~Synopsis~

If someone were to ask Jasmine Santos to describe the last few years of her life with a single word, it would definitely be a four-letter one.
After seventeen years—and countless broken bones and broken promises—she knows her window to compete in figure skating is coming to a close.
But when the offer of a lifetime comes in from an arrogant idiot she’s spent the last decade dreaming about pushing in the way of a moving bus, Jasmine might have to reconsider everything.
Including Ivan Lukov.

I was so freaking excited to read this one! I love this author’s work, and “Kulti”  is one of my all-time favorite M/F books. Now I have got to be honest though…I liked this one, but I didn’t love it. Not as much as all the others I have read by Mariana Zapata…Sorry!

This one started out really awesome. I liked the hero, I loved the heroine and the sports aspect was great…but then…nothing…Jasmine is a professional figure skater…or well she would have still been if her partner hadn’t dumped her. Being who she is and having a bit of a “reputation” it’s not easy finding a new partner.

That is until she is approached by Ivan and his coach…Everyone knows Ivan Lukov,  figure skating “golden boy” and champion. He is also Jasmine’s best friend’s brother and frenemy.

The banter between these two was pretty funny and I loved how they challenged one another. Partnering up means getting to know each other better and growing closer. They even become friends…

Now, everyone knows that this author is the queen of “slow burn”, but in this case, I didn’t really feel the burn. Yes they were friends, and yes they were nice to each other…mostly…but I didn’t feel any real romantic build up. So when they finally did take that jump…the leap was too big for me and I wasn’t all that invested in their romance…It felt like the “I love you” came out of nowhere.

I didn’t feel that way with all the other slow builds this author has written…For me, something was just missing, and that something was…love and chemistry and attraction. I still really enjoyed reading this one, I just don’t think of it as a romance. I have seen lot’s of raving 5 stars reviews, so I am probably the odd duck out.

My advice is to pick up the book and make up your own mind. 😉
