is moving back to his home town, with his two sons. He never got over Hagen and he wants another chance. Hagen is in some sort of relationship with Ash ( read “fuckbuddies”)  and even though he still has major feelings for Mitch…he doesn’t just want to give in. We get some push and pull, but for me…I just wanted more. I am a big fan of groveling and for me, it wasn’t quite enough. What can I say…I am a vengeful person. 😛

We get some push and pull, but me…I just wanted more. I am a big fan of groveling and for me, it wasn’t quite enough.

What can I say…I am a vengeful person. 😛

BernieVengeful.gif (250×204)

I also think that there was too much time with Ash…I wanted more time with Mitch and Hagen. It just wasn’t enough to give me that really HEA feel…

Other than that, this was a very nice read and of course, we get Mary’s good old “MINE” formula that I have come to love so much. 😉

tenor.gif (498×233)

All in all, it was very enjoyable and in the end, I was very happy that these guys found their way back together.

Talon’s deadly abilities are spiraling out of control. Desperate to keep Finn safe, Talon struggles to protect the man he loves with all his heart and not become the greatest risk to Finn’s life.

Finn has no choice but to offer himself as bait for the evil forces kidnapping enhanced children, facing danger he is untrained and unprepared for, and he will have to do it alone.

Does Talon have one last fight in him? Will he slay everyone who wants to destroy Finn and the team, or will he finally discover that to defeat their enemy and the ultimate threat, the biggest battle he has to face is one with himself?

This series keeps its promise!!!

Imagine my fist bump when I discovered that Who We Truly Are picks up right where Five Minutes Longer left us. Not only plotwise, but also in being as amazing as the first book.

Okay, okay, it was more of an excited squee – umm, internally of course – than anything else, but who wants to quibble over details… 😉

It’s no secret that I had a book crush on Five Minutes Longer and I can wholeheartedly fess up that the crush only intensified. I’m madly in love with Talon and Finn and declared them my favorite couple of the moment when I was asked about it in a Facebook group, just in case you still have any doubts.

Nevertheless, this book took me by surprise. It was not the adrenaline-sparked rollercoaster ride that was book #1 which does not mean it won’t keep you on the edge of your seat sometimes. A lot of things happen again this time around, but most of them are more… subtle. Who We Truly Are concentrates more on the romance between Talon and Finn. You would almost think after what happened last time both men would be safe and sound – not to say happy – in their relationship, but both Talon and Finn still struggle with deeply ingrained self-doubts and shy away from admitting to their feelings, much less say them out loud.

More enhanced children go missing and Finn is -due to his boyish looks- the number one candidate to be sent undercover into a foster home to investigate their disappearance. After the incident at the end of the first book (nope, for those who don’t know the book yet, I won’t tell you what exactly happened because that would spoil the whole fun, wouldn’t it?) said mission sets Talon’s teeth on edge and his protectiveness towards Finn into overdrive…

“Sometimes Talon wished he’d never met Finn. Sometimes he just wanted to run away and hide him to keep him safe.”

Talon’s inner struggle threatens to not only affect their teamwork but also to screw up their relationship.

“Trust me,” Finn said gently and raised Talon’s chin with two small fingers. “I don’t just mean with the job,” Finn added as if Talon didn’t know. As if Talon didn’t understand Finn was asking for more. For him. All of Talon, and especially for Talon’s heart.”

But there is more to it than that. Although it becomes more and more apparent that there evidently might be a possible explanation for what triggers the abilities of the Enhanced, it is still uncharted territory and when Talon’s abilities seem to evolve, he lives in constant fear of hurting Finn. When everything is in danger of spiraling out of control…

… Finn has to give his all to save them both. But Finn would not be Finn if he would not commit himself with heart and soul to the cause and his feelings.

“Miss me?” Resentment flared at the stupid question, and Finn opened his mouth to give Talon a comeback, but Talon’s eyes caught Finn’s own, and Finn saw. Saw all the doubt, worry, fear that had prompted the comment. All the things in him were reflected in Talon’s gaze. He hadn’t been teasing or mocking. “Always.” Finn put every second of longing, lust, and conviction he could into the one word. He didn’t need the love in there. Talon could see in his eyes what was in his heart. It wasn’t just an answer. It was a promise.”

I did not expect the range of feelings I would be going through. Feelings like rage over the still prevailing prejudices against everything and everyone who falls short of the so-called “standard”. Who is different. And although this story is fiction, it is a reminder of the narrow-mindedness of people in the world we are living in at the moment what makes it even more real. Sissy-me even cried at some point because the fate of the enhanced children nearly broke my heart.

The back and forth between Talon and Finn almost floored me. The alternation between hot and tender moments, but also the inner conflict on both sides that burst out into full-blown crises sometimes, put me through the wringer and wrecked my secret stash of chocolate. I took a deep – a very deep – breath and longed for a relaxing massage when both men got their well-deserved HEA.

“No one has ever had that faith in me. Ever… And that’s when I knew. That’s when I knew I’d be a fool to ever let you go.” Tears glinted in Talon’s eyes. “Never again. I am never letting you go.”

