 ~Blurb~

Starting over isn’t easy, but Ben is ready to live his life as the man he was always meant to be.

Ben is transgender and back at university after hormone treatment and chest surgery. His new housemates have no idea about his history and Ben would prefer to keep it that way. He’s starting from scratch and his life is finally on track, except in the romance department. The idea of dating guys as a guy is exhilarating but terrifying, because if Ben wants a boyfriend he’ll have to disclose his secret.

Sid is drawn to Ben from the moment they meet. He normally gets what he wants—in the short term at least. Ben’s guarded at first, and Sid’s not used to guys rejecting his advances. He eventually charms his way through Ben’s defences and helps Ben on his journey of sexual awakening.

It doesn’t matter to Sid that Ben is trans. He’s attracted to the whole person, and isn’t worried about what is—or isn’t—in Ben’s pants. They’re good together, and both of them are falling hard and fast, but Ben’s insecurities keep getting in the way. If Sid can convince Ben he’s committed, will Ben finally be able to put his heart on the line?

Although this book is part of the Housemates series, it has new main characters, a satisfying happy ending, and can be read as a standalone.

Another great book in this super sexy series but can be read as a standalone.

Ben and Sid were briefly introduced in the previous book.

Ben is transgender and has gone through his transition. He returns back to the shared house in the New Year determined to try and be more outgoing and interact with people more.

Sid is Jude’s ex-hook up from the previous book. He’s just recently broken up with someone so when he gets an invitation from Jude inviting him on a night out with his friends he thinks why not?

Sid and Ben are drawn to each other, not least because of everyone else in part of a couple. They get on well and Sid finds himself getting more and more attracted to Ben, so much so that he doesn’t hold back.

“So, what do you say? Want to try having sober sex with me?”

Poor Ben is like a rabbit in the headlights…he’s still trying to adjust emotionally and still has insecurities about his body.

And my heart ached for Ben, at times, as he battled his inner demons.

However, they start to text each other and develop a friendship but when feelings get involved Ben knows he has to tell Sid about being trans.I loved how Sid reacted….all he wanted was to make Ben at ease.

I’ve read a few transgender books but this is the first one where I came to fully appreciate that people have choices, things aren’t straight forward and that Ben’s decision regarding his own personal transition was right for him.

The relationship between them developed at exactly the right pace and…

…they are just perfect together.

I just have to mention a new character that was introduced.Johnny…how I loved that dirty boy, with his messy blonde hair and love of eyeliner.I’m keeping everything crossed that it’s his story next.

Definitely a recommended read!

He rotated and folded his arms on the tub’s edge. “What would you do,” he said, voice rough and rumbling, “if you’d already lost the love of your life, only to find a second chance at something – maybe love, you’re not sure yet – and before you can even wrap your head around the idea, that second chance is almost snatched away? Not once but twice.”

Beautiful photos of gay couples:

My initial thoughts? Here we go again! Insta-lust.

Definitely one of my pet peeves, but…

For the first time, an author bothers to explain in a believable and realistic fashion to me why both men feel this way and I was able to relate, not to say be completely fine with it.

FBI-Agent Aidan Talley (“Irish”) is still grieving.

Eight months ago he lost his husband and his work partner in a car crash which slowly but surely proves to be not so accidental as it seemed. First day back at his job and he have to deal with a new case and a new partner. A new partner who stirs feelings in him he could not – should not – have. Despite his grief he is lonely, and his new partner, computer specialist Jameson Walker (“Whiskey”), meets exactly his type, but an irrational sense of guilt towards his dead husband makes him shy away from acting on his attraction.

As a former basketball star turned FBI-Agent, the burnt child, in this case, Jamie Walker…

…dreads the fire after the media frenzy surrounding his person, when it comes to the attention of any kind and hides in the cyber division of the FBI until he is partnered with Aidan. A man he already lusted after for three years, but who was definitely off-limits because of his marriage. He knows that life is too short to waste time when it comes to grabbing the chance and take what and who he wants, but he also knows what being in the spotlight can cost him.

Both men are more than reluctant to pursue their growing attraction…

…not just because of Aidan’s survivor’s guilt and Jamie’s fear of exposure, but due to the fraternization policy of the FBI. This proves to be the least of their worries, though, when they find themselves tangled in a web of terrorism, corruption, and betrayal that is their new case and there could be more at stake than just displeasing their employer, namely losing the life of your partner, the man who could be your second chance for love in your life.

He had no idea where they went from here. But for tonight, he wasn’t empty; he was holding life in his arms. Walker dropped a kiss in his hair and Aidan took a deep, contented breath of ocean and sex, of them, memorized it, and tucked it away so no matter what happened, he’d always have tonight.

I just love these two men.

Jamie is such a sweetheart and I just wanted to wrap Aidan in a bubble so he cannot be hurt again. I’m not really a big fan of age-gap, but these guys are just perfect for each other. There are swoon-worthy scenes that just melted my heart, but there is also lots of banter between them that made me howl with laughter.

