Crown of Lies (Truth and Lies Duet #1) by Pepper Winters
I love this author books. I read the Indebt and Monster in the Dark series and I LOVED them. I love how dark and twisted the books are.
I was expecting that this book was the same as those I read. But no…
…This is a little different. Yes, this book is a love story, hot and twisted. Really hot, full of suspense, mystery, drama and adrenaline. Keeps your mind on the go. Just like the rest of the books. But to me, it seemed a little childish, pure. I don’t know why. Maybe because of the girl, of what happened to her, the way her life took off the way it did.
From a very young age, Noelle Charlston a.k.a Elle …
…Has been literally raised and trained to run her family’s business, to take over after his father’s retirement. Unlike other kids her age, all her childhood and free time were spent learning the business and preparing to lead the company. She becomes one of the most successful business women. Elle seems to have a dream life. She leads a life of privilege and has everything that money can buy. But of course, she longs for all the things that money can’t buy. Her only “friends” being her father and her cat. She always wondered what a normal life is and felt like. She was the perfect child.
But on her nineteenth birthday, she makes herself a present.
A night, one experience as a normal girl with a normal life, without protection from her bodyguard/driver. So right when she decides to call the night, the danger takes over. She is dragged into a deserted alley, robbed and almost raped. But saved in time from all that and worse, by one stranger.
Nameless changed her life in so many ways.
After 3 years Penn Everett appears in her life, and this man changes her life too, upside down.
The story was amazing. What a unique story!
The characters are intriguing. Over the entire book I wondered who is Penn and where is Nameless.
I loved Penn. What an alfa male….pfff. HOTTTT.
Rough, sexy as fuck, dominant asshole. I love this type of bad guys.
Nameless, on the other hand, was a smart mouth, sweet guy.
Never crossed the line, a hero, and a gentleman. But still, I loved Penn. What can I say….I’m a sucker for assholes, losers, and bad guys.
I love Ms. Winters writing and mindfucked stories. Can’t wait to start reading the next book.