We also get a lot of team dynamics and more background info about the other team members in this book and I cannot wait to read more about Gael, whose story is next. After the team more or less accomplished the “test phase” with Finn as a guinea pig of some sorts, the team is growing and now it will be Gael who is assigned a partner and I can already virtually see the sparks that will fly between him and Jake.

Highly recommended!!!

~Synopsis~

Responsible, disciplined William Fox channeled his love for art and his faith in the rules into being an FBI Art Crimes agent. Right and wrong, justice and injustice—the differences are clear, and Will has spent his career drawing a line between them. Maybe his convictions have cost him relationships, but he’s not willing to compromise what he knows is right. Until the night he meets Amory Vaughn.

As the head of his family’s philanthropic foundation, Vaughn knows very well that being rich and powerful can get him almost anything he wants. And when he meets endearingly grumpy and slightly awkward William Fox, he wants him more than he’s wanted anything. Vaughn is used to being desired for his name and his money, but Will doesn’t care about either.
When Vaughn falls back on old habits and attempts to impress Will by stealing a painting Will admires, their nascent bond blows up in his face. But Vaughn isn’t willing to give up on the glimpse of passion he saw the night he took Will apart. Before Will knows it, he’s falling for the man he should have arrested, and Vaughn has to realize that some things can’t be bought or stolen. Love has to be given freely. But can a man who lives by the rules, and a man who thinks the rules don’t apply to him, ever see eye to eye?

Heart of the Steal is a standalone romance with a happy ending. It features a Southern gentleman who thinks he’s always right, a buttoned-up FBI agent who secretly likes his buttons unbuttoned, and wall sex. And desk sex. And picnic blanket sex.

It actually pains me that I have to say, that this isn’t one of my favorite by these authors. Maybe my expectation was a bit too high…

Since I have seriously loved every single book I have read by them.

635860061984474737-1433081324_finals gif 6.gif (357×200)

First of all, it was really hard for me to get into the story.  I just couldn’t seem connected to the MC’s. Nothing about them pulled me in…I think one of the reasons I couldn’t connect with Armory, was the way he was described. Now I am normally not a big fan of long hair, but I can definitely look past that if I have to. The problem is, that he has long gray braided hair and that just seemed so weird to me and made me think of my balding uncle, who only has a thin gray ponytail left…

He-Has-Some-Fierce-Dance-Moves.gif (488×275)

This wasn’t at all attractive to me.  😦  His snobbish, stiff and proper demeanor made it even worse.

I had hoped I would like the other MC a bit more…and I did, but it was like and not love. The reason for this is the fact that William was supposed to be some badass FBI agent…at least that was what I hoped for. He wasn’t so badass at all. To me, he just didn’t give off that whole FBI vibe that I love so much. I guess I figured there would have been a bit more action…

William and Armory meet at an art event that William’s sister is catering. There is instant chemistry between the two of them, and after some serious eye sex across the room…

Armory follows William to a more secluded area…

tumblr_o01oyvgrSw1ry57vwo10_r1_500.gif (480×270)

This is where things get really hot and heavy…

They are both extremely attracted to one another but when people start coming their way they know their fun time is over and they leave without switching info…

Now imagine William’s surprise when the next day he is presented with a gift…a very expensive gift…a stolen painting. Addressed to him by non-other than Amory. The gift also includes a personal invite to a wedding…

William, being an FBI agent for the art crimes department, knows he will have to go and arrest Amory…Yet this isn’t what he does. Instead of arresting the man…

They enjoy another sexy little one on one…

stop-under-arrest.jpg (550×536)

Now, this also bothered me a little bit. This book is fairly heavy on the insta-love/lust since they are all over each other after 5 minutes of meeting. I can get over that though because it’s all about the connection I think.

What I did have a hard time believing, was the fact that William threw all his morals out the window for a man he just met a second ago…But hey…I am not an FBI agent, so how would I know what they think or feel. 😛

These two try to make things work. They are both pretty opposite from one another but they had no problem matching in the bedroom. 😛 That is one thing, that does need to be said…

They certainly lit up the pages!

o-GAY-MEN-KISSING-facebook.jpg (2000×1000)

Slowly they get to know each other beyond the physical and start opening up to one another. I did like the banter between these two, which really made me laugh at times.

I think many will really enjoy this one and if you can look past the gray fox thing…well then you are in for a treat. 😀

~Synopsis~

Once upon a time, the wizard’s apprentice Sam of Wilds got his happily ever after in the arms of his cornerstone, Knight Commander Ryan Foxheart. A year has passed, and while Sam’s been captured five or six more times since then, things are pretty great. His parents are happy, Gary and Tiggy still eat sass for breakfast, Randall is somehow alive despite being older than the gods, the King rules with a gentle hand, Kevin the dragon is as gross as ever, Morgan sighs a lot, Ryan continues to be dashing and immaculate, and Sam is close to convincing Prince Justin they will be best friends forever.
Life is good.
Until it’s not.

Because Vadoma, the leader of the Gypsy clan and Sam’s grandmother, has come to the City of Lockes with a dire prophecy written in the stars: a man of shadows is rising and will consume the world unless Sam faces his destiny and gathers the five dragons of Verania at his side.
And she brings along her second-in-command, a man named Ruv.
Ruv, who Vadoma says is Sam’s true cornerstone.

The first book in the DESTINY FUCK YEAH! Trilogy (because sometimes, having a destiny is the stupidest thing ever).

