Everyone that knows me, also knows that I like doing shit ass backward. 🙃
So it shouldn’t be a surprise that I started this series with the last book. 😁
I didn’t matter, though, because this book can be read as a stand alone without getting lost. I have read many of Nicole Edwards’s books and the one thing I am always sure of even before I start reading is that it’s gonna be HOT as hell !! This book was no exception. Dylan was quite the dirty talker !!
That, however, is not all that this book is about. This book carries a more emotional undertone than most of her other books.
Dylan has been mourning the loss of his wife for many years. He has been struggling with depression and trying to find peace of mind at the bottom of a bottle. He has been surrounded by darkness for a long time. That is until one fierce woman from his past shines a little light on him.
Sarah is fighting her own demons. Her husband committed suicide, leaving Sarah heartbroken and angry. One encounter with a man from her past gives her back some hope. One hot encounter against the wall doesn’t heal their broken souls, though.
Sarah realizes that she can’t heal Dylan and take away his pain. He has to want and do this by himself. So Sarah decides to work on herself instead…she has had enough and she doesn’t want to be lost anymore.
Fast forward 3 years and these two get another chance to be with each other.
This time they both had time to work on themselves and they are both a little less broken. They agree to fresh start, taking things day by day. This leads to some explosive hot scenes between the two of them and even a foursome !!
I really enjoyed this one, though I have to say that the MM and MMF books that Nicole Edwards has written are still my favorite. For those who want to know,..yes there is an MFMM scene, but there is no sexual interaction between men….
I was also very pleased with the fact that there is gonna be another spin-off, very curious to see where that’s gonna go.
I will make it short: I loved it!
Okay, probably not that short. 😉 This series never ceases to amaze me…
After all this time you would think that I would be fed up with it by now, that it would lose its appeal at some point and to be honest, with each new book I fear that the time has come. Slowly but surely, though, it seems to me that this will never be the case. I just cannot get enough of it.
After the events in Smoke & Mirrors, I could not get my grabby hands fast enough on this book and it was all I could have wished for. Yes, it felt like some kind of interlude, but that was the idea behind it, to prepare us for things to come. For the change that was already initiated in the previous book.
The story -albeit a bit shorter this time- was the familiar mix of action, humor, sexy times, some heartwarming scenes and Dex-antics, sometimes paired with thoughtfulness due to his new found Therian abilities still in its infancy and the impact this would have on those around him.
I so will never get tired of the banter between Dex and Ash!!!
The interaction between the teammates was amazing as always, although they had to break down some barriers when Dex and Sloane put their cards on the table and all secrets were out, but when it comes down to it, they act like the one big family they are and get everything sorted out in typical Destructive Delta manner.
In other words: it had everything I love about this series, plus a tinge of nostalgia when Dex recalls events that led them to this point until they reached some kind of crossroads. And that the love story between Dex and Sloane remains one of my favorites goes without saying.
I’ve been watching it ever since I first saw it advertised on. Highly praised and highly valued. Given the author, I said it can not be another way.
The book must be amazing or….
The book starts with Kate who applies for a position as Creative Director at Marks Lingerie. Her job is to help save and bring back to life the company. She is not satisfied with the current job that she has, she feels underrated. She feels that she does not make what makes her happy. So she applies to another company, where she is charmed by her new boss. Although it is engaged, she is not happy. She has a dull and simple relationship with her fiance and a boring life.
Trey is a very known playboy who fucks each walking skirt. He needs to save his company from bankruptcy. So he needs new and attractive ideas. So he hires Kate even though the attraction between them is on fire.
Along the way, they become very good friends. Way too abruptly on my opinion. They both are very attracted to each other. They both fight against the attraction. They think at the company and at the friendship between them, they don’t want to put this two in danger. So in the end of the book, they decided to give their love a chance.
What I do not like in the book was…It seemed to me very simple both the book and their relationship. They became best friends too suddenly and tThey both had dirty and exciting thoughts about one another. Just thoughts and nothing more. I thought Kate was a mean bitch when she judges Trey for his kink and didn’t even listen to him all the way.
I really don’t know what to say about this book
It was me or I don’t know. Everyone praise this book. But I really don’t see the fuss around her. I think it wasn’t as good as the previous books of the author.
Sorry, but I didn’t find in the book what I was looking for.