At times it was a bit difficult to read, though, especially at the beginning, and that is exactly the reason why I don’t give this story solid 5 stars. It might be the fact that English is not my mother tongue, but there were a lot of technical terms I never heard of.  It was a bit arduous to look them up and all the shortcuts like CDC, GNL, BLS, MIT, UT and whatever, left my head spinning sometimes. To add insult to injury, I’m not a computer person. I consider myself lucky to install a new program on my laptop without breaking something and random pop-up windows will bring me occasionally on the verge of a panic attack…

 hack GIF

No, no, it is not that bad, but all the technobabble.

Um, sorry, Jamie, the hacker lingo – left me feeling like I should have read a manual first or taken the crash course ‘How to hack into a computer in five easy steps’ beforehand. After a while, I did not even try to pretend I understood every word they said and just went with the flow, just like at work when our technician tries to explain the engineering marvels to me. But it worked – just like at the office 😉 – and I got the gist of what was going on.

This is a great start to an amazing new series …

…and the ending left me more than anxious for the next book.

It is not a cliffhanger in the classical sense, but a hint that this is just the calm before the storm and secrets threaten to put a strain on Aidan and Jamie’s tentative relationship…

This was an ok read, though it didn’t wow me…I did enjoy reading it.

Valentina, a 31-year-old blogger (think Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City)…

…has had enough of the men in New York city and decides a move to Alaska, where the men seriously outnumber the women, is the way to go.

vzGek_f-maxage-0_s-200x150.gif (200×150)

I didn’t care for Valentina a lot…which is one of the main reasons this book didn’t wow me. Her writing-experiment is going very well, comparing Alaskan men to New Yorkers. She catches the eyes of many men, but there is one she is really interested in…

…Logan, the police chief.

b55ff39915f27e6be82a3e2bd91c8783.jpg (236×352):

These two get to know each other and after some events, they take things a step further. They were pretty hot together and…

Logan had quite the dirty mouth, which is always a plus in my book. 😀

7352800.gif (400×200)

Of course, things won’t stay perfect for long and there are some miscommunications that mess things up for the two of them.

No worries though….this one does end on a perfect HEA. 😉

If you are looking for something light, sassy, sexy, funny, you should give this one a try.

I seriously couldn’t wait to read this after reading book one Pieces of Me and it didn’t disappoint.

I knew that Scott and Rylan still had a long way to go.Their story is extremely emotional and was quite hard to read at times but ultimately it’s a love story, a second chance for two men that were, in the end, perfect together.

This book continues straight after events at the end of book one.

Scott, having always relied on his looks and charisma, finds himself in a difficult place.Just as his life seemed to be on track, career-wise, he’s delt a massive setback.

I found this difficult to read at times. Scott is so emotionally scarred…all he’s been shown in his young life was negatively and the insecurities continued into adulthood. When Rylan comes back into his life, he still can’t let go of the past and tries over and over to push him away believing he’s not good enough for Rylan.

I absolutely loved Rylan. As a reader, I always believed in his love and commitment to Scott and he was what made this book so special for me.Yes, at times, I wanted him to walk away but I always believed in him to do the right thing for both of them.

This is about two men finding their way in life…

…dealing with the past, facing up to the future and while they both had their struggles it was Scott that went on one hell of a journey…and, in the end, he figured it out on his own.

This is emotional, angsty but I always had faith that these two men would make it.

Have to mention one of the best secondary characters I’ve read about in Minh…

I know we kind of got his story/conclusion but I would absolutely love more of his and Chris’s story…maybe just a novella??

Highly Recommended series!

This story will test your boundaries…

… and not only yours, but those of Ben and Gavin, too. And I don’t mean the boundaries of their relationship. I was more than grateful that their steadfast love is the one constant in this book that kept me from ending up as a total mess.

“I love you,” I said, mouthing the edge of his jaw. “You’re my anchor. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“I love you, too. And you don’t have to find out. Because I’ve got your back, Gavin. Always.”

 :

Their love is solid as a rock and they find their strength in each other,

…despite every curveball life throws their way. And this time it is challenging, dark and brutal, even more so than in the previous books.

AJ Rose, bestows deeper insight on us, about what a human being is capable of to inflict pain on another person without any remorse and just for the own profit. There is a trigger warning from the author at the beginning of this book and you should take it very seriously.

This book is definitely not for everyone.

For me, the most challenging part reading about everything that happened here was that the events this story deals with are not just fiction, but to some extent brutal reality. At the same time, though, the knowledge that this book deals with such a tender subject was exactly what kept me reading.

Believe me when I say that the author does not sugarcoat anything…

She does not go easy on anyone. Not on Myah and the other victims. Not on Ben and Gavin. And not on the reader. There is no slow buildup, no lulling into a false sense of security at the beginning of the book. With one phone call in the middle of the night, right on the first page, I was thrown head first into the course of events that kept me on edge most of the time.