I won’t go into the storyline too much in this review. I think it’s best to just go in blind and enjoy everything for yourself. sparkling-heart-symbol-for-facebook

All you really need to know is that all our favorites are back together again. Sam, Ryan, Gary, Tiggy, and Kevin are going on a new adventure and this time they will be joined by someone else…

surprised.gif (650×487)

Vadoma, gypsy leader, and Sam’s grandmother has paid the castle a little visit. She brings with her a prophecy that was written in the stars and Sam’s true cornerstone…Ruv. I admit I was a bit worried when I read the blurb. I wanted to know who this Ruv was…

And smash him like Tiggy would do. emoticon-crying-tears-of-joy

tumblr_n6hc7dUFWF1tsyxvbo1_400.gif (320×180)

No worries though…Ryan is still fine as ever. He is Dashing and Immaculate (capitalized so it’s true) after all, so how could Sam ever replace him. It was funny watching him fall over himself with jealousy though…

He really used his posing skills in this book. emoticon-mocking-with-tongue-out

Now Sam and his friends have to get ready because Sam has a destiny to fulfill.

This book was funny as hell, but it had a bit more of a serious tone than “The Lightning Struck Heart”. This is because the stakes in this book are much higher.

It doesn’t end in a major cliffhanger, but a small one. This is after all only the start of the “DESTINY FUCK YEAH! Trilogy”.

I am a sucker for every cloak and dagger stuff I can get my grabby hands on. Mysteries, spies, organized crime, you name it…

Dirty Deeds seemed to meet my desire to a T. I was rubbing my hands in glee, when I found out that it also deals with industrial espionage in the food sector, since this is a bit different from all the other books I normally read and I love it when authors take a chance at something new. The story examines some dark deeds around the world in more detail from a different angle and I thought it would be refreshing to get to know more about it.

“Drummond supplies food and food hybrids across the world. We’re involved in alternate fuel sources and some other side projects that Seth and his people care about.” “All of that food, those seeds, that information and intel, moves across the world,” Tony explained. “There are people who would prefer if their opponents –rebel factions, demonstrators, groups they don’t like– didn’t have food.” “The concept of starving people out.” Now that sounded like power to Gaige. Scary fucking power.”

However, espionage can be a bit tricky and confuse for me, and I have to admit this was also the case here sometimes. I had to read a few passages twice to understand what was going on and I’m still not sure I really understood everything in the end.

Alec Drummond is the CEO of Drummond Enterprises…

Gandy

A family business in the food sector, the FBI has taken aim at in being the initiator of some shady business dealings concerning some dubious, off-the-books deliveries to a Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway, which actually exists, by the way. By infiltrating Gaige Owens, a tech nerd and wizard when it comes to hacking into computers, into the company, FBI-Agent Seth Lang tries to find out who is responsible for said manipulations. Gaige has been coerced by Seth into accepting this job in order to redeem himself of any suspicion in taking part in some deceptive practices by his former lover.

When Gaige’s cover is blown immediately during a break-in, Seth makes Alec and Gaige work together by force on figuring out what is really happening, but it is obvious neither of them wants to lay his cards on the table.

Needless to say, Alec as an uncompromising businessman with a somewhat mysterious aura and a once-burnt-twice-shy past, is not overly thrilled with the idea of having someone snooping around in his business and decides to keep a very close eye on Gaige twenty-four-seven. Well, that does not really help to keep the mutual attraction both men instantly feel at bay and soon enough they find each other head over heels not only in a relationship that threatens their resolve of keeping it no strings attached, but also fear for each other’s lives when things are heating up…

This book can be read as a standalone, although it is a spin-off from the Tough Love Series…

Which I haven’t read so far, and overall this was quite an enjoyable -albeit sometimes a bit confusing- read. I loved the setting, even if I was anxious at the beginning when I found out that it primarily takes place in Germany. For me as a German, these kinds of stories mostly end up being a bit disappointing because of wrong translations etc., but kudos, Ms. Dimon, except for one term of address I can’t see anything wrong with it. The setting itself was described with such a passion for detail without getting too overstated, that I had a feeling I would be right there in Munich with the characters.

I had a bit of a hard time to warm up to Alec in the beginning, but once I got to know him better and his more “human” side, I really liked him. Gaige, on the other hand, I loved from the start. I loved his humor…

“Do you want a hug?” Alec joked. Gaige’s eyebrow lifted. “It is tempting to say yes just to see you panic.”

…Which he often used to cover up his vulnerability and him being such a nerd but radiating some quite bad-ass vibes in defending himself was exactly the type of guy I like to see in my books. Their sex scenes were steamy and hot and to be honest they made me add a half star to my rating.

The reason why I did not give it more stars was once again the whole insta-love stuff.

Believe me, I’m really tired myself to say it again and again in my reviews, but most of the story takes place over a span of one week and sorry, but no… just… no. It is so not believable, especially since Alec is described as a man who does not trust easily and who really jumps to some weird conclusions why he can trust Gaige.

“Do you need anything before we go?” Gaige stopped. “I don’t even understand the question. Like what?” “There’s a shopping area beneath us.” Gaige looked down at his feet. “Really”? The reaction eased the disquieting sense Alec had of being played. Gaige didn’t pretend to know things he didn’t.”

