A Contemporary Romance Novel

New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Authors

Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

I met Bianca in an elevator.

She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.

The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.

She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.

Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn’t appreciate the simple things in life.

So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn’t want it to end.

I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.

I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.

I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.

I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.

And she was falling for two men.

Only, both men were me.

And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.

Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for what came after.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

I sighed audibly. Are we even moving? It was seriously the slowest elevator I’d ever taken. Frustrated, and maybe a bit anxious to get the interview over with, I took another shot at the elevator panel. Again, pressing the button repeatedly, I groaned, “Come on. I’m already freakin’ late.”

I breathed a sigh of relief when the car seemed to finally pick up speed. But then, it jolted to an abrupt stop, and the elevator went pitch black.

“Well now you’ve gone and broken the damn thing,” a deep voice said from behind me. Startled, I jumped and bobbled my cell phone in the dark, which resulted in it falling. From the sound of it smashing against the floor, I knew it had broken.

“Shit! Look what you made me do.” I bent over and patted the floor, but I couldn’t find it. “Can you at least give me some light so I can find my phone?”

“It would be my pleasure.”

“Thank you,” I huffed.

“If I had a cell phone on me.”

“Are you kidding? You don’t have a cell phone on you? Who walks around without their cell phone?”

“Maybe you should try it. If you weren’t so obsessed with yours, we wouldn’t be in this predicament.”

I stood, and my hands went to my hips. “How so?”

“Well, you were so busy typing away on your phone, you didn’t even notice another passenger was in the car with you.”

“Had you seen me, you wouldn’t have jumped hearing my voice and broken your phone. Then we would have had light, and you would be able to see that elevator panel well enough to push that button another twenty or thirty times. I’m sure that would’ve helped.”

I felt the man moving around behind me.

“What are you doing?”

When he answered, his voice came from a different place. It was to my left and beneath me. “I’m on the floor looking for your cell phone.”

It really was pitch dark. I couldn’t see a thing, but I felt the air move, and I knew he must have stood back up.

“Put your hand out.”

“You’re going to put my phone in it, right?”

“No, I’ve taken down my pants and I’m going to stick my dick in it. Christ, you’re really a bitch, aren’t you?”

Thinking he couldn’t see me, I smiled at his sarcasm and put out my hand. “Just give me my phone.”

Wow. My little ball player was quite the fox.

I’d only seen her from the back before the lights went out. Now, I was staring into her beautiful, big brown eyes, feeling like this elevator mishap wasn’t such a bad thing after all.

She cleared her throat. “The lights came back, but we’re still stuck.”

I clicked on some of the buttons. “Seems that way. But this is a step in the right direction. I bet this thing will be moving in no time.”

And by this thing moving, I do not mean my dick, although I could have sworn I felt it twitch when she just licked her beautiful full lips.

Do that again.

She is beautiful.

My eyes travelled down the length of her body then back up again, loving how the small buttons on her conservative blouse formed a path up to her delicate neck. I wouldn’t have minded sucking on that skin.

Maybe I could entice her to play hooky with me.

“Where are you headed once we get out of here?” I asked.

“The thirty-fourth floor,” she said.

What is she doing going up to my floor?

I know she doesn’t work for me. I would have remembered that face, those eyes.

“What kind of business you have going on up there?”

“I actually have the pleasure of interviewing Mister Moneybags himself.”

My stomach sank.

This didn’t bode well for me.

I swallowed then cocked my head to the side and played dumb. “Who?”

“The elusive Dexter Truitt. He’s the CEO of Montague Enterprises. They occupy the entire top floor.”

Trying to seem like I was not seriously about to lose my shit, I asked, “Why do you call him Mister Moneybags?”

“I just picture him to be this crabby, money-hungry asshole, I guess. Sounds like a fitting name. Of course, I don’t actually know him.”

“Why do you think that way about him, then?”

“I have my reasons.”

~Review~Last Dance of The Sugar Plum by Claire Davis & Al Stewart~

Last Dance of The Sugar Plum

by Claire Davis & Al Stewart

*****4.5 Stars*****

This is absolutely nothing like anything I’ve read by these two Authors before, in fact,

I don’t think I’ve read anything like it ever.

To say it’s unique is an understatement. I had virtually no clue what was going on most of the time but it’s a wonderfully compulsive read…especially when I reached about 30%…I couldn’t put it down…I had no clue about the outcome but I couldn’t wait to get there.

Well, talk about a crazy ride…

So, what’s it about?

I’m not even going to attempt and try and explain the story…

…I couldn’t even if I tried…

There are three main characters, who are also identified by a number and for the majority of the book, I got 42’s identity completely wrong.

The writing is truly compelling and the story is actually quite brilliant.

I absolutely had a favorite character( I’m not naming him )…

…but that boy was just delicious

The main focus is the spy/mystery element so don’t go into this expecting a romance story, that’s not to say that something quite special does happen in the end.

And I just loved the Epilogue!!

Would I recommend this? Most definitely if you’re after an extremely well written and thought out crazy, crazy story.

Bless my heart! This story did not only keep the main characters in suspense…

…but kept on me, too…

When I was offered the ARC for Leap of Faith I was all shining eyes and toothy grin, just because of the blurb alone. This is so my kind of book: friends to lovers romance wrapped in a mystery/suspense plot with a whole load of action. For the most part, the story kept its promise, so much so that my eyes were glued to my Kindle and I read it in one go.

Joel Weston and Kieran Ross are partners at FireWorks Security.

tumblr_n0ih36dbJo1ql1p0io1_500.gif (500×273)

They are also best friends since the day Kieran began to work for the organization of Joel’s father which is specializing in kidnappings, extortion and hostage situations.

They rely on each other.

