~Review~Finding Hope by Sloane Kennedy~

Finding Hope (Finding #5) by Sloane Kennedy

*****5 Stars*****

I am a huge Sloane Kennedy fan.

Over the last year, she has become one of my favorite MM authors.Every book she writes is an auto-buy for me and I have been patiently waiting for Beck’s story. Thankfully, Sloane Kennedy never makes me wait very long 😉

When I saw this baby on Amazon yesterday…I screamed…

Now before I go any further with this review….

I want to point out that this book has some major triggers.

To know what they are, you have to look into the book, though, but I am gonna explain them right here because for some people this can be a very serious issue. This book deals with depression, suicide attempt, (sexual) child abuse and rape.

Now for the book…..damn this book broke my heart.

I can honestly say that this is my favorite book in this series…maybe even out of all the series. I read it all in one go. This is also the only book that had me wiping tears off my face from beginning to end….

Plenty of Sloane’s books have made me cry…

…but not from the beginning to the last page.

Thankfully there were also some really bright and loving parts 😉

Not to mention..HOT parts.

Beck (19) is Cade and Rafe’s son(for those of you who have read Rafe’s book).

He was adopted by his father’s when he was 13/14 years old. He has been struggling with depression for most of his life. His struggles got very bad 15 months ago and now he is ready for a time out. Time away from his dads who are analyzing his every move and all the people who look at him funny. He is about to spend his summer in Montana working on a ranch.

But before he get’s there…he makes a little detour that will change his life forever.

Brody is a politician’s son and 3 years ago he finally escaped the clutches of his family…

..and jumped out of the closet. He is working as a paramedic, but he also has a small construction business on the side. He is happy living out and proud and doing what he always wanted. The only thing he misses from his former life is his twin brother Nathan.

Quinn is a rancher. Two years ago, his happy life was ripped apart.

Now he just goes to gay bars for hook-ups, because he isn’t interested in something more. He already had his happily ever after…even though it didn’t last forever.

These three men come together (pun intended) and have a very hot encounter in a bathroom stall at a gay club.

And let me tell you….they were HOT !!

giphy.gif (500×208)

All three of them are surprised by how good it felt being together that way.

But none of them are as surprised as Beck. Things weren’t supposed to be like this for him….so he panics and runs.

That was supposed to be the end for the three of them, but faith isn’t  done with them yet.

They come face to face again and even though all three of them have issues about relationships, one more so than the other, they can’t help the pull they feel towards each other. Things aren’t easy, though. Beck has a lot of baggage he carries around.

My heart and the hearts of both his men broke when he finally confessed his story….

They were so perfect together.

I love MMM books, but no one writes them as good as Sloane Kennedy. You can feel their connection right from the start and you just know that they belong together.

As hard as it was to read this book…I loved every second of it. It hurt so good.

The sex scenes between these three men were amazing.  They were very hot, yet so loving and intimate and I kind of felt like a peeping Tom….

I also loved reading about all the old couples.

Cade and Rafe, Jax and Dane, Hunter and Roman, Callan, Rhys, and Finn. All Sloane Kennedy’s men are connected in some way and I love being a secret part of this awesome family she created.

So, for me, this one is going on my “deserves 6 stars” shelf.

I can’t wait to see what’s next. I also hope we’ll be getting a book about Nathan, Brody’s brother. Pretty please ????

~Review~ Twist by Kylie Scott

Twist (Dive Bar, #2)

Twist (Dive Bar #2) by Kylie Scott

****4 Stars****

Star_rating_4_of_5.png (1011×215):

Ever since reading the first book in the “Stage Dive” series, I have been a huge fan of Kylie Scott.

I loved all books in that series and so when the “Dive Bar” series came out, I jumped right into that one too. I really liked the first book in this series, so when I received an ARC for book 2, it made my day.  🙂

sister-act-gif-1450365032.gif (600×300)

I have to say that I liked this book a bit more than book 1. Reason being… the heroine.   She was extremely funny and sarcastic…and I just love some me good sarcasm…

This book is about Joe and Alex….and no, Alex is not a guy….sorry guys. 😛

Joe is a sexy lumbersexual, working as a bartender at “Dive Bar”. He also helps his father in his carpentry business. Joe has a beard….Bearded men usually don’t do it for me….at all. However, the reference to “Thor” kind of got to me, so I figured I could work with it.  😉

Chris-Hemsworth-Hair-Thor.jpg (500×500):

Joe has been snooping in his brother Erik’s online dating account and it was there, that he met the lovely Alex.