Seriously? Sorry, but for me, this really did upset the applecart regarding his alleged hardass image.  And Gaige gathered some not quite positive experience in the love department, either, so, all in all, it happened way too fast for my taste. Thank goodness, at least the L-word was not mentioned explicitly. Well, it was, but this was a scene that occurred a bit later and was sweet enough to conjure a smile on my face. Someone who rather conjured a constant scowl on my face was Seth. Bloody hell! I hated his guts. What an asshole!!! Like I already said, I don’t know the Tough Love Series yet, but said Seth got his own book in there and to be honest, right now I don’t really feel compelled to read it. 😦

The next book will be about Finn, Alec’s brother, and although I had a few niggles about Dirty Deeds, I will definitely read his book, too.

Apparently, this book is a spin-off of the “Tough love” series, which I have not read. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I do have to say that I was pretty confused the first couple of chapters.

It felt like I had missed something important.

sorry thor government shutdown i have no idea whats going on i had my mom explain it to me but im still confused GIF

Thankfully things cleared up after a while and I really got pulled into the story.

Alec is a billionaire, who runs a company, which is food based. This was one of the parts that was really confusing to me, and I’m still not quite sure what he does exactly. I do know that his company helps with storing important seeds in a “Global Seed Vault”, which is meant to help mankind in case of hunger etc.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor do youunderstanding this + gif

Someone has been using his company to cover up some shady business involving ” The Seed Vault”. This is where CIA agent Seth comes in and demands that Alec works with computer genius/hacker Gaige, to find out what exactly has been going on. Since it seems like an inside job…

Gaige is supposed to do his thing and find the leak.

Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Since Alec doesn’t trust Gaige one bit, he is determined to be the man’s shadow…Which also means, that Gaige will be staying with him at his home, for the duration of this investigation.

What he didn’t take into consideration, however, is the extreme attraction that lingers between the two of them. Being this close 24 hours a day won’t make things any easier.

They succumb to the temptation pretty fast…

6uxu6ot.jpg (500×375)

The first half of this book was a bit confusing and it started off a bit slow. I felt like there was too much telling and not enough showing. The MC’s spend a lot of time in their heads when I would have preferred them interacting a bit more.

This changed a bit during the second half and things got a bit more exciting even though the whole “Vault” thing was a bit confusing at times, I did like the mystery part in this one.

The sexy times were also very entertaining. 😉

I especially liked Gaige’s character. He may have been a computer geek, but he sure had some moves and I loved that he saved Alec’s life more than once.

bdyA3.gif (500×220)

Seth however, I didn’t care for one bit. I found out he has his own book in the “Tough Love” series, but I don’t think I will be reading that one since…I really despised the guy in this book.

tenor.gif (498×270)

The reasons I can’t give this book a full 4 stars, is because the storyline was just a bit too confusing to me.

These two also go from hating each other, to moving in really fast. They didn’t actually use the word “love”,  though it is implied in one of their conversations (which was actually a really cute conversation).  I also really missed an epilogue. I am a sucker for epilogues and I always feel bereft when there isn’t one.

Should there be a next book about Finn, I would definitely read it. He seemed like the more laid back brother, so I am very curious about his story.

“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore.”—Violet Duke

I’ve read 2 other books by this author, but I wasn’t as impressed with them, as I was with this book. This book was flawless, smooth, funny, HOT, dirty, easy going…and I could go on and on. All in all a great story! I am very pleased and it gave off some good vibes. I was pleasantly surprised.

This book starts with Eden…a famous actress.

pιnтereѕт: ❀isabelgracea❀

She is a famous Hollywood star, who is engaged with Brad, who is a famous actor as well. They are on the red carpet at the premiere of Brad’s new movie, when Eden finds out from a reporter, that Brad was cheating on her with his co-star in the movie. She breaks up with him live, right then and there on the red carpet, in front of everyone and leaves. On the way home, she realizes the mistakes she has made.

She is in for another big surprise when she arrives back in her hometown to lick her wounds…What she finds in her very own house is something…or should I say someone…she never expected.

Coop…is an architect landscape.

Nice

He lives in Newberry, Georgia, his hometown and is Eden’s first love. They were together in high school and their first year in college. He didn’t want to leave his hometown, and he went back after he finished college. Coop is a sexy as hell single guy who doesn’t do relationships, only occasionally “benefits” dates. He is dominant, persistent, stubborn, hot, kinky, and he knows how to please a woman 😛

I believe that anyone who says sex is overrated just hasn’t done it properly. … Neil Gaiman

Now, after fourteen years, fate brings them back together.

Coop has moved into her house…well actually it’s their house. They try to stay away from each other, but it’s no good. The attraction between the two of them is just too powerful.

I think Eden was a great heroine, I loved how crazy she was. I liked her determination and her ambition, but I wasn’t a fan of her stubbornness. It was a good thing that she realized this herself at the end.

Coop’s character was amazing. I totally agreed with him. He knew Eden even better than she knew herself. I knew he couldn’t resist her, even if he wanted to. I liked his dark side and that he was very kinky. God how I loved that part. 😛

20645218.gif (437×245)

So as I said, I’m repeating myself again. I loved the book.