They keep an eye on each other.

They complement each other in every possible way.

Two sides of the same coin.

Both men just clicked from the moment they met and teamed up to such an extent that neither one dares to admit to himself -much less to the other- that there are deeper feelings in play. They refuse to pursue their chemistry from fear of risking their friendship or their teamwork.

“Joel had no idea how to phrase what he meant to say. “We’re good as a team. We’re good as friends. We both worked hard to get this far. Going any further could ruin everything.”

When a hostage situation hits too close to home and subsequently someone tries to kill them at every turn, both men have to deal with their feelings for each other eventually, but also with ghosts of the past, both to overcome their fear and to get to the bottom of things.

I instantly connected with the characters, albeit a bit more with Kieran. That did not surprise me at all because it is a fact that I have a penchant for tortured heroes and Kieran matched this paradigm to a T with his PTSD and his compassion which leads to letting the fate of every victim of a crime get to him.

Compared to Kieran, Joel remained a bit pale for me, but since this is the first in a new series, I’m pretty sure that will change with the books to come. What I loved about him is his dedication to keep Kieran safe at all costs and to make Kieran feel safe no matter what. He has a somewhat bossy attitude while doing his job, but likes to let it all go when it comes to Kieran dominating him in bed.

Janis Ostojic:

Normally, I am the one who complains about not enough depth in a novella, not enough time to form a basis for a story, but this is not the case here. Like I said, this is the beginning of a series and the author manages to introduce the setting right down to the last detail, be it the location or the structure and tasks of the organization.

On the one hand, it did not feel like a short story. There is so much happening in this book and the roughly 12o pages are filled with adrenaline-level-boosting action scenes, which made me breathless while ensconcing myself in my comfy armchair.  Some people might complain that the romance took a bit of a backseat, but you are dealing with an ultimate slow-burn lover here, so the gradual progress of the relationship just sealed the deal for me to enjoy it. I felt the connection between Joel and Kieren everytime they were together and this kind of relationship needs development, which obviously cannot be established within a few pages.

On the other hand, I still wish the story would have been longer.

My main niggle about it is that there was sometimes too much telling and not enough showing, be it regarding sex scenes – the first real sex scene was off-page, goddammit! – or conversations I would have liked to read about and not just being told afterward that they took place. The sex scenes that were there made up for the lack of those non-explicit, though. Kieran’s kinks are mirrors and –holy moly– that was really hot

The story ends on -um, no… no worries, not on a cliffhanger, at least not regarding the relationship, which can be considered as an HFN – but on a not solved case which will keep the main characters -and I’m pretty sure the reader as well- busy in the next installment.

This was the first book for me from this author, but definitely not the last.

I like her writing and she was able to make me curious about both, the further course of events in this story and also about her other works.

Damn this book hit me in the feels….I loved it !!

tumblr_o6s06q9fjO1tv4k5po1_500.gif (500×249)

Jeremy is a teenager with depression and anxiety. He is a mess, and it doesn’t help that his parents won’t acknowledge that there is something seriously wrong. They want him to act normal and stop being a pain in their ass. I hated his parents.

15889634.gif (500×236)

Emmet is autistic. He’s also a genius and he is amazing.

I loved his character. He knows who he is and what his limitations are and he helps the people around him, to understand who he is and what he needs from them. He was funny, sweet and extremely lovable. His parents were awesome people.

Everybody should have parents like that !!

3-love-unconditionally.jpg (1467×1467):

When Emmet first sees Jeremey, he knows, that he wants Jeremey to be his friend…or more specifically….his boyfriend.

“It’s like Elwood Blues says: everybody needs somebody to love. I’m an everybody. I get a somebody.”

He introduces himself to Jeremey at a neighborhood party and this is the start of a beautiful friendship, that eventually leads to more.

15889637.gif (420×210)

The road they travel is not always easy, but it is beautiful. Jeremey has a lot of problems…..starting with his awful parents. With the help of Emmet and Emmet’s parents, things start to change for him.

“I really am Super Emmet, and like the comic book Superman, I have a powerful secret weapon. My mom.”

These two were so sweet together. Especially Emmet. He put a smile on my face on nearly every page.

“Frankly, I’m awesome, and anybody who doesn’t agree should get out of my way.”

I’m not gonna tell you everything that happens. I will tell you, that sometimes the story is hard, but it will also make you laugh and swoon.

I would definitely recommend this book to everybody.

large.jpg (500×332):

“No one is normal. Normal is a lie.”

This was not just a story…it was a beautiful journey about two young boys

…realizing that normally doesn’t exist and that it is ok to be different.

After re-reading “The Deepest Blue”, I figured it was time to read Billie’s story.

I loved Billie in book 2 and I really wanted a happy ever after for him.

Those who have read the previous books, know that Billie has been struggling with Epilepsy his whole life. This is were his therapy dog comes in…Bullseye, what an awesome friend he was to Billie. I loved that dog !!

Billie is now in his early twenties, working at his own bakery with his friend Dylan. Dylan hasn’t had it easy growing up with an alcoholic father, who kicked him out because he was gay. Thankfully the “Montgomery’s were there, to pick him up, when he needed it. He has been a part of the family ever since and Dylan and Billie are the best of friends.

Dylan, however, is feeling a bit more than just friendship for Billie. Too bad that Billie is still hung up on his first love Leo.

He is convinced Leo will come back and they will be together again…

One drunken night at a club leads to more than platonic friendship and once things get started…

…they are hard to stop…

But Dylan knows that Billie wants to be with Leo… and Billie knows that Dylan isn’t looking for anything more than fun…

I really enjoyed this little novella,…

…though I have to say that Billie’s pining over Leo frustrated me at times.

Dylan, however, was an amazing character.