“It’s Myah. She’s missing.”

What ensues this call is the desperate search for Gavin’s ex-partner and sister-in-law, as well as the hunt for the perps, with Ben, Gavin and Gavin’s brother Cole left on their own and very little to go on.

While time is running out, evidence rather non-existent and most clues leading to a dead end, the nerves of Ben, Gavin and Cole are stretched too thin and all of them are pushed to their limits of how far they would go to save a life.

. . .:

“You are not a monster,” he said, voice low and trembling. “You are a hero.” I kissed the end of his nose. “So are you.”

For me, Myah just rocks. I liked her from her first appearance and of course, I had to know that she will be okay. No, this was by far not an easy read. We also get Myah’s POV in this book and a few times I was pushed against the walls of my comfort zone due to the graphic descriptions, but to be honest this was not even the worst. It was the mind fuck. The implications. To know what happened and to read about the effects it had on everyone involved.

There is no whitewash about the fact that life sometimes is not fair. And it was the fate of the boys, especially of Marshall, the boy we met in Safeword who already went through so much,…

that nearly broke me and I was a sobbing mess.

So much so that I had to put my Kindle away and needed some time to calm down.

Despite the fact that the search for Myah takes on an important role in this story, the main focus was still laid on Ben and Gavin and I loved how far they had come in their love and trust in each other.

There is still some exploring of limits and new territories, though, and even if I normally love my couples being exclusive, there was one scene that made my hormones perform an excited lap dance.

The threesome in this book was one of the hottest ever!

Lust:

The intimacy about it just felt… right. To be honest, I really don’t know if I should be relieved or disappointed that this will remain most certainly a one-time thing. I would love to read more about a certain someone in the future because for me he was more than an interesting side character.

As hard as it was sometimes to keep reading, towards the end I could not put my Kindle down and…

…the epilogue was just the icing on the cake.

I’m more than curious about where the author will take us with Restraint, the next book in this series.

I admire the courage of AJ Rose to pick up such a sensitive topic and deal with it in a quite relentless way -although she was probably aware of the controversies that will be provoked- while at the same time, she always kept sight of the basics…the romance between Ben and Gavin.

…the romance between Ben and Gavin.

Cry No More was almost perfect. For that, I needed a bit more from the male MC.  I can’t pinpoint why but I couldn’t read him.

Please, don’t tomato’sh me here.   photo throwing-tomatoes-emoticon_zps3sbiydff.gif

But he was too mysterious and not in that fascinating enigmatic way,  it was more like in a shady way. There was something missing, like a piece of a puzzle to make the whole him make sense. On the other hand, the female character exceeded my expectations. Milla had her world ripped apart.

Free Online Image Editor:

But instead of being carried away by darkness and depression,…

Free Online Image Editor:

…and she became a lady on a mission.

my little world..

Tireless on her mission, I must say. Ten years, a pillar, steady, strong, fierce on what she believed. Helping other families, who were facing the same kind of nightmare she had once been through in her life.

I couldn’t be prouder of her and yet, at the end, she astonished me again, showing that on top of all her other qualities she was also…

…the most selfless character I came across in a book.

Because c’mon, what she did at the end?  I am not sure I would be able to do the same. Maybe. Maybe not. It’s that kind of situation where you only know what to do once you come across it: to deal with your heart or your reason?

I won’t forget this book anytime soon and that is the reason I will round it up to 5 stars.

A remarkable story!

Well, this is a little gem. It’s the first book I’ve read by this Author and I was very impressed.

This surprised me in the best way, not least, because there are hardly any on page sex scenes but I didn’t care because the writing is so engaging…that’s not to say it isn’t sexy because it is…

Lionel is deliciously femme, from his pink boy shorts, red heels, and his homemade pom-poms.

Doug(Dog) is gay and plays for a gay softball team.

He’s obviously out to his teammates but not his family, something he isn’t planning on changing anytime soon. But his resolve is about to be tested when he meets the tornado that is Lionel.

After a drunken hook up one night, these two seem to take two steps forward and ten steps back as far as dating goes and although they’re complete opposites they are just so damn cute together.

The humor here is brilliant, I’m sure I had a huge smile on my face reading this.

I absolutely loved Dog’s mother, when she found out he was gay, her research went into overdrive.

“I’ve had a very busy twenty-four hours. And I’ve come a long way. Last night I was on the same shift with Juan Hernandez. He’s a gay, and he explained a lot of things to me. He told me all about bears and otters and wolves and cubs and polar bears, and—oh my God you boys like your wild animals, don’t you?”

So…Dog is in the closet with his family… Lionel is out and proud but has to go back in the closet for work…and pretend he’s straight.

Mixed with the sass and humor there is a message here.
Be true to yourself, don’t hide, don’t pretend…just be yourself.

Highly Recommended!