Read it yourself and find out why. 😀

A Skin Deep, Inc. Novel

Fighter pilot Jon Russell never sleeps with the same man twice. Known for his lack of shame when it comes to hooking up, Jon has no interest in commitment—even friends with benefits sounds like too much work.
Matt Huffman has slept with lots of women. He’s had loads of girlfriends. So why does the hot as hell pilot getting a tattoo as the result of a lost bet stop his breath? And how come he can’t stop thinking about him, even after he’s gone?

If Jon wanted nothing more than a fling, why does he find himself needing not just Matt’s body, but all of him? And can their relationship withstand the hardships that makes Jon avoid them in the first place?

Even if this is book 2 in the Skin Deep Inc. series it could be read as standalone.

In fact, if I had read this book before book one, I probably would have enjoyed more Colin and Daniel’s story. Here we can testify, as the missed epilogue in Back Piece, that they are still happy and totally in love.

Here, in Pounding Skin, a tattoo artist (Matt Huffman) and a USA Navy pilot (Jon Russell) cross paces in Skin Deep Inc. and they are instantly attracted to each other. The problem? One of them is a manwhore allergic to serious relationships and the other, our tattooed hero, doesn’t know even if he is straight, bi or gay.

“To bi? Or not to bi?”

“Yep. Turns out that I am bi. Because effing hell, I want to taste that man”

Matt is hot. I know it’s not the deepest thing to say as a character’s introduction, but he is and I felt really attracted to him. He is a pure contradiction. He has a badass exterior going on (broad, sexy, tattooed and pierced) but he is kind, shy and insecure in the inside since he is “experimenting” new things and he doesn’t know what to expect or how a fuck buddies arrangement works with another man.

Our other MC, Jon, the pilot, the manwhore, the out and proud who doesn’t want a relationship has been a surprise too.
I was gonna start with “he is hot” but I think once in a review is enough. Straightforward and plain with what he wants, Jon is a great and interesting character. He seems to be very confident and clear: he wants to have fun, no strings. And it’s not a pose, he is really happy being like this.

” Jon would rather chew off one of his own limbs than do anything that resembled ‘settling down'”

Both MCs are deep, complex and attractive enough to support the story themselves even if it’s not necessary because I think this book (and its plot) is better than Back Piece.
I’m not saying book 1 was a bad read because it wasn’t, but to me, it lacked something, a missing piece I couldn’t put my finger on. But this one has found the lost feeling in its predecessor, and LA Witt has done a great job developing plot and characters.

The couple evolution is palpable and progressive. Everything grows naturally between our MCs and that was something that I truly enjoyed.

There are some great things in this book that I feel the need to highlight:

  • This is a story totally based on the relationship development. How they are, how they begin, how they evolve and how they get their HEA.
The plot in this book is a recurrent dynamic in romance. Boy meet boy, everything starts as a casual thing and then the attraction develops into something different, bigger and deeper. But even if the formula has been used till satiation, Witt makes it work perfectly here. I really liked the way the story is told. It is entertaining and sexy and undoubtedly very well written.
  • The sex scenes: my inner slut was totally satisfied. And it wasn’t that way in book one, where they were too many and not as hot as Matt and Jon’s scenes.
But it is true that in my opinion there is still a lot of sex. I would have been happier with less.
  • The background and the secondary character’s stories are remarkable. In this book, you get to know our boys, but also their friends. In fact, after reading about our next couple I’m totally in for book 3. It could be my favorite in this series.

So, would I recommend Pounding Skin? I think is a great read so even if you haven’t enjoyed Back Piece, you could enjoy Jon and Matt’s love story.

This is my first read from this author and I didn’t know what to expect, but if you are looking for some steamy hot sexy stuff, this book is not the one, so move along. For the steamy hot sexy stuff, you have to put your imagination to work… So just romance.

My initial review was different. I was harsher on it, but reading book 2 immediately, make me change my mind. The luck was that kept my review, and not posting it…So back to our book and review…

The book starts with Ava…a young college student who wants to be an architect.

Imagini pentru megan fox

She works part time in one fine restaurant, she lives with her best friend and party with her. One day, before one of her exams, she decides to study in a coffee shop, but when she sees how her time flown, she runs out running right into one hell of a “Sex God”.
Obviously, the attraction between them was off the charts and more important… was mutual.

Rhett…is one of the sexiest eligible bachelor’s from Boston and New York.

Eric Belanger | NEXT Canada

He is one rich sexy guy, tall, well build, gorgeous with sexy and mischievous blue eyes. He knows what he wants, and what he wants is what he gets… No matter what. He wants and likes control, he craves control in every aspect of his life. But when he meets Ava, all his world and life turns upside down.

He’s a guy with a tormented past. She is a girl with trust and relationships issues. What is going to happen with and between them?

At the beginning of the book, I was like…

I didn’t like several aspects in the book. The book, or at least at the beginning of it, was full of boring details. Too many unimportant details about decoration and stuff related with architecture… In my opinion.
Rhett is a little too much insta “in love”. It doesn’t say it, but you as a reader see it, feel it. The action, the connection between them is too fast, too sudden. Too overall.

It would have been better if it was more concentrate on them, as a couple, how they build their relationship slowly. I love insta love, but this was way insta. Another moment that I didn’t like was their first moment as a couple. I not telling anything about this one, because I don’t want to ruin the joy for other readers.

