Daymon is the second prince of a kingdom in which Evokers—those who possess intuitive magical abilities—have long since been treated with fear and mistrust. Marked as an Evoker himself, Daymon is captured by those who wish to take advantage of these powers. Now, the prince must put his faith in Rhyder, the captain of his guards—and the man Daymon has claimed as his own—to free him.
Kaidyn is the son of the queen and a trainee officer in the kingdom of Sareen. He is also a Half-Blood—his father is from Iskandir, a neighboring kingdom which has been at war with Sareen for many years. Bitter and angry at the prejudice he faces, Kaidyn meets Sorin, a healer from one of Sareen’s most prominent noble families. As their relationship deepens, the war between Sareen and Iskandir grows worse. Not only will the pair inevitably become involved with the conflict one way or another, but Sorin is also hiding a secret, and time is running out for them both.
A Trust to Follow
This is the first book in the Wild Magics series by Diana Waters and it’s also my first book by this author.
Even if I am not a big fan of short stories, I enjoyed this one. The writing was engaging, and I got pretty curious about the outcome.
This is a fantasy story, Daymon is a prince with magical abilities, an Evoker. Unfortunately, his magical powers got him captured.
Rhyder is the captain of his guards, his lover and Daymon’s only hope.
This short story can be read as a standalone and it’s about friendship, hope and wanting to make a change in the people’s opinions about those who are different.
This is the second book in the Wild Magics series, but it can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed it more than the first book, maybe because it was longer, but it had an emotional impact. This story touches the reader. It deals with injustice and not fitting in the world.
Kaidyn is the son of the queen of Sareen but he’s also an officer. He meets Sorin and their lives change forever. Sorin hides many secrets. The main characters are really different but they complete each other so well. Kai changes so much. This story has many unexpected turns and is pretty sweet at times.
The writing was great, the story has action and I enjoyed the characters’ backstories.