Alex is a graphic designer, who works mostly from home.

She doesn’t have many friends, just one really because she is a bit socially awkward. She doesn’t do relationships either. One night stands are really all that she is after, but after emailing back and forth with her new online buddy, she starts reconsidering. Finally, she picks up the courage, to go meet the man face to face.

These two don’t really start off on the right foot. It did make for some hilarious scenes, though.

I loved snarky Alex !!

“Lumbersexuals were clearly the worst. Truth was, I’d never been especially into beards.  At best, I’d been indifferent. Now, however, I outright despised them. Horrible hairy frames for lying lips and duplicitous tongues, that’s what they were. Loathsome whiskery bastards. Burn them all in a fire”.

This girl was funny as hell !!

I also really liked Joe. He was very sweet, charming and sexy, though, at the end, he pissed me off something fierce !!

Still…these two made an awesome couple.

They were funny together, their banter was great and the steam was HOT !!

giphy.gif (500×250)

I am very curious to see who is gonna be next in this series. I myself hope it’s Erik’s turn to fall flat on his face. That guy needs a good kick in the nuts by the right girl !!

Even though I really liked this book and I laughed my ass off…

Mal and Jimmy from “Stage Dive” will always be my favorites…..though you never know.

An ARC was kindly provided to me, by the author, in exchange for an honest review.

~Review~ Lost Rider by Harper Sloan~

Lost Rider (Coming Home #1) by Harper Sloan

4-star-rating.jpg (1547×292):

I have a very deep love for cowboys, so when I was given the chance of reviewing a “cowboy” book, by one of my favorite authors…I jumped on it !!

You know what they say….and I totally agree !!

save_a_horse_ride_a_cowboy.jpg (400×400):

“Lost Rider” is the first book in this new series by Haper Sloan.

It was very different, from all the other books I have read by her (which are a lot), though one thing has not changed…. the delicious alpha hero.  😉

1406937578668 (500×320):

The beginning of this books has some flashbacks to the past when Maverick and Leighton were much younger. Leighton has always had a huge crush on her best friends older brother.

636020789802055665-1828284865_break-up-quotes.jpg (625×363):

Maverick had a really hard time growing up.

His father was an absolute asshole and the only thing that kept Maverick going were his dreams of bull riding…and Leighton. He knows he can’t stay…he is slowly dying inside. He knows she has a big crush on him and he knows that she would follow him to the end of the world if need be…So he does the only thing he can think of. He breaks her 16-year-old heart into little pieces and goes off to chase his dreams.

741393._SY540_.jpg (359×540):

Fast forward 10 years and Maverick is forced to come home again.

His bull riding career has come to a screeching halt and his siblings need him because their father has died. Coming home also means…

…Coming face to face with the one girl he never wanted to leave…

1.jpg (905×601):

Leighton was crushed when Maverick broke her heart and left…

But she has since grown up and made a life for herself. Maverick still owns a piece of her heart though and she doesn’t know if that will ever change. Now Maverick has come back and he has made it very clear he wants her and he intends to never let her go.

But how will she ever trust him again...

7677cf1b0a9b7969264d1fa7995f7c3e.gif (500×280)

This was a very low on angst, second chance story.

Not only a second chance on love but a second chance on family and life. I enjoyed reading it, though I would have enjoyed it more if there would have been a bit more angst. I also would have preferred a bit more dialogue. The MC’s spend a lot of time in their heads…

I liked Maverick and Leighton, though Leighton did annoy me at times. I know what Maverick did to her when she was 16, was extremely shitty, but in my opinion, him leaving was a necessity. Not everything was about her, though for some reason, she made it out to be. Thankfully she was also funny as hell, so that made up for her annoying parts.

As for Maverick…yeah he was a major asshole in the beginning. But what can I say…I like assholes and he did try very hard to redeem himself. He was also a major dirty talker, which get’s me all the time.  😉

The steam in this book was delicious…

“I was lost once. A Rider without the ability to do what he loved. I came home even though it was the last place I thought I wanted to be, and in the process not only did I find myself again, but I also found that my reason for livin’ didn’t have shit to do with ridin’. ”

d89cb9f53012c95fae6436b01fe9cae2.jpg (536×603):

I do have to say that “Corps Security” and especially “Hope Town” are still my favorite series by this author, though. I don’t think anything will change that. Still, this was a very sweet, low on angst and high on love “second chance” story. I am definitely reading the next book !!

An arc was kindle provided to me by the author, via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