What I love about the book…

❤
Rhett is a possessive, protective, dominant, control freak Son of a Beach. Ava defies him every moment, but of course, she doesn’t win, she just pisses him off more.
I’m not judging the book because is just romance. No… I love romance.

Towards the end of the book, the book got better.

The book got more concentrate on the characters. And especially that final part from Rhett’s POV. I loved Rhett’s sister and can’t wait to read her story.

Well, this second book got unexpectedly good and better from all points of view, in comparison with the first one. The writing got much better…In my opinion. It got more interesting, pleasant, suspenseful, funnier, much concentrate…

Even much hotter… 😛

.

I didn’t expect that but I loved it. I wanted more sexy action.Anyway back to the book and the review…The book continues the action from book one…but after 3 years.

Ava… moved to L.A

Imagini pentru megan fox

Works as an architect and lives alone. She isn’t happy but she gets herself busy in work to forget and not think of anything, especially to Rhett.

Rhett, on the other hand, had to spend this 3 years trying to correct all the mistakes.

Imagini pentru eric belanger

Removing all the evil and hoping that one day he and Ava will be together again. He still loves her and wants her with all his heart. He will not give up at her, at them. And now he has his perfect chance since his sister Valerie is moving to L.A for college.

What really happened 3 years ago? Was it Rhett so cold that he couldn’t be there for Ava when she most needed him? Will Ava forgive Rhett and give them another chance?

As I said at the beginning I liked this book way more than the first one.

A Scoring Chances Novel

It’s been decades since blackmail forced Troy Callahan to retire from playing professional hockey, and he’s built a successful career behind the bench. When he’s offered the opportunity to coach the Asheville Ravens—the most hated team in the ECHL—he’s convinced that his no-nonsense attitude is just what the team needs to put their focus back on hockey. But Troy is disheartened when he finds that the Ravens have signed Shane North, a player known for his aggression. And it only gets worse when Shane’s rough good looks give Troy inappropriate thoughts about a member of his team, even if Shane’s set to retire at the end of the season.

Shane’s career in the majors never quite took off. Wanting to quit on his own terms, Shane agrees to a one-year contract with the Ravens and finds himself playing for a coach who thinks he’s an aging goon and with a team that doesn’t trust him, the coach, or each other. Despite his determination to not get involved, Shane unwillingly becomes part of the team… and is just as unwillingly drawn to the gruff out-and-proud coach. As the Ravens struggle to build a new identity, Shane and Troy succumb to the passion that might cost them everything.

I am a huge fan of this series and this author. So I was very excited to start this one.

What I like most about these books is that even though they are in the same series, they are so different from one another. I found book 1 a bit quirky, book 2 sexy, book 3 romantic, book 4 very emotional and this one…well this one was really fun to read!!

e8abb7ed0914e19ee2fdb17c52c3003a.gif (500×229)

I loved the banter between these two men !! This was definitely my kind of book.

Now that being said…book 4 is still my favorite because the MC’s in that one just ripped my heart to shreds out and put I back in piece by piece.Anyone who has read the previous book (which I recommend you read before this one), knows about the shitstorm that happened with the “Ravens” team. Their former coach, St. Savoy (Laurent’s dad) really messed the team up and now that he has been kicked out, they have a new coach to clean up their act.

Troy has some personal reasons to coach the “Ravens”.

He himself hates St. Savoy for blackmailing him with being gay when he was younger. Coaching this team to success is his way of revenge and giving St. Savoy the middle finger.

tenor.gif (480×360)

Shane is a veteran player, who never really lived up to his potential.

This is gonna be his last season playing and he has decided to go out the way he wants to…by accepting a position for “The Ravens”. Shane is also gay, but after all these years he is still in the closet about it.From the moment these two meet, when Shane shows up late for practice, they clash…Problem is, they are both immediately attracted to each other as well,…

…and fighting and arguing with each other gets them hot. 😛

the breakfast club bender breakfast club judd nelson john bender GIF

Like I said, the banter between them was hilarious and what followed was delicious. We’ve got another controlling dirty talker right here!!

You got me too worked up. You like that? Like knowing how fucking bad I wanted my cock in your mouth, wanted to fuck your throat?

8542822.gif (500×242)

Of course what they are doing isn’t really smart. Troy is after all still Shane’s coach. But the body wants,  what it wants and in this case, after some time…the heart wants what the heart wants…

6359619055908831541633601422_love1.gif (750×670)

Now, these two may not have a romantic bone in their body, but don’t think there wasn’t any love. They were definitely in love, they just weren’t very sappy about it. I don’t need a lot of sap in my books though…give me a funny guy over a sappy one any day!!

“You up for round two, old man? Maybe over that table with your stupid puzzle on it?” It’s a jigsaw puzzle, Shane. Not a jizzsaw puzzle.”

Ge8EX.gif (500×403)

See…funny guys. 😉 Which is also why I love Max, Misha, and Drake so much, who I am happy to say, have some little scenes in this one as well. 😉

Can’t wait for the next book (but I will), which I really hope will be about Xavier…he was awesome!!imageedit_44_8150275859

And if the guilt and shame aren’t enough, his first crush had to turn into one of the sexiest men he’s ever laid eyes on.

