Professionally, the FBI team of Aidan “Irish” Talley and Jameson “Whiskey” Walker is as good as it gets, closing cases faster than any team at the Bureau. Personally, it’s a different story. Aidan’s feelings for Jamie scare the hell out of him: he won’t risk losing another love no matter how heart-tripping the intimacy between them. And loss is a grim reality with the terrorist Renaud still on their trail, leaving a pile of bodies in his wake.
Going undercover on a new case gets them out of town and off the killer’s radar. They’re assigned to investigate an identity theft ring involving a college basketball team in Jamie’s home state, where Jamie’s past makes him perfect for the role of coach. But returning to the court brings more than old memories.
As secrets and shocking betrayals abound, none may be more dangerous than the one Jamie’s been keeping: a secret about the death of Aidan’s husband that could blow his partner’s world apart and destroy forever the fragile bonds of trust and love building between them.
“Partners, Irish, always.” Lowering their hands, Aidan leaned forward and brushed his lips, sealing the vow.”
“Partners, Whiskey, always.”
For God’s sake, it was about time, guys!!! After a path of trial and tribulation to get to this promise (and not only for Aidan and Jamie, but also for me, dammit!) the ‘always‘ is rather wishful thinking, though, with all the obstacles in their way and secrets still waiting to be revealed and I am pretty sure that the author will send both men and us readers to hell and back in the next book until they get their well-deserved HEA. Zach has worked long and hard to change his life and restore his dignity after the humiliating breakup with Corey two years ago. But bad luck has forced him to backslide again, and he fears that no matter how hard he struggles, he’ll always be a guy on the bottom. Until he meets Duncan, a much older man who takes a professional interest in Zach, boosting his shaky confidence.
But Zach is wary of Duncan’s motivations, even as he finds himself increasingly drawn in by his intense gaze and whimsical charm. To complicate matters, Duncan has a surprising connection to Zach’s ex-boyfriend Corey, forcing his past and present to collide, and Zach wonders if he’s really heading toward a brighter future, or if he’s once again on the path to self-destruction.
I have skipped book 1 in this series and went straight to book 2, which I loved by the way. 😉
This is something I do from time to time. Book 1 is still on my “to read” list, but when I found out this book (3) was out…I couldn’t resist jumping right into this one first.
I will still go back and read book 1 though…promise. 😀 Continue reading “~Review~Guys on the Bottom (Guys #3) by Darien Cox~”
Title: Kiss My Boots
Author: Harper Sloan
Series: Coming Home #2
Publisher: Pocket Books
Page Count: 369 pages
Release Date: July 18, 2017
Genre(s): Contemporary Romance
Rating: 4 Stars out of 5
In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?
Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.
The only place Tate Montgomery ever truly felt at home growing up was during the long, sweltering summer months he spent at his Gram and Paw’s farm in Pine Oak, Texas. Now, Tate has returned to his childhood sanctuary seeking a fresh start—but if he’s being entirely honest, he’s not just back for the wranglers and Stetsons. During those summers, Quinn was a friend-turned-young-love who Tate lost when life threw him a curveball and he cut all ties to his past; but all it takes is one glance at the raven-haired beauty he did his best to forget for him to realize just how much he’s been missing…
I have read almost all of Harper Sloan’s books, so of course, I had to read this series as well. 😉 I absolutely loved the “Security” series and “Hopetown” even more.
This series is a bit different though… For one, we get Cowboys…woohoo!! Continue reading “~Review~Kiss My Boots (Coming Home #2) by Harper Sloan~”
