Enemy of My Enemy by Tal Bauer

(The Executive Office Book 2)

*****5 solid stars*****

Honestly? Right now I truly wish Jack Spiers would be real…

Some people said in their reviews that you have to suspend your disbelief when you read this story. I even said it myself when I recommended it to a friend and you probably have to, but after what happened last night, I’m not so sure anymore if it is that overstated, at least on some points. This is fiction, the reality… not so much. Don’t worry, I won’t give a political statement and I’m less than qualified to do so, but after last night I look at this story in a slightly different light. Who knows what the future will bring? Right now everything seems possible and I’m a bit too horrified to think about it at the moment.

This book, though, deserves nothing less than 5 stars from me. I loved everything about it. It was fast-paced, action-packed and thrilling, but also sweet and tender, hot and passionate. To my mind, Tal Bauer did a great job in keeping it well-balanced, so the romance was not overshadowed by the action and vice versa. I won’t get into the story itself because the blurb is informative enough and other reviews explained it much better than I ever could.

Once again, the tone was sometimes a bit cheesy, but by far not as much as in the first book and somehow it did not bother me this time. I loved the development of Jack and Ethan’s relationship, even though they had to fight off resistance from almost every angle (sometimes even worse), but I was glad that their love proved to be strong enough in the end.

Their chemistry was almost palpable and their sexy times were just… Whew!

BUT… What I also loved were the side characters, especially Adam and Faisal. At times, for me, those two men even were on the verge of stealing Jack and Ethan the show and I can hardly wait to read more about them.

The general situation is still not solved at the end and one sentence pretty much sums it all up, but could also be the word of this day:

The world was still crazy, still dangerous and deadly, and they had to do something about that.

28814263Newly elected President Jack Spiers’s presidency is rocked from the very beginning, and he’s working furiously to keep the world from falling apart. He’s expecting another stuffed suit and an arrogant DC politician, but Jack shocks him with his humor and humanity.

There are rules against a Secret Service agent and one of their protectees developing a friendship—big rules. Besides, Jack is straight as a ruler, and a widower and Ethan has always avoided falling for straight men. Ethan keeps his distance, but Jack draws him in, like gas to a naked flame, and it’s a lure he isn’t strong enough to turn away from.

As the two men collide, rules are shattered and the world teeters on the verge of war, and a rogue Black Ops unit bent on destruction sets Jack in their deadly crosshairs. Ethan must put everything on the line in order to save the man he’s come to love, Jack’s presidency, and the world.

Enemies of the State by Tal Bauer

(The Executive Office #1)

****4 Stars****

Holy conspiracy…

This book reminded me a bit of a gay version of Olympus Has Fallen and I just couldn’t help it, but the image of Gerard Butler always popped up in my mind’s eye when I visualized Ethan 😉

There were scenes…

… that kept me on the edge of my seat and my eyes glued to my Kindle and I could hardly put it down.

Normally, I don’t do politics, I’m not interested in politics, and –what’s more- I don’t understand politics, so I was reluctant at first to read Enemies of the State at all, but this book made my head spin while I tried to figure out who is an ally and who is a foe and I really enjoyed it. The whole global crisis situation in this book with Islamist extremist attacks and refugees felt tangible and as current as it could be and made the whole reading experience even more interesting.

I took the personal situation of President Jack Spiers and his lead detail Ethan Reichenbach like the rest of the story for what it is: FICTION. Maybe it is a bit unlikely even these days, but hey… who would have thought a decade ago that someday there would be an African-American president residing in the White House and a woman the next presidential candidate? So, why the hell not a gay (or as in this case a demisexual) president? Never say never…

Jack and Ethan were so cute together.

I loved their slow burn relationship. Their text messages plastered a silly grin on my face all the time and I can’t wait to read more about them in the sequel.

I liked the writing style and it sucked me right into the story. After a while, though, it got sometimes a bit too cheesy for me and there were suddenly too many weeping men. Especially Ethan gave me some eye rolling moments round about the middle and the end of the book. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when my heroes show their vulnerable side and I don’t mind men crying, but Ethan just wept too easily for my liking and sometimes it was just… too much. A bit less soap opera and this book would have made it straight to my favorites shelf.

And now, with united forces…… on to book #2!

*****My rating 5 STARS*****

As I said at first book, this erotic trilogy stands above ALL others, for me, and has a special place in my heart for many reasons. Jesse is one of my favorite LOVES book hero.

Jesse and Ava are unforgettable characters, just as their story. As in the other two previous books, Jesse and Ava are the same. Jesse the demanding, sexy as hell ex-playboy, possessive, unreasonable and challenging.

And Ava is still swearing, more mature, much stronger, and even more in love with Jesse.  How not to be. Together they are much stronger.

Imagini pentru This Man Confessed

We discover Jesse’s troubled history, which is full of pain, guilt, and sorrow now that he finally confess to Ava who is going to help him to heal and to overcome all the pain and suffering. There was so much action, intrigue, drama, secrets revealed,  frustration, ups, and downs, pain, confessions, surprises, suspense. And I loved every moment and every page.

And don’t forget the sex, all tips of fucks depending on the mood or situation.

This book was ABSOLUTELY brilliant. It was a short afternoon read. I always go into a book like this, not expecting too much but I was blown away today. Everything about this book was just right!

It was a touching story, it was funny, it was low on the angst and unnecessary drama and was stock full of hot and I do mean hot, steamy sexy times. I felt drawn in by both of these very likable MC’s and I believed in their connection. I am a fan of this author and have read several of her other books, but I’ve got to say I think this was my favorite of hers.

Well…my impasse is still here. It is the most confused book that I have read ever. And still, mindfuck. I think these two characters are psychopaths and they deserve each other.

I was hoping for another ending. I did not expect that ending and those course of action throughout the entire book. I am still confused. There are too many questions without answers. In the blurb of the book, we are told that in this third book we will find the Conclusion. But NO.We Will not!

Who the f..k is Chelsea?

It was from both protagonists POV. Not from the “stranger”. Who by the way, we still don’t know his name. LAME… The action was lame, the sex lame…

And the ending…The epilog WTF??? I didn’t understand shit.

I’m mentioning that I have read such kind of books, but none of them were like those here. Dark, twisted and mindfuck. But in the end, you would receive all the answers. But not in this books.