Nick and Brin have weeks to steer clear of each other. Weeks to avoid strangling each other. But when stubbornness leads to skyrocketing sexual tension, hate-sex doesn’t seem like such an awful way to work through their frustration. Except hate is a powerful emotion, especially when it’s turned inward. And in Nick’s case he’s been drowning in a sea of self-loathing for so long, he can’t see his way out.

As Brin reconnects with Nick, his perception of what really happened in their past begins to change. He’s finally ready to forgive him and take a second chance on the one guy who stirs him like no other. But Nick’s demons are complicated, heart-wrenching…demanding. So devastating, he might never allow himself true happiness—even with the one man who’s always owned his heart.

I don’t really know how I would classify this story…”Second change love”, “friends to lovers” or “enemies to lovers”…

So I am going with “frenemies to lovers”. What I do know is that this book isn’t exactly “lighthearted”. It didn’t make me burst into a full out sobfest, but it did hurt my heart a bit.

This story starts off with Brin needing a place to stay, because the pipes in his apartment have burst, leaving his place flooded…His friend Elijah offers him a place on the futon in the apartment he shares with his roommate. Since the roommate seems fine with Brin crashing for a while, Brim happily accepts the offer.

But imagine his surprise when Elijah’s roommate is none other than his high school crush…Crush seems to be the proper name in this case since that is exactly what he did to Brin’s heart back then…

...He crushed it…

Nick had never expected to see Brin again. He is happy and sad at the same time. Happy because Brin always meant so much to him…and he still does. Sad because he is so sorry and so ashamed of his behavior back then. He tried to get Brin to listen to him afterward, but Brim wanted nothing more to do with him, which he totally understood.

In the beginning of the story, I was totally on Brin’s side…

I understood why he felt so angry and betrayed and I wanted him to stay far away from Nick. But the more I got to know of Nick and what was plaguing him…the more my heart broke for the guy. Nick had such a low opinion of himself…He was so filled with grief and guilt, I was surprised that he was even functioning at all…

“I couldn’t have what I wanted and still, make up for what I did at the same time. I didn’t deserve it and I’d been paying for it my whole life.”

tumblr_mzsf7ncjTi1rpaykqo1_r1_400.gif (400×224)

He hates himself for everything that has happened in his past and he thinks he doesn’t deserve to be loved. He really wasn’t a bad guy, he was just so young and messed up when things went down with Brin and he didn’t know how to handle things. He is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and he just needs someone to show him that he is worthy to be loved…

And Brin is the perfect man for the job.

I also want to give some credit to Nick’s mom who really came through in the end… Awesome lady, though it took her a bit longer. 😛

I really enjoyed this book, though I would have really liked an epilogue.

Epilogs give me closure and I really wanted to see how things turned out for the two of them. Nick spent most of the book being drowned by feelings of guilt,…

So a glimpse of their future would have been nice. 😛imageedit_7_5186139266

Low on angst + top-notch sexy = another hit in this series

‘A new broom sweeps clean’ as the saying goes and in this case, there is not just one but two needed to clean up the mess the former coach of the Asheville Ravens left behind by making said team the probably most hated in the whole league.

For Troy Callahan, new head coach of the Ravens, whose career as an active hockey player found an abrupt end not long after it began by being outed as gay by the man whose position he acquires now, it is personal satisfaction to succeed where Denis St. Savoy failed in order to get the team back at the top of its game.

The Man / Portrait zeichnen (Inspiration)

His reputation as a control freak, him being tough as nails but also fair, and his changes to the atmosphere, soon earn him the respect of his players. But of course, the players have to earn his respect, too.

Well, that is where the other ‘broom’ comes into play…

gimme one of these and i'm set for life ♥ See More : http://luxurystyle.biz/tattoo/

Shane North, almost at the end of his career, a Player talent which never quite lived up to expectations and whose reputation as a goon being more benched than actually active on the ice, is not quite the addition Troy wants on his team, especially when Shane seems to prove him right on his first day with his supposedly lax attitude.

When both men first meet, they are finding themselves on a collision course of strong will and a personality to match, but they also feel an immediate mutual attraction, neither of them can deny.

“You’re an asshole, but other than that, you’re a pretty stand-up guy.” Shane glanced pointedly down at Troy’s crotch and then back up again.”

And now… Let the sexy times begin! And sexy, not to say steamy and hot, is what you get here, and even though both men are pretty aware of the fact what consequences her relationship could entail…

“He was surprised when, a few seconds later, Troy pushed the curtain aside and got in with him. Shane blinked at him through the water. “Let’s just go ahead and make the most out of this mistake.” With that, Troy grabbed him by the back of the neck to pull him in and kiss him.” For once Shane didn’t even want to argue.”

shower-scene-03.gif (248×140)

… they cannot keep their hands off each other and are very…umm, inventive when it comes down to exploiting every chance they get, even in defiance of any risk.

Although it was another hit, I have to admit that Coach’s Challenge was not a direct hit for me. My favorites in this series are still Power Play and Empty Net, maybe because in both books more emotions are involved. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved the banter between both men and the dirty talk was hot as hell,…

“I already figured you’d be a loudmouth control freak in bed, like you are on the ice, so no surprise there.”

… but both suddenly speaking of having developed deeper feelings came a bit out of thin air for me. Blame it on me being a romantic at heart, but I would have wished for one or two at least a bit tender moment between Troy and Shane beforehand so I could reenact it better.

That doesn’t mean you don’t get any emotions here at all, though. There was at least one scene in the locker room, that actually made me tear up, but it related to a certain Team captain who really stole my heart in this book.

Everything else I love about this series was there, though. Avon Gale’s love for this sport is once again palpable and I’m really not exaggerating here when I say that she made me craving for every scene that is happening on and off the ice.

And aside from the smartass replies from both characters…

“Could you get off my lap? I can’t fucking think about the future with your dick pressing into my thigh.” “That’s my cell phone. Fucking amateur.”

… there was humor galore that made me wheezing with laughter.

“That was the thing about Troy. He just said something like it was fact and made it happen. Shane wouldn’t be surprised if he scored goals back in his hockey-playing days just by looking at the puck and saying, “Get in the net, goddammit.”

Add some great side characters to the mix, like the GM of the team and Troy’s best friend, Gabe, but also Shane’s friend Alani (I promise you, she simply rocks!) and a whole bunch of adorable hockey players…

… and you get an all-around carefree package of an enjoyable read. So now, dear Avon, you just have to tell me that Xavier’s story will be next and I am a very happy little girl. Yes? Pretty please?

Highly recommended!imageedit_58_7020996224

~Synopsis~

Spoiler Alert! The following blurb contains spoilers for Insight, book one of The Community.

Holden Payne has it all . . . or so he thinks. As heir to the founder of the Community—an organization that finds, protects, and manages psychics—he’s rich, powerful, and treated like royalty. But after a series of disappearances and murders rock the Community, he’s branded the fall guy for the scandal and saddled with a babysitter.
Sixtus Rossi is a broad-shouldered, tattooed lumbersexual with a man-bun and a steely gaze. He’s also an Invulnerable—supposedly impervious to both psychic abilities and Holden’s charms. It’s a claim Holden takes as a challenge. Especially if sleeping with Six may help him learn whether the Community had more to do with the disappearances than they claimed.
As Holden uncovers the truth, he also finds himself getting in deep with the man sent to watch him. His plan to seduce Six for information leads to a connection so intense that some of Six’s shields come crashing down. And with that comes a frightening realization: Holden has to either stand by the Community that has given him everything, or abandon his old life to protect the people he loves.

I loved it! Another Winner…An amazing read!

Oversight, book 2 in The Community Series, by Santino Hassell is darker than it’s predecessor, undoubtedly more complex and equally good. I dare to say, even better. And I truly love Insight, so that statement is coming from someone who is already in love with Nate and Trent and considers the couple hard to beat.

This story is the evolution of what we started in that liquor store in Texas.  In book one we were introduced to another world, a fantastic universe of psychics and powers and in this second installment, we are dragged in a more profound level. Deeper and direct to the human evilness.

This book is dark, sexy, sinfully funny, sarcastically realistic and full of lies, greed, fears, and secrets.

The tone in this story can only be described as obscure. You could say it is scarier and creepier than Insight. It’s also completely different in the perception, and that’s because of our narrator, Holden Payne is a cynical cocky bastard with a sarcastic humor that impregnates the story completely and makes the narration as sophisticated as he is.

Holden’s voice is pretty singular and clear. He is charismatic and charming and also a lonely man, insecure in the inside and, as we can witness, a little oblivious about what happens in The Community where he’s been raised.

I also love Sixtus Rossi, a.k.a Six… an invulnerable.

Yes, that’s Six’s gift, and not a subjective perception of this reader, since probably I would have described him as hot, honest, loyal, lost, sweet…(yes, I think the impenetrable is sweet)
In many occasions, Holden referred to him as a robot or a cyborg and that’s because my poor Sixtus has the rare talent of not feeling any kind of empathy. He also has the shield that Holden’s power needs: he can’t influence Six as he is used to doing. Holden can’t even read him. What a challenge, right? Right!

To me, the mere existence/appearance of Six is enthralling enough to keep me intrigued and captivated. It is true that I missed Nate’s visions in the first chapters but that´s because they were one of the things I loved the most in Insight but, really, having Six and his mysterious and appealing personality did it for me too. And also: Nate and Trent are in the house!!! Oh yes, they are.

I loved the paradox in this story: the relationship between an empath and an invulnerable man, not capable of feeling empathy.

The way they feel for each other. The love story between our MCs is beautiful. There is great love here, really. And it also has a hint of enemies to lovers very enjoyable where the chasing, the banter and the funny conversations between this two, apparently opposite characters conforms a big part of the Oversight big picture.

The complexity of the plot is bigger here that in Insight and not just because our narrator is completely different from Nate, but because it has a huge dose of “political” thriller. Santino takes the readers deep into the ins and outs of an organization full of lies, nastiness, and malice.

Here we faced a battle between good and evil…

…and we find out how far humans (evolved or not) can go to get what they want and how they can use other people to satisfy their own purposes.

I am hungry for book 3. I can´t wait. I know I have to because it won’t be out until October but I´m really anxious.

Highly recommend!imageedit_29_8155881553
